The Cairngorm area has some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland and is designated a National Park

The area is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise offering skiing, snowboarding, walking, climbing, cycling, sailing, canoeing, white water rafting, horseriding, shooting, birdwatching and fishing.

The mountains offer a funicular railway (open all year) and the highest restaurant in Great Britain.

Watersports (kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing) are available on nearby Loch Morlich (with a golden, sandy beach) and Loch Insh (also nearby) offers watersports and pleasure boat trips.

Quad biking, clay pigeon shooting, jeep safari tours, a fish farm and lots more are on offer in the Rothiemurchus Estate, 2 miles from the cottage. Glenmore Forest park is also excellent for walks along the river.

For something completely different, you can feed the reindeer on the mountain( the only herd in the U.K.) or try your hand at controlling a team of huskies(no snow required) or even go grass sledging or you can simply enjoy the stunning natural beauty of the National Park with its mountains, lochs, rivers and forests.

Two golf courses are within walking distance of the cottage; one of them the champonship Spey Valley course.

Other local attractions include Landmark forest adventure park, Strathspey steam railway,(runs past the house), Cairngorms reindeer centre, sleddog adventure centre, Freezone Aerial course and Highland Wildlife Park.

“Well equipped house in handy and peaceful location”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2015

Silver Trees had everything we needed for our one week stay. The kitchen is well equipped and the spacious living room has a welcoming stove which was good to have on a couple of cooler evenings. The garden is lovely, completely private with a large picnic bench for eating outdoors. Great location for walking, cycling or driving around and in a very peaceful street. We didn't use the facilities at Dalfaber too often but it was great to have free passes as part of our booking.

Many thanks for your very positive comments.

“Great pet friendly home from home”

Reviewed 31 Dec 2014

A lovely bungalow with everything you would need. Comfortable accommodation with plenty of space for my husband, our dog and I. The house was immaculately clean and was well equipped. The cottage owners kept in good contact with us and were extremely prompt in responding to any questions etc before we arrived. Upon arrival - we were several hours early - we were very lucky to contact the owners and for them to allow us to get in early - after a long drive we were very grateful to get in and settled. A new fridge freezer had just been installed., all other kitchen appliances and equipment were clean and well looked after. As we stayed at christmas we were welcomed with a lovely christmas hamper and real christmas tree - lovely touch. I was a little wary about the heaters as I've never experienced the electric wall heaters before but they were great - instant heat whenever we needed it. The area is stunning - the village was very friendly and with some good shops and facilities. We enjoyed dinner at the old bridge and drinks in mambos which were both dog friendly. We walked our dog in the early morning along the side if the house and up to the wooded area near the golf course. We were told by other local dog walkers that it us permitted to walk on the golf course out if hours - it was a beautiful early morning stroll. We enjoyed Loch en Eilean - lovely walk, beautiful scenery, and we visited Loch Morlich numerous times - it is stunning - don't just stop at the first car park for it tho - drive further to the beach car park - it's worth it. Just beautiful. We also enjoyed a session at the Clay Pigeon shooting at the Rothiemurchus estate - great experience, fabulous staff. Would definitely recommend it, as well as the farm shop at Rothiemurchus. There's so much to do especially if you like the outdoors. Nightlife looked good in aviemore too.

Thank you for your very positive comments on Braeraich. The house has just had a refurbishment and it was lovely to get instant feedback. Pleased to hear that you liked the kitchen with its new large fridge/freezer. Would love to welcome you back next year and thank you once again for taking such good care of the house.

“Cosy Cottage”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2014

Had a lovely stay at this cottage, highly recommend, very warm and comfortable especially in the winter months, great coming in for a day skiing to a warm cosy cottage, plenty of living space and everything you need if staying in to cook a meal. Imagine this would be wonderful to stay in the summer as the garden was lovely, plenty of space to eat outside and even a bbq. Great stay and will book again.

Many thanks for your very positive comments and look forward to welcoming you back next year when you can enjoy the garden.

“Lovely house in perfect location”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2014

We've recently returned from staying in this house with a family of friends. There were 6 of us staying - 4 adults and 2 children. The house was very clean and warm, plenty of hot water always as well. The location was brilliant as only a shirt drive to the ski resort and a nice 20 min stroll into Aviemore town where we found some nice bars and restaurants. The Mountain Cafe is a must for breakfast! We would highly recommend staying in this cheating property.

Delighted to hear that you had a great holiday. I would agree that the house is in a good location, only a few minutes walk from the Dalfaber Club and a pleasant walk from the village. I hope that you managed to visit the new local shops and tried out the new chippy and new pizzeria.

“Warm , Comfortable and clean”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2013

We have stayed here previously and as before found the accomodation to be clean ,warm and well equiped . Included in the rental is a free pass to Dalfaber country club. The property is idealy situated within walkind distance of Aviemore. We have already booked to return.

Good to hear that you have enjoyed your stay once again. Braeriach is certainly in an excellent location for all amenities and is very close to the Dalfaber Golf and Country Club. Looking forward to welcoming you in the near future.

“Great location, dog and child friendly would definitely return”

Reviewed 23 Nov 2012

We spent a great week with our young baby and dog, the bungalow was ideal. Aviemore centre was only a short walk and the country club virtually a stones throw. Cairngorm brewery was only just around the corner an well worth a look. Seemed like Aviemore had plenty to offer families through the year and great for walks. Bridge Inn was dog and baby friendly and we had an evening meal at Papa Rock, great food and very family orientated, dogs allowed in the front bar area. If you have a less than obedient dog (like ours) the garden was not fully enclosed and there was no hot water the day we arrived, the boiler did come on overnight and was fine the rest of the week.

Good to hear that you had a great week. Braeriach is certainly in an excellent location and so close to the Dalfaber Club. We accept that the garden is not fully enclosed but the fact that we lie at the end of a cul-de sac means there is no passing traffic. Hope that our prompt reply solved the issue with the booster switch.

“Exactly as described if not better”

Lovely to hear that you all, including the dog, had a great time at Braeriach. Hope to hear from you again at some point.

“A real home from home”

The house was everything it was advertised to be!. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and had everything that you could need. Decor was modern and the fresh flowers in the dining room was a lovely touch. Hope to return in the future.Would definately recommend this accomodation

Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for looking after the cottage so well.
