Getting around

The area is served by one bus per week, on a Thursday! Guests have taken a train to Penrith station then a taxi or cycled to the Granary before now. If you love walking, this might suit you, but otherwise, you will find a car very useful.

Interaction with guest

We live 10 minutes away from the Granary and aim to be available whenever possible during your stay, should you need anything. However, we will leave you alone to enjoy your stay if you don't need us for anything.

Very Good

“What a find!”

Reviewed 28 May 2017

We stayed here for 1 night and I cannot express what a lovely time we had. Bampton was a beautiful little village in the countryside that was great to go exploring. The walks left by Charlotte the owner was a nice touch and helpful for us, we had a nice walk down by the river. The Granary itself was so immaculate and suited just the two of us who wanted to stay in and cook. The little personal touches was lovely. Communication with Charlotte was quick and excellent - we were even told we could check in way before our allocated time. Instructions on what to do in the area was very valuable too. Would highly recommend.

“Stunning gorgeous little holiday apartment in an intimate picturesque location.”

Beautiful little well equiped apartment ideal for a couple wanting a peaceful getaway. The apartment is surrounded by beautiful views and so peaceful and remote. The local pub is 15minutes walk but everywhere else is a good drive. Wonderful base to explore the North West area of the Lake District. We wanted a peaceful break for just the two of us and this place was ideal.

“Delightful rural converted property in convenient pretty location”

Reviewed 19 Oct 2016

Charlotte the owner couldn't have been more helpful. She even made it possible for us to walk with the local 'amblers' group. The Apartment has been tastefully converted from a farm outbuilding. I particularly appreciated being able to stretch out in the window seat and enjoy the view of the hills and nearby paddock. Everything was well maintained clean, fresh, and comfortable. Much thought had been put into maximising people's enjoyment. Comprehensive maps and guides for walkers and storage space for bikes will be a boon to active visitors. The kitchen area, as the rest of the property, was very pleasant. Be aware that there isn't freezing capacity in the fridge, so don't bring anything frozen. Neither was there a microwave. when we visited. We would have only used one to reheat left over percolated coffee so no real problem. We're both retirement age so managed the access via a number of steps up the side of the Granary but I expect some might struggle. We managed to catch the sun in the small garden area at the end of the day. A useful addition to the property. The village shop and an attractive four star inn are close by on foot. The inn food is excellent as is it's atmosphere and decor. The Granary is very well situated for visiting all that the Lakes and the beautiful Eden Valley has to offer. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for this review. I am really glad that you enjoyed your stay. We now have a microwave in the kitchen, and thanks for drawing attention to the steps and freezer. Charlotte.
