'Schau Rhein', the name of our house is a play on words. Translated word by word it says 'view the rhine'. The very similar sounding words 'schau rein' translate to 'come in and have a look'. Both expression are perfectly related to our house.

Checkout flights with Ryanair or WizzAir. Frankurt / Hahn Airport is just 30 minutes away. Frankfurt International Airport with flights of all major international airlines is about 1 hour by car.

Location description from owner

The Rhineland-Palatinate region

The world heritage Middle Rhine Valley is a unique landscape in Europe. The narrow Rhine Valley with this huge River, the ancient tiny villages have impressed travellers since ever. The well known rhine wine is growing on the steep slopes of the valley and can be tastet in taverns directly at the producers. A fleet of cruising ships is available for unforgetable boat trips through this breathtaking landscape. More than 50 castles or remains can be seen along the rhine between Bingen and Koblenz. The legendary Loreley rock is rising high above the valley at St.Goar and it still requires highest attention from the boatsmen. Famouse hiking trails on both sides of rhine valley providing impressive views.
The climate is mild with warm summers and not to much snow during winter. The rhine valleys average temperature is laying 1-2 degrees above the country average of Germany. The best season for hikking is during spring and autum. Summer is the best season for Rhine cruises and sightseeing. Even swimming is possible in the Rhine river at a number of public and guarded beaches.
Overall a unique location for an unforgetable Germany vacation.

Bacharach

The village Medenscheid is a picturesque small suburb of Bacharach, situated on top of the hills overlooking the Rhine Valley. The village is known for its Roses. It has a draw-well and an old bread oven house in the middle of the village, some stud work houses and a small chappel. The Rheinburgen hikking trail is leading straight through the village and allows some of the most spectacular views on the romantic Rhine Valley.
Bacharach has a long and turbolent history and reaches back to roman times 2000 years ago. The village became important during the middle ages as an important trading center for wine and also for wood from the near 'Hunsrueck' mountains. The city became considerable wealth and was the receiving of town charter in 1356. Many lovely renovated old houses from the middle ages and a old town wall with a number of watch towers still dominating the face of the city. Castle Stahleck is towering high above the city. Raised in the 13th century the castle is a very popular youth hostel these days.

Excellent accomodation, great view, great owner. Highly recommended for anyone traveling Germany and wanting to absorb the beauty and magnificence of the Rhine River. You sit on the balcony and look below at the mighty Rhine as you sip on your favorite morning, midday, or evening beverage of choice.
