Location description from owner

The England region

Stunning scenery in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales with Stanton Moor just a mile away. The historic country houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are both only ten minutes away. The towns of Matlock, Matlock Bath and Bakewell are only ten minutes away and the whole area is full of lovely picturesque villages. Walking, cycling, horese-riding and golf are all nearby.

Bakewell

Bakewell is a market town and there is a wonderful market on a Monday which is well worth a visit. Bakewell is also full of antique and gift shops, cafes, tea shops and various pubs and restaurants. You can walk alongside the lovely River Derwent with its ducks and trout. Bakewell is famous for its Bakewell Puddings which are absolutely delicious and a must for visitors. A large Country Show is held in August and there is also a big Carnival during the summer.

The old steam train station of Peak Rail is less than a mile away and for those a little more adventurous, you will find excellent facilities for horse-riding and trips in a carriage and four. Walkers will love the area with walking direct from the door or within a short drive. The nearby Tissington and Monsal Trails are superb for cycling and the beautiful country houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are only ten minutes away. The market town of Ashbourne and nearby Dovedale lie to the south while Castleton, the Blue John Mines and Ladybower and Derwent Water Reservoirs lie to the north. In fact, the whole of the Peak District is within easy reach of Bumble Bee Barn.

“wonderful stay at Bumble Bee Barn”

Reviewed 26 Dec 2013

Stayed for a weekend for our wedding anniversary- what a lovely cottage - well equipped, and so comfortable- a real home from home! Spent a pleasant few hours walking at Stanton Moor finished off with a pint in the village. A wonderful restful weekend in beautiful surroundings - would love to see the garden in full bloom so need to have a return visit- we will be back!
