Downstairs:
Entrance from garden into large kitchen/dining area or into comfortable lounge area both of which contain log stoves. The kitchen is fully equipped with sink unit, gas cooker, microwave, electric oven, breadmaker, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge. In the lounge there is a sofa bed that can if required provide extra sleeping area. There is a downstairs WC, shower and bath.
Upstairs:
Large master bedroom with king size mattress and en-suite shower room with WC. Three smaller bedrooms one with king size bed, one with small double bed and one with bunkbeds. An upstairs toilet and sink. Cot, changing mat, pushchair and highchair all available. WiFi router provides good WiFi for whole property.
Outside:
There is a good size garden with splash pool in which to relax, enjoy the countryside views or have a barbecue, tables and chairs provided. There are two public footpaths which pass by the side of the house which can make enjoyable circular walks or mountain bike circuits.
Local Area:
The village of Bais is a pleasant walk or short 3km drive away and contains two excellent bakeries, two supermarkets, bars, pharmacy etc. There is also an outdoor pool and angling lake.
Fifteen minute drive away is the picturesque local town of Evron is the 11th - 16th century basilica church of Notre Dame de l'Epine and an adjoining convent. There is also a large Super U and Intermarche which are very well stocked and are excellent sources of wine! Thursday morning is market day and is well worth a visit for local produce and superb seafood. The new pool provides both indoor and outdoor swimming and plenty of fun for the whole family with basketball and football pitches around the pool.
Another nearby historic town is the Gallo-Roman town of Jublains (Noviodunum), with the largest site of Roman ruins in Western France. The pretty hilltop village of St Suzanne is also worth a visit for its historic buildings and pleasant surroundings. There are also dramatic reconstructions of historical events including jousting all through the summer 2km South of St Suzanne at Le Ferté-Clairbois.
The town of Mayenne is about 20 minutes drive away, with its castle, river, good choice of bars and restaurants.
Laval, with its 27 hole golf course, is the largest town in the Mayenne it also has a medieval castle which is home to the museum of 'native art' and a superb collection of marble works. Guided boat tours can be taken around Laval every day in July and August.
Mont Saint Michel...The unique island monastery just off the coast near St Malo and accessed by a causeway is a remarkable island. (about one and a half hours drive).
Saulges… Prehistoric Caves , with stalactites and stalagmites and walks through
the Glacial valley.
If you are a keen mountain biker, why not test yourself on one of the difficult courses at St Léonard des Bois designed by Laurence Leboucher, the world cross country cycling champion. Bicycles can be hired here for the superb trails in the forest which vary in length and difficulty. There is also pony trekking at St Léonard des Bois and a recently opened zip line and tree top rope trail (like Go Ape in Thetford). Kayak hire is also available for a very picturesque river trip by the Alpes Mancelles.
Sille Plage is 20 mn drive away and is a beautiful inland beach with safe swimming, sand, cafes, walks and boat hire. An alternative lake with cheap catamaran hire, adventure play area and high class restaurant can be found 15mn away at Mezangers next to Evron.
