Description

Azeitona is surrounded by olive, fig and almond trees and is just 2kms away from the traditional village of Barao de Sao Joao. It is a short distance from all the facilities of the historic walled town of Lagos, stunning beaches and the dramatic west coast.

The modern and comfortable, single storey villa has three king size bedrooms which all have shaded terraces and ensuite facilities. Each of the 3 bedrooms can be twin bedded if preferred.

The lounge opens onto a huge shaded terrace for relaxation and al fresco dining, all overlooking the 10 x 5 metre solar heated swimming pool. The Mediterranean style garden has secluded seating areas along with the large communal BBQ and shaded dining area.

Azeitona is adjacent to Amendoa (2 bedroom villa) and Limão (1 bedroom villa) so it is ideal for parties who wish to holiday together but still retain their own privacy. Limão can only be booked if both Azeitona and Amendoa are booked by the same party.

Main bedroom is double aspect opening onto the pool terrace and its own private, pretty courtyard. The ensuite bathroom also has a separate shower.

The two further bedrooms also have their own shaded terrace and ensuite shower rooms.

All bedrooms can be made into twin bedded rooms if preferred.

Cots and highchairs available on request.

An Ipod docking station/speakers with MP3 connection is provided.

The terrace around the pool is spacious and overlooks the countryside, ideal for sunbathing and relaxation.

The Mediterranean style garden has a large communal BBQ house and shaded dining area. Secluded seating areas are dotted around the garden.

Laundry available and there are ample drying facilities.

The Algarve region

The quieter western end of the Algarve boasts beautiful countryside and stunning beaches. A mixture of historic towns, timeless villages surrounded by orange groves and quaint fishing villages.

A visit to the west coast is a must to experience the dramatic cliffs and the lovely beaches frequented by surfers and beach lovers alike.

Sagres and its fort are steeped in navigational history and the mountains of Monchique are famous for their views, walking and waters. Nearby the Autodromo at Portimao offers go-karting as well as an international motorsports circuit hosting major events during the year.

With golf courses on the doorstep, walking, cycling, horse-riding, surfing, watersports, water parks, fishing and boat trips all close by there is something for everyone.

Barao de Sao Joao

The small picturesque village of Barao de Sao Joao is a 2km walk down the track to a handful of bars, restaurants, post office and a couple of shops to supply daily needs.

Excellent restaurants are also in the nearby village of Espiche. Praia du Luz ( 5mins by car) has 2 supermarkets, shops and a great variety of restaurants, many overlooking the beautiful bay and fantastic beach.

Lagos (10mins) has large supermarkets, bustling markets for fresh fish and vegetables, cafes and restaurants on cobbled streets, stunning cliff tops and beaches. The modern marina offers boat trips including sea fishing, dolphin watching, sailing charters and scenic viewing of the caves and grottos.

Quinta da Varzea Grande overlooks the immaculate fairways of the newly opened Espiche Golf course . There are also many other golf courses nearby with Boa Vista and Parque da Floresta only a few minutes drive away.

“Fantastic villas, great location and excellent hospitality...”

This was the perfect holiday setting for us, a lovely rural location and spacious complex for our two families to share. The towns of Luz and Lagos are close by with great beaches and restaurants (car hire needed). There is a large, well-maintained pool that the children loved, spacious villas that are equipped with everything we needed to cook with. A sizeable barbecue/seating area more than adequately caters for large groups (there were 12 of us some days). Mark and Ruth live close by and were on hand to help when needed. They are excellent hosts who clearly take pride in their business, always friendly and welcoming. This is ideal holiday accommodation for larger parties who want a private, self-contained complex with amenities close by and plenty to explore if desired!

A Nice and clean property with a beautiful garden, pool and outdoor kitchen with barbecue place. The appartement was very well equipted, all bedrooms had private bathroom and there was wifi indoor and outdoor, which was important for our teenagers! We liked the nature and the surrundings, but a car is needed.

We highly recommend this place for extended family and large group holidays. The setting is fabulous. The owners are very helpful and nice - available, but never intrusive. The pool is large, and the outside area has a beautiful aspect. The BBQ area is a fantastic addition and the gardens are lovely. We took the 3-bedroom apartment and the adjacent 1-bedroom apartment for our family group of 6, of an age range from 11 to 58, including a teenager and two young adults. Everyone had a fantastic time, reading and relaxing, with a beach trip thrown in at some point in the day. We were quite lazy and did not do anything cultural. The perfect place to unwind and be together. The apartments are just right - very well appointed, but not fussy, and easy to keep tidy. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and small patio, so everyone has plenty of privacy. Excellent value for money. The apartments have wifi, not consistent but enough to keep up with emails from time to time if you need to. The nearby village is a bohemian oasis and also has a café with fast wifi. This place is NOT for you if you want to be close to the action. It is peaceful and quiet. The drive up and down the dirt track won't be for everyone. You need to get along with whoever is taking the other adjacent 2-bedroom apartment, which in our case was not at all difficult as the people were very nice and friendly. Nothing to do with the accommodation, but a word of warning about the hot beaches in summer months: one of our party got stung (twice in 3 days, unluckily) by a Weever fish which delivers an excruciating pain. Wear sturdy water shoes. If stung, you need to soak your foot in very hot (as hot as you can stand it) water to neutralise the poison. Probably not a risk at other times of the year.

Arriving in September for a late break meant it wasnt too hot but was so relaxing. Either going out (by car) or relaxing by the pool enabled us to wind down. Many places to visit and we would recommend the cave boat trip from Lagos. Easy to get to from the airport. The well equipped and tasteful apartment was very comfortable. The kitchen had all you need for meals but we eat out frequently. The pool ( with very helpful attendant!) was used several times a day

We had the 3 room villa for my wife and I, my parents and our 1 year old son. The facilities are excellent with very tasteful decor and there was a nice supply of basics on our arrival (bread, eggs, wine, butter, etc.), which was a thoughtful touch. The location is tranquil with a beautiful country view - yet getting to the main road is very easy. There's a common area around the pool and down at the excellent BBQ patio area - we grilled something up 3 or 4 nights. Each room seems to also have a private patio, which is a great design. I've been to the Algarve once here and once staying in Lagos. Staying outside the town is ideal (you have a to have a car, obviously). Quick access to the surfing beaches, wonderful little Luz, Lagos and the rest. WiFi is a touch spotty, but it probably did us good to not be glued to email and there are plenty of wi-fi pubs and cafes in the nearby towns. We plan to return and would definitely stay here again.
