“Marsh Mills Cottage a unique holiday let”
Marsh Mills Cottage has a lovely, quite and unique location on the higher reaches of the Avon estuary. Guests also have the benefit of the use of the garden which runs alongside the mill stream. The facilities provided by the owners are well thought out and go well beyond what is usually found in self catering holiday accommodation. Maggie and John are always very helpful with local advice to make your stay completely relaxed and enjoyable.
Owner's reply: Many thanks for you review, so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our cottage, looking forward to seeing you again some day. Maggie
“Tranquility down a lane”
We arrived on Sat 1st July and were met by the cottage owners John & Maggie. We couldn't wait settle in to our home for the next week, If you are a fisherman you can dangle a rod over the balcony and have chance of catching Mullet, Bass and eels that make their way along the tidal river to the cottage at high tide. There are multiple beaches within a few miles which are accessible without having to walk too far after parking your car. Kingsbridge is only 4 miles away for shopping and nice restaurants. The weather was very kind to us and we spent many hours with a beer and a glass of wine on our balcony overlooking the river. Unfortunately it was over too soon and we were making our way home with some wonderful memories of this delightful cottage and fabulous hosts. Thanks John And Maggie We will see you again soon.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for this wonderful review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to seeing you again soon! Maggie and John
“Such a relaxing break”
We enjoyed our stay at Marsh Mills in Aveton Gifford last week. The accommodation was very comfortable and the surroundings beautiful. I made everyone jealous by sharing photos every day. We were wonderfully looked after by the owner's friends who were in charge in Maggie and John's absence. We walked every day in the surrounding countryside, enjoying the tranquility and scenery alongside the tidal road, around the nature reserve and further afield. The nearby beaches were delightful and with supermarkets within a short driving distance we were able to find everything we needed to cater for ourselves. We also enjoyed fresh duck eggs from the property's own ducks. Delicious! When the only thing hubby can find to complain about (apart from some rainy weather) is the size of the tea mugs I feel this holiday was perfect!
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind review! Sorry we did not meet you, but glad you enjoyed yourselves, despite some wet days. Should you decide to come again, please put in a special request for the appropriate 'hubby sized' mugs. Best wishes and thanks again, Maggie.
“Delightful peaceful cottage”
We booked last minute and slotted into the only week available, it was fully booked and with good reason. The owner Maggie was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, even lending us her personal canoe to use (sans dog). The cottage was clean, functional and set next to the river with the sound of running water sending us to sleep each night. Despite being an exceptionally hot week week, the cottage with its 2ft thick walls always remained comfortable. There is a local dog friendly pub serving food and cream teas a couple of minutes along the lane, also a community run local shop which I recommend using. There are some great walks and cycle rides all around, I was also offered the use of one of the many outhouses to store my mountain bike. All three of us had a fantastic time, Maggie being a font of local knowledge sent us to some of the best beaches just a short drive away, the only regret was that it wasn't two weeks.
“This cottage is a superb base from which you can have a wonderful holiday.”
This quiet peaceful cottage is a little gem, situated within easy reach of a number of interesting N.T. properties and an easy ride to the sea, also Ideal for local country walks. The cottage itself is very well equipped and the hosts very informative and helpful with local knowledge and places to visit. We have already booked up for next year as we were so impressed.
