Description

The Olive Tree Studio is part of a group of houses in the wooded saddle of breathtaking Capo Zafferano, looking southward directly onto a quiet bay and the Sicilian coast West to Cefalù. A long private staircase takes you directly down to the rocky bathing coast on crystal clear water, or you can walk along the road to one of the public beaches around the bay.

Capo Zafferano, with its unmistakable promontory, is a protected natural area just to the north of Bagheria – a suburb of Palermo famous for its 18th Century Baroque Villas – with an abandoned lighthouse at the end of a walk down the narrow road carved out of spectacular cliffs. The nearby fishing villages of Sant'Elia, Porticello, and Aspra all have different styles of fishing boats as well as their markets, pubs and restaurants from romantic to family-friendly. Alternatively, you can visit the ancient Greek ruins of Solunto with the Regional archaeological museum on-site, just across the bay.

With ample parking, the Olive Tree Studio is also an ideal base for a tour of Sicily, as it is only 10 minutes from the motorway despite its sensation of rural maritime calm. Once on the autostrada, the city of Palermo is only 20 minutes and its airport one hour to the West and Cefalù a little over a half hour to the East. Both Agrigento and Catania are less than two hours' drive.

The studio (20 mq plus the outdoor patio) is on the lower level of a construction originally built in the '60s and transformed into a studio seaside apartment in 2012. The simple and practical design makes efficient use of the cool interior space, with a bathroom with ample shower next to the sleeping area and a fully equipped kitchen facing the sofa bed and wardrobe. The main feature of this lovely apartment is the extensive patio made of wooden deck elements surrounding the olive tree, surrounded by greenery. It is furnished with a dining table with ombrella, a swing sofa and other elements to become a real living space in the shade. Guests also have access to a shared laundry facility, the shared gazebo with its spectacular view of S. Elia across the bay as well as the small but refreshing swimming pool.
