“Warm, very clean, well run, but slightly expensive for the level of finish”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2017

Good location on main street of Aviemore, very near to shops and restaurants/bars. Layout of the cottage is slightly odd but accommodation is very clean, warm and furniture comfortable. The kitchen is on the small size if 4 were to share. Some aspects were strangely 'unfinished' such as the boiler missing a bottom panel and the doors requiring new draft strips. As a consequence the accommodation had the potential to be first class but was slightly disappointing for the price.

Owner's reply: Thank you for staying with me at The Shelter Stone Cottage. I will look into your comments and appreciate your feedback

“Lovely pet-friendly cottage”

We booked this cottage last minute for a weekend break. The location is great, close to all local amenities. Dorothy met us on arrival and gave our dog Jake a lovely welcome. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you all again

“close to everything”

We stayed there for a week and its been an amazing experience. The house is located in centre of the village, 5-7 minutes walk from Aviemore rail station and bus station to take you up Cairngmore mountain. The house is self-catered which means you buy and eat watever you want. At arrival we were greeted and answered the main questions like how to turn on heating and so on. Otherwise the house was at our own disponibility with a huge garden. We found the house to be cleaned and well maintained. Thank you Dorothy

Owner's reply: I am glad that you had such a good time in The Shelter Stone Cottage and hope to see you back again....Thank you

“October Break”

Just back from 3 nights at Stone Shelter Cottage with my wife and 2 children (6 and 4). We had a lovely time. Dorothy was there to welcome us and show us around. Cottage had a great layout, was well stocked and nice and clean. Great location for exploring Aviemore (short 5 min walk to centre - with 2 kids) and it's surrounding area. Thanks Dorothy

Owner's reply: I am so pleased that you all managed to get a short break at The Shelter Stone Cottage and that you all enjoyed yourselves so much...sorry I wasn't about when you left but my son said thank you for leaving everything so neat and tidy....hopefully will see you back for a longer stay next time!

“Cosy cottage”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2016

We stayed here for a night before the Aviemore half marathon and it was exactly what we needed. It's cosy and warm, great location just off the Main Street and the owner is very helpful. The kitchen was well equipped for a small place and we had everything we needed. There's plenty of games for a longer stay too.

Owner's reply: I'm so glad you had a short but nice stay at The Shelter Stone Cottage. Thank you for leaving everything so neat and tidy. I look forward to seeing you next year!
