Merok Mill House, a 4* self-contained, open-plan, split-level, 2 bedroom apartment, which sleeps 4-6 people, is particularly suitable for families. Set in beautiful countryside, with Bangor & North Down, and Belfast (Titanic Experience) all within easy driving distance. Dogs welcome (must get on with other dogs)!

Accommodation comprises of large open plan kitchen dining and living room with small flight of steps to mezzanine floor with double bed. Access from mezzanine floor to bathroom and bedroom. Bedroom has bunk beds.

If required we can provide a double futon in the living room for 2 additional guests hence 4 - 6 persons.

Please note: The double bed is on a gallery mezzanine floor which overlooks (if one were standing) the living room and kitchen. It does not afford a great degree of privacy if people are sleeping on the futon and so we consider Merok Mill House to be more suitable to families than groups of friends.

We have been awarded 4 Stars by Tourism Northern Ireland.

Please note. Access to Merok Mill House is via a flight of stairs and so is unfortunately not at this time convenient for wheelchair users.

Getting around

There is a bus service from the near end of Kerrs Road to Belfast, Bangor and Donaghadee. Most visitors travel by car.

Merok Mill House shares a courtyard with our home and generally we are on hand to welcome you and to ensure that your stay is as perfect as we can make it. We have a general rule that we welcome any request such that we retain the right to say no.. We do endeavour to satisfy all requests though.

House rules

We don't allow large parties without prior approval so please ask. We have a playroom in the loft of the big barn with Table Tennis, Foosball and Air hockey however we require parental supervision at all times and must insist that children do not roam freely in the barn as there are tools and equipment which could be dangerous. Users do so at their own risk.

Lovely place to stay very quiet, kitchen had every thing you could need, toys provided, requested extra heaters and this was no problem to Ruan, a wonderful family trip

Great welcome from Ruan and Frances with high quality local produce to kick off our holiday. The accommodation is great - spotless, well equipped and comfortable for a family stay - and there is a strong internet connection which pleased us all. Wonderful that it was possible to bring our dog too! Thanks to our hosts for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Merok Mill House for a long Mothers Day weekend getaway. The converted barn house was gorgeous with all the amenities you could ask for and much more! Behind the house was an equestrian centre with 70 horses which my 6 year old twin girls were delighted with and were able to feed some of the horses. Upon arrival we were greeted from Ruan who showed us all around and had fresh bread,eggs,milk,sausages,bacon,butter etc... Ruan was even nice enough to get me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for Mothers Day which was really appreciated! Everything was brilliant and we had a great weekend. Thanks again!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Ruan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
