The Villa comes with a cook and gardener who will be pleased to look after you, the garden, and even prepare your meals upon request. Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

In a quiet rural setting only a 20 minute drive to beautiful Florence and a nice 2 kilometer walk from the shops and restaurants of Barbarino di Mugello, lies this historic, patrician Tuscan villa from the 16th and 18th centuries. This is a perfect place for family holidays and special events, weddings, birthdays, and small groups of friends or scholars, looking for a base to explore the Tuscan countryside and the wonders of Florence. You are also close to Siena, Lucca, Chianti area , and San Gimignano, and so many other places to fill your days.

Florence, of course, is the capital of Tuscany, and the Birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, reaching its pinnacle of civilization between the 11th and 15th centuries. In the 15th century, it came under the rule of the Medici family, who brought the area to the height of its glory in art and culture, in politics and economic power. You will want to spend many hours and days, visiting such world-class sites, as the Uffizi, the Pitti, Palace, The Duomo, the Church of Santa Croce, the Ponte Vecchio, and much, much more.

Barberino Di Mugello

BARBERINO DI MUGELLO is situated in the Stura valley, and is one of the nine municipal districts in the Mugello valley.

The town, born in the Middle Ages, was for many years the active centre of commercial life for the whole valley, and underwent long periods of conquest for its economic power. The name "Barberino" comes from the coat of arms, carved on an architrave in the castle of the ruling Cattani family, which displays a man with three beards

When Barberino became a part of the Florentine district in 1313, its importance grew; but the town lived its most splendid period in the 15th century under the Medici, whose residences were built all over the area and which are still visible today.

The area is studded with castles, churches, and historical buildings open for visitsincluding the Villa Cafaggiolo, one of the many Medici residences; the Villa of the Masks, originally built at the end of the 16th century by Bettini family and rebuilt in the 18th century by the Gerini; the Abbey of S. Maria a Vigesimo, founded in the 11th century and renovated many times, plus many other places of historical and artistic interest.

In addition to the artistic patrimony, Barberino also offers a wealth of wonderful natural resources: one can enjoy an outing along the river Stura or a relaxing afternoon on the banks of the Lake Bilancino, where there are many festivals, markets, and activities throughout the year.

To visit nearby:
LAKE BILANCINO:
Lake Bilancino is an artificial lake. In summertime, it offers a place to swim, sail, canoe and windsurf.

CASTLE OF CAFAGGIOLO:
The Castle of Cafaggiolo was a Medici residence, used by the powerful tuscan family to give parties, balls and to receive illustrious guests. http://turismo.mugello.toscana.it/italiano/medici05.html

You will find designer outlet shopping nearby, horse-riding, tennis, fishing and swimming at the nearby lake (when you tire of the pool).
