Very Good

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2017

Stayed at the Old Post Office last October it was like home from home. There was every think you needed. The place was spotless, roomy and very comfortable. It was situated in easy reach of the Jurassic coast. Would definitely recommend this place to stay. Richard was very helpful when booking. Stayed there with a friend & my 2 dogs. They loved the garden. Definitely will stay there again next time visiting friends in Devon.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. It is always comforting to know that our guests have enjoyed their stay-it makes us feel happy that you love it as much as we do there! We hope to see you again.

Just returned from another stay at The Old Post Office in Exmouth........It was once again lovely! Very warm and cosy. Everything was so clean and comfortable. A fabulous Cottage very near to all the amenities.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your comments. We are delighted to have you stay again at the cottage and hope you can make it an annual trip! Just to point out your small 'typo' to other readers- the cottage is in Axmouth, near Seaton and Lyme Regis, not Exmouth. Best wishes, Richard and Julie

“last minute superb”

Beautiful cottage, accommodating owner who arranged our stay at the very last minute. Fantastic location, great local pubs and good walking in the area. We would not hesitate to book again. Thank you for a great short break.

Owner's reply: We are delighted that we could accommodate you at short notice (thank you Sue - our wonderful housekeeper!). We hope that you can come again and explore this lovely area. Richard and Julie

“A wonderful experience”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2015

The cottage is beautiful with all the amenities you need. Plenty of room for my family of six. We felt relaxed as soon as we stepped through the door. The pub is a short walk away serving excellent food and there is a large Tesco just 5 minutes drive away in Seaton. We visited Lyme Regis around a 10 minutes drive most days to take the children fossil hunting. Axmouth is situated perfectly to explore the Jurassic Coast.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for taking the trouble to leave a review. We know that it helps others get a feel for the cottage and the area. Lyme Regis and Charmouth are the areas for 'fossil heaven' and just a few minutes away. We hope you come back and visit again. Richard and Julie.

“We could not fault it!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2015

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 'Old Post Office' with our extended family. It was ideal. We liked the quiet village location overlooking the Axe river, yet close to the beaches at Seaton and Beer for our grand daughters to play; plus a Rec just up the road, what more could we ask for? We were impressed with the speedy way the failing kettle was replaced by the caretaker.

Owner's reply: We're so pleased that you had a great stay and enjoyed the area. Sorry that the kettle decided to pack up but as you say- wonderful Sue to the rescue!! We look forward to you staying again.

“Great sized cottage for extended family.”

Grandparents, children and grandchild enjoyed the stay in this cottage. It had everything we needed. The rooms were spacious including the bathroom. The outside area is terraced so not so handy if children want to play but a good playground is only yards away up the road. We had a great time exploring the local area- tramway, resort towns & cliff walks. We found we didn't need to go further afield e.g. Exeter, Torquay, Weymouth which we initially thought we might need to do.The welcome flowers, teabags & milk a thoughtful touch.Sue must be thanked for the cleanliness and presentation of the cottage.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. You are so right about there being lots to do locally, one doesn't need to spend much time in the car once you get here! We will be very pleased to see you again.

Our recent stay at The Old Post Office was lovely! It was very clean, well laid out and catered for everything. The location was great too, very near to loads of beaches. And a couple of pubs!

“Very comfortable, well equipped property”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2014

The Old Post Office had everything we required for a short walking holiday. The kitchen was particularly well equipped. Both pubs in Axmouth serve good food and real ales.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and will welcome you back again any time.

“Very comfortable, welcoming cottage - home from home”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2012

The cottage is presented to a high standard, is very warm and everything is as described. We had a great few days visiting the local area and ate at the pub in Axmouth where they serve good local food and cater for everyone. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area - well worth a visit late October. If you want to take some time out to relax but enjoy the comforts of home, then this is definitely the place to book.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind review. It makes our day to know that our guests have had a great time and found The Old Post Office comfortable. If you would like to come again, we would love to rebook you and offer a 'returer's discount' of 10%. Richard and Julie Shaw

“Beautifully refurbished house, in quiet but well-located village”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2011

The Old Post Office is tucked away in the quiet village of Axmouth, close to tourist magnets such as Seaton and Lyme Regist, but feeling very much like a piece of the Dorset countryside. The house has been recently renovated, and is incredibly well-equipped and comfortable. Not much garden space outside (although enough to sit out in when the weather is good), but a great children's playground just up the road, wonderful walks, and the beach at Seaton only 5 minutes drive away. Thorougly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it highly. Don't miss fossil hunting and the River Cottage cafe in Axminster.
