Villa Magdalen is the ultimate dream villa, with a magnificent private pool and stunning sea views, close to beautiful beaches and pretty towns. The prominent hillside location is calm and quiet, with panoramic views of the Black Sea and the famous golden beach of Albena, the bustling seaside resort "where all the action is". Just 4 km to the other side you find the picturesque little town and marina of Balchik, with the authentic charm of Bulgaria.

Enjoy the panoramic views from your own private pool and gardens. For every time of the day, you will find the right terrace, sun or shade, with quality garden furniture and sunbeds with soft mattresses. You will be tempted to just relax and unwind. But if you want to get out and explore, then Villa Magdalen is the right place as well! Plenty to do and see, if you ever want to leave the luxury of your poolside lounger.


Villa Magdalen is a spectacular holiday villa with breathtaking sea views and a large private pool, on a quiet spot in a well-kept villa area between Albena and Balchik. The villa is truly a one-off with its bold architecture, clean-cut lines, and airy spaces, focusing on outdoor living, with outdoor spaces and terraces to all sides and a huge lawn/playing area in front (actually an extra plot). The interior of the villa is just as impressive and the design and decoration are a testimony to the style and taste of its British owners. You will enjoy spacious interiors on three floors, high-end materials and stylish decoration, with lots of attention to detail, and all the luxury you can imagine. There are 4 large bedrooms (two twin bedrooms and two super kings) with the living spaces on the middle floor in between. That's extra privacy for a holiday with more couples or friends. The villa sleeps 12 if you count the 2 converting sofa beds in the living and the additional sofabed (a double) in the huge master bedroom.

THE FACILITIES are top-class in Villa Magdalen and go beyond the pre-set lists we could fill out: the broadband is super fast (>50Mb), there is a good sound system and large plasma screen tv's, the fridge/freezer is extra large, you have your own washing machine/dryer, and even pool towels are supplied. Definitely a notch above the average holiday home. That also applies to the fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and all small appliances. Obviously, a villa of this quality is fully airconditioned, but in Villa Magdalen, the airconditioning can be switched to heating for a cool evening in spring or autumn, so you can truly enjoy the advantages of visiting the sunny Black Sea Coast outside the summer season.

THE LOCATION of Villa Magdalen is truly unique: quiet and very private, yet so close to Balchik and Albena, both just a few minutes by car. Balchik is a lovely place for an evening stroll, or eating out at the marina with its many quayside bars and restaurants, or to shop around for some 'couleur locale'. Cultural and historical heritage is right at the beachfront here, with The Palace, built by the Romanian Queen Maria, and its famous botanical gardens. Albena, known for its wide golden beach and just a few miles to the other side, is a lively seaside resort with all kinds of sun-, sea- and fun activities and entertainment for young and old.

"THE NEW IBIZA", half the price: The Bulgarian Riviera, and especially the area near Varna and Albena, is fast developing and now even nicknamed "The New Ibiza", but - as they say - "younger and hotter", while Balchik holds on to a more traditional and authentic atmosphere. When you stay at Villa Magdalen you can enjoy both sides. And you will take advantage of BULGARIAN PRICES: a similar villa in Spain or Greece costs twice as much, and you can slice in half ALL your holiday costs: drinks, eating out, car hire, shopping, everything. HOW TO GET TO VILLA MAGDALEN: Varna airport is just an easy 35-minute drive away and pickup from the airport by your villa manager can be arranged for just 39 Euro (4 guest max) or 59 Euro (5-10). There are many car rental options at the airport, or in Balchik and Albena. Low-cost flights to Varna airport (Thomson, Easyjet, Wizz, Ryanair) are now scheduled from all major airports in Western Europe, daily or twice a week.

Getting around

We recommend car hire. It is very cheap from the airport (book it online and in time for high season), or you can have a car delivered to the villa (if you prefer airport pick-up by the villa manager on arrival). But you will enjoy your stay more with wheels! Even though there is a small supermarket around the corner, and the nearest beach is just 15 mins on foot, you probably won't enjoy the walk back in the heat and up the hill! By car, everything is just within a few minutes distance and parking is very uncomplicated here, so you can get close to your favorite beach or wherever you want to go.

OUR VILLA MANAGER: Your enquiry and booking will be with the owner directly, or their PA, so we can help you with every question (in 4 languages). We live in the UK, spend a week or two at our villa in summer and rent out the other weeks. So, basically, we are not there. But our dedicated villa manager, living nearby, will pick you up at the airport (if requested) or be waiting for you at the villa with a warm and friendly welcome, and they will assist you throughout your stay. Our guests over the years tell us time and again how well they felt looked after. The villa manager is local to the area and knows it better than anyone, AND is fluent in English. Best of both sides so to say!
