This property is located within the Terrrazas de la Torre Golf Resort, a private gated Polaris World Resort with 24 hour security patrols and only a 15 minute drive from San Javier (Murcia) airport and the Mar Menor beaches. The sister resort of La Torre is 900 metres away and has another award winning golf course as well as the renowned luxury Intercontinental 5 Star Hotel Spa and the town centre has both shopping and eating facilities right next to the golf club and pro shop just a short distance away.

The apartment is well equipped with all modern amenities including remote controlled panasonic air conditioning with a very well equipped open plan fitted kitchen with microwave and ipod charger / speakers as well as a dining and living areas furnished to a luxurious specification.

Outside a large L shaped sun terrace overlooks two holes of the Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and there is a utility room with washing machine etc for all your laundry needs.

The apartment has been furnished to a very good standard and includes 3 x plasma tvs, english channels on the main 42 inch 1080p plasma with a Blu-Ray Sony Playstation 3 along with a good selection of films and games for you to enjoy when not outside as well as a comfortable full leather sofabed for extra guests. Coming soon is 300 channel digibox with limited internet service (chargable locally) Each of the two bedrooms have built in waldrobes and the smaller bedroom has a double bed with the main bedroom having a kingsize bed with its own separate patio doors leading onto the terrace - both have remote tvs and bedside tables with lamps. There are outside lounging and dining options to extend your enjoyment of the apartment in an area of Spain that has sunshine almost all year round with many beautiful towns and beaches nearby to occupy you when not in the pool, terrace or large garden. The roof areas of the low buildings are communal and there are clothes lines as well as sunning / tanning areas for you to get the maximum rays and the roof solarium is served by a lift in the lobby area.

The golf course at Terrazas de la Torre was designed by Nicklaus Golf and is now known as Saurines de la Torre Golf and managed by IRM, the par 72 course opened late in 2010 and received excellent reviews. The course is desert style with two lakes, is lightly bunkered and stretches for 5,938 metres from the yellow tees. It is one of a many fine courses within the vicinity that has been developed recently and also has reasonable fees for residents including twilight special.

The famous La Manga strip is also a short drive away through a well connected set of roadways, including the nearby Autovia and the Costa Calida region is a destination crammed with more than its fair share of world-class golf courses, you might struggle to find anywhere better but, of course, a holiday here can provide opportunities for the whole family to have fun, not just keen golfers. With many beautiful beaches you can enjoy fun in the sun trying your hand at water-sports or outdoor activities where available and the area has a vast National Park where you can enjoy the natural scenery and beauty of Spain as well as the usual waterpark and zoo and the nearby area earmarked for the Universal Studio Paramount Theme park .

You might choose to spend your days relaxing at home! But do a little exploration in the surrounding area, and you'll find some fantastic sites and beautiful villages. Using the apartment as a base to explore the Mar Menor, for example is a great choice for quiet, romantic break with lunch in the modern marina at San Pedro. Throughout this area there are spectacular views across the Mediterranean of the idyllic, sandy beaches but if you crave the sights and sounds of the city however, head to the heart of Murcia: with cathedrals, museums and beautiful Moorish monuments, it's a city brimming with fascinating historical sites or try Cartegana on the way to La Manga with its Roman heritage.

In terms of local facilities there is a supermarket and restaurant on the complex, with other supermarkets in Roldan. The Dos Mares shopping complex has a hypermarket and many other small outlets and restaurants (including Burger King & Mcdonalds!). You will need 1 euro for the trolley and this is close to the airport and is usually a first stop on the way to the apartment for supplies.

Guests may pre-arrange with us welcome packs so that feel at home immediately on their arrival by our local agents providing them with a basic welcome pack which includes Milk, Bread, Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Butter, Water, Cereals, Wine & Beer - priced locally from 20 euros upwards depending on requirements.

Eating Out:- Roldan is the nearest small town and has several restaurants and bars, spanish, english and italian and there is a nearby industrial estate just outside the resort that has several inexpensive bars and restaurants including an excellent Chinese and Indian. Don't worry about the location - it is normal to find excellent food in unlikely locations and people travel far and wide for these particular restuarants for the price and quality comparable to the UK. A couple of them offer a drop off / pick up service and home delivery (minimum order applies to these services) which is useful for those lazy days. Another great place further afield is Cabo de Palos near the La Manga strip has some really good harbour side restaurants ideal for long, lazy lunches with great sea food or the restaurants and bars around the beautiful Marina near San Pedro Del Pinatar which has the Mar Menor on one side and the mediterranean on the other.

The nearest airport is San Javier Murcia and is just 15 minutes away - it is served by many airlines including RyanAir, EasyJet and RedJet - there is a newer airport at Corvera coming soon that will also be around 15 minutes drive as well as Alicante airport which is about an hours drive, as an alternative, depending on your chosen route into Spain. I have driven there a few times as well from Buckinghamshire and the 1250 mile route through dover-calais down through france and across past Barcelona is 23 hours non-stop and requires two drivers or 30 to 36 hours with an overnight 2/3 or the way though France depending on your start time (much cheaper than Santander route which is an overnight ferry service) Ask me for details if interested.

