The Provence region

All the beauty of Provence is practically on your doorstep. Villages perched high up in the Luberon & the Alpilles, the wild Camargue, Roman towns, lavender fields as far as the eye can see on the plateaux of Vaucluse, the jagged peaks of the Dentelles de Montmirail, and the foothills of Provence's highest peak, Mont Ventoux – legendary as one of the most grueling climbs in the Tour de France. Maison des Vignes & Cottages is a renovated 19 Century former farmhouse with adjoining cottages & is situated a mere 6km away from the historic City of Avignon in Provence. Wine lovers will enjoy visiting the caves & private cellars in this area, known as “The Wine Route of the Côtes du Rhône”: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, & Taval are all only a short drive away.

Avignon

Situated a mere 6km away from the historic City of Avignon in Provence (the once Papal City with its famous St Bénezet bridge).

The area is rich in history, tradition and natural beauty and is the perfect place for a break at any time of the year with the most amount of sunshine hours recorded in France.

Wine lovers will enjoy visiting the numerous caves and private cellars in this area, known as “The Wine Route of the Côtes du Rhône” (“La Route des Vins”): the villages of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, and Taval to mention just a few, are all only a short drive away.

For golfers, there are 4 courses within easy driving distance: The Grand Avignon in Vedène; Golf de Chateaublanc in Morière les Avignon; Golf du Moulin in Orange; and Provence Country Club in l'Isle sur la Sorgue.

Why not visit the wonderful festivals during the summer months: Festival d'Avignon, the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange, and the International Piano Festival at la Roque d'Anthéron.

“Très mignon cottage provençal”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2016

Heather & Keith

“A special place to stay in a wonderful area of France”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2014

We had the most wonderful and relaxing week away. Maison des Vignes and the cottages are beautifully presented, with great facilities - the swimming pool is just lovely and a good cool down when the weather was hot! The cottage had everything we needed, and was just right for the two of us. Having the option of cooking indoors or on the BBQ was fantastic. The location is great - nestled within a vineyard, but close enough to main roads to visit the lovely towns and villages of the surrounding area. Heather & Keith's guide to restaurants and places to visit in the local area was superb, and thank you to Jannine, Heather and Keith for your warmth, friendliness, as well as extra tips on parking and places to go that you gave us throughout our stay!
