Description from owner

Description

Rose Barn is a beautiful and contemporary barn conversion sitting in the tranquil surroundings of a former farm in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds countryside. The property provides a spacious, welcoming holiday home for families and small groups alike.

The enclosed courtyard garden to the front of the property makes it particularly safe for children. The glass front to the property matches the contemporary interior and fills it with sunlight. It is set within Chimney Meadows, the largest nature reserve of the BBOWT (Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust).

The site totals over 600 acres of wildlife rich land along the banks of the River Thames. The reserve is of national importance for its species-rich wetland meadows that support large numbers of now scarce ground-nesting birds, and provides a haven for curlew, snipe and reed bunting. Oxford, Cheltenham and the Cotswolds are easily accessible and London is approx 1.5 hours away. Children and well behaved dogs welcome.

“A great weekend in the Cotswolds”

Reviewed 5 Apr 2015

A great venue for a weekend away with friends. Plenty of space for us all with super amenities - a real home from home. A lovely, quiet spot with plenty of places to walk and stretch the legs. Thank you to Andrew for looking after us so well too.

“Lovely barn in a great location”

Reviewed 24 May 2013

There were 18 of us that stayed in Owl and Rose barns in May for 3 nights. Rose Barn is very homely, the bedrooms are all of a good size with a nice living area and a kitchen/dining area which we all managed to fit in for breakfast each morning. There's plenty of parking space and the location was easy to get to and quite central but still remote enough to feel like a secluded spot away from everyone - there's some great walks, pubs and villages in the surrounding area to keep you entertained.

“Brilliant place to stay for a large extended family party on a snowy weekend in March.”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2013

Great place for small children. Very cosy lounge and dining room suitable for a large party. Very nicely decorated. Brilliant views of the wildlife around without even going out of the door. A great venue for a party in the winter and I imagine it would be sensational in the Spring and summer.

“A lovely cottage in a stunning location”

Reviewed 6 Dec 2012

Rose Barn is a lovely cottage in a stunning location. Well laid out accommodation, good facilities within the barn for entertaining large groups. Nice views onto great countryside.

“Perfect getaway for that special birthday...”

Reviewed 21 Nov 2012

We were a group of 6 ladies who wanted a 'get away from it all' birthday celebration weekend and Rose Barn certainly lived up to our expectation! Rural (but not to far away from the shops of Oxford!), idyllic, spacious, clean and modern - exactly what we had been looking for. The barn was well equiped with everything we needed from kitchen utensils/crockery to wi-fi to logs for the fire - nothing was missed. The owner was helpful and a welcome visit was made within an hour of us arriving to ensure everything was ok. Overall, the perfect choice for our girly getaway!

“Absolutely beautiful barn with everything we needed for a memorable stay!”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2012

We had such a fantastic weekend at The Rose Barn! It was a stunning place and was decorated to the highest standard with thoughtful attention to detail. It was even more stunning than in the photos!! I stayed there with a group of friends for a hen weekend, we had a really relaxing and fun time. Set in a nature reserve the barn was in a beautiful location, we went on walks along the canal and also went into Oxford for a night out - easily reachable by taxi. Fergus and his team were really friendly and helpful, everything we needed was provided and we felt very welcome. I would definitely recommend a stay at the Rose Barn, or one of the other Chimney Farm barns!

“Great place for a group holiday”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2011

I stayed here for my hen weekend as part of a group of 8 girls. We couldn't have hoped for better - there was plenty of space for us all to sit down in the dining room and the living room, and the kitchen was a good size. Sometimes apartments or cottages don't have enough living space but that definitely wasn't a problem here. The only issue was the showers - there were only two and neither of them were particularly effective. But that's only a minor point. I highly recommend this property.

“Beautiful place in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2011

We spent a long weekend at Rose Barn and were happy with our choice when we arrived. The barn is a great size, clean and well decorated offering a number of well kitted out and comfortable rooms. We had such a nice stay we are looking to rent out the other barns alongside this one for a bigger group in 2012. The welcome cake was also extremely yummy!

“High quality spacious accomodation in peaceful surroundings made for a great holiday.”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2011

Rose Barn was a delightful place to stay.Situated beside a nature reserve you felt very much away from it all but in reality it was very near lots of beautiful Cotswold villages and only 30 minutes from Oxford. The Barn was very roomy and took six adults and two young children (3 years and 1 year) with ease. It was very safe for our grandchildren. No stairs and the courtyard gate could be shut to keep them safe in the garden. We all enjoyed a great holiday in lovely surroundings

“Simply amazing! Gorgeous barn & beautiful location.”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2011

Rose Barn is lovely! In the middle of the countryside with beautiful views. It is spacious and fully equiped with everything that makes being away from home easier. All nine girls in my party thoroughly enjoyed their stay.