Whatever you desire on your holiday is within easy reach and these destinations are all on your doorstep combining Sun, Sea, Sand with Golf, Culture and Quiet Relaxation.

There is a local fee payable on arrival of 60 Euros which covers both pre and post cleaning as well as your Meet and Greet from the local agent who also provides a range of further locally paid services which include the provision of High Chairs, Cots, Golf Club Sets, Racquets and Bicycle Hire to name a few.

Please email with any queries or questions and we will try to accomodate all your needs. Although you could confine yourself to the resort without a car it is recommended that the best way to enjoy the resort and this area is with the freedom of your own vehicle and the airport locations all have many options starting as low as 15 euros per day. Details can be provided on request and the apartment includes its own allocated undercover parking space right outside.

Rates for bookings of 2 weeks or more are slightly reduced.

Please note that use of the sofabed when there is a groups of 6 should be restricted to small children only due to size restrictions.

We also offer late booking discounts during certain months so please email for rates and availability and available discounts.

Preferred payment is via cheque or bank transfer if UK based or bank transfer for international guests. Paypal is also possible (which incurs a 5% surcharge).

Location description from owner

The Region of Murcia region

The Costa Cálida (Spanish pronunciation: [kosta kaliða], "Warm Coast") is the approximately 250 km stretch of Mediterranean coastline of the Spanish province of Murcia. This region has a micro-climate which features comparatively hot mean annual temperatures (and hence its name, "Warm Coast") and a relative degree of aridity (precipitation averaging less than 34 cm annually) - which means that it doesn't rain alot!!?

It extends from El Mojón in the north near the province of Alicante, to near the municipality of Águilas in the south bordering on the region of Almería province.

This property is set slightly inland at the northern end of this coastline, which includes the Mar Menor ("Little Sea"), a coastal saltwater lagoon which at around 170 km2 is Europe's largest.

The Mar Menor is separated from the Mediterranean by a 22km-long spit of land called La Manga, on which most of the tourism development for the region has been constructed.

Cartagena and Mazarrón are two other important coastal towns in the region.

Golf is a popular pastime for visitors and residents. There are many PGA championship courses such as El Valle which hosted the PGA European Seniors Tour in June 2011,

Hacienda del Alamo which is the longest golf course in Spain and linked through Polaris World to Terrazas De La Torre and the main course at La Torre as well as the famous La Manga Club.

Balsicas

The beautiful blue flag beaches of Los Alcazares is merely a 15 min drive away offering may shops, bars and restaurants.

The apartment is 20 mins drive from the beautiful historic city of Murcia while the closest towns of Balsicas and Roldan are less than 5 minutes drive with many shops, bars and restuarants in their vicinity.

The Autovia is a short drive and opens up to allow access to many features of the resort including the national park and this area is of great interest to those who like the great outdoors. From the geographical point of view, the region of Murcia stands out because of its many contrasts: dry versus irrigated land, plains versus mountainous areas, coastline versus interior, vineyards versus mesetas (plains), Of the total surface area, the majority (approx. 45%) is between 200 - 600 metres; 23% is less than 200 metres above sea level, and the rest 32% lies at heights of over 600 metres.

The highest point in the region is the Revolcadores massif (2,027 m), followed by numerous other smaller mountain ranges located in the Centre and North-West of the province, such as El Carche, Sierra Espuña, La Pila, or Ricote, which boast the most important forested areas, with vast areas of pine trees. Special mention must be made of the Altiplano (Jumilla and Yecla), situated to the North-East of the region. It is a high plateau planted with vineyards from whose fruit the area’s renowned wines are produced. As we move south wards we meet alternating low cordilleras (coastal mountains) and valleys through which the Guadalentín and Segura rivers flow, with rich agricultural land and wide fertile coastal plains, the most extensive of which is the Campo de Cartagena.

Murcia has just over 170 km of coastline. Coves and beautiful small beaches alternate with rocky shores and sheer, craggy cliffs.

As a geographical accident of nature we find the famous La Manga, a coastal strip of land which, bar a few connecting channels, or narrows, completely closes off the Mar Menor lagoon from the Mediterranean and has many fine beaches with good facilities along its length.

The Murcian littoral (coast) offers on the one hand unprotected shores with wild seas and on the other small coves with calm, placid waters. Sand-dunes, beaches, salt-water lagoons, mud-flats... the Murcia coastline includes numerous places of unquestionable interest to the naturalist. Not surprisingly many of these have been declared Protected Natural Areas.

The region of Murcia falls historically and geographically into a number of districts which unite the 45 townships making up this uniprovincial autonomous community, all of which in turn depend on Murcia, the regional capital, which has the same name as its province and is a short drive from the apartment - always worth a day trip to explore.

The district of Cartagena contains the townships of: Cartagena, La Unión, Los Alcázares, San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Torre Pacheco, Fuente Álamo and Mazarrón and again are all worth a visit to experience the true spain.

“great apartment with everything you need”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2013

we stayed at the apartment in august for 1 week it was great next to the pool good views of the golf course and 5 minsutes walk to the supermarket and restaurant. The apartment had international TV and the air-con was nice and cold as it was 40+ degrees for our stay. The apartment was very nicely furnished with everything that would need. We have family that that have an apartment close by so we are hoping to stay there again in the future.
