Throughout the year, our two beautiful homes in Askrigg, North Yorkshire offer you the opportunity to spend time at the heart of one of England's most magnificent landscapes. Whether your interests lie in active holidays - demanding high-level hill walks, off-road cycling, or quieter riverside strolls the North Yorkshire Dales are unparalleled with outstanding scenery and a rich cultural heritage . Within striking distance, the cities of York and Ripon, and the towns of Richmond and Harrogate offer further alternatives.

Askrigg itself dates back over many centuries and today is a vibrant community with much going on in and around the village. The Old Mill cottages are tucked away in a quiet lane just off the main street, and are a stone's throw from local amenities, including a general store, tea shops, three public houses (all serving food) and the Village Kitchen, which provides home cooked takeaway meals and packed lunches, breads and cakes.

There is also a church (CofE) and a children's play area within a short walk. Footpaths and rural walks are easily accessible, and some can be reached without walking on roads. On the outskirts of Askrigg is a small leisure centre with a gym and outdoor sports facilities. The nearby towns of Hawes and Leyburn provide weekly markets, and shopping in small, independent supermarkets and specialist retailers.

The cottages are maintained to an excellent standard and are extremely well equipped - a real home from home! One well behaved dog in each cottage welcome for a small surcharge.

Twin beds and built-in wardrobes and chest of drawers, Adjoining family bathroom with heated towel rail

All main rooms have electric thermostatically controlled radiators.

Outside

A secluded patio garden with a table and chairs so you can enjoy an evening glass of wine. There is also an outhouse where bikes can be securely stored. Fencing is also available to secure the gardens fro those visitors with a dog.

The cottages are located in the heart of upper Wensleydale in the picturesque village of Askrigg. In the 1970s this was the location for the village of Darrowby, which was the backdrop for the popular series, 'All Creatures Great and Small'. The Old Mill cottages are tucked away in a quiet lane just off the main street, and are a stone's throw from local amenities, including a general store, three public houses (all offering food) and the Village Kitchen, which provides home cooked takeaway meals, packed lunches, freshly baked bread, cakes, pies and much more.

Footpaths and rural walks are easily accessible, and some can be reached without walking on roads. On the outskirts of Askrigg is a small leisure centre with a gym and outdoor sports facilities. The nearby towns of Hawes and Leyburn provide weekly markets, and shopping in small, independent supermarkets and specialist retailers.
