“Haven from the rat-race”
Wonderful cottage, fell in love with HUGE leather sofa, views, the quiet, the poolside cups of tea at 8.00 a.m. (yes in March - very sheltered). A bit of an uphill hike over muddy fields to the quintessential Tissington but the walk back very easy (go figure!). Just a fabulous place to be, well equipped cottage, warm and snug - except for the kitchen which was a bit chilly underfoot, just take your slippers though and the view from the window will be worth the chilblains! Owners not on site for our weekend but reading the visitor's book and my own on-line virtual relationship you will very well looked after without interference I am sure.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review - I'm so glad you had a good break and only sorry that we weren't here to meet you. Thank you too for the comments about the kitchen floor - very helpful. I have now put a large rug on the floor to take away any chill.
“Idyllic retreat in some of Derbyshires most beautiful countryside”
We spent a wonderful five days at Swallows Cottage. It was wonderfully equipped and every need catered for. Izzy was an attentive host and nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect and the standard of accommodation very high indeed. Well situated for a wide range of family attractions and only 10 minutes from both Ashbourne and Dovedale. Highly recommended and faultless.
Owner's reply: We are so pleased that you had such a good time at Swallow's Cottage and made the most of the surrounding area. We are pretty biased when it comes to appreciating the local countryside and so it is lovely to hear when guests have really enjoyed themselves and loved it as much as we do! Thank you so much for your lovely review - come back and see us again soon - Derbyshire is equally beautiful, if not more dramatic in Autumn and Winter.
“Perfect for all the family”
We booked the cottage as a last minute break for a weekend. It was so lovely and in such a beautiful setting. The interior is decorated tastefully and the garden and pool magnificent. The owners were really helpful and it isn't a problem sharing the grounds with them, the cottage is ideal if you have an active family but also perfect if you just want to relax. We cycled the tissington trail and also did a short walk one day. The surrounding area is gorgeous and easily accessible. My only regret is we took too much food and missed and opportunity to eat out at many of the lovely pubs. We would go back without hesitation and recommend it for couples, walkers, cyclists and families with children over 8.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. It is great to hear when guests have had such an enjoyable time, not only here, but exploring Derbyshire and making the most of the beautiful countryside. There is always so much to do and visit - but equally important just to relax by the pool, too. Come back and see us soon!
“Total Relaxation in a beautiful cottage, in beautiful, peaceful location.”
This is a gorgeous cottage, extremely comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. The use of owners swimming pool is a big bonus. Owners are very welcoming and helpful. There are some very good places to eat within a short drive. A very good area for walking and cycling. Would most definitely recommend.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. I am so pleased that you managed to catch the glorious Derbyshire sunshine and use the pool!
“Beautiful, well equipped, comfortable and a cut above the norm for self catering accomodation.”
Swallows Cottage is a superb property. It oozes style and comfort from the moment you walk in. It is beautifully furnished, very clean and well equipped. Bedding and towels are all high quality and so clean and plentiful. We were lucky enough to stay in 30 degree sunshine so the pool was brilliant. The pool, like the cottage is clean and well kept. The surrounding gardens are immaculate and very pretty. The owners Izzy and Simon were very welcoming and despite the fact that their home is next door it did not feel instrusive at all. Our children ( 11and 7) loved the place and did not want to leave. I agree that it is unsuitable for really young children as I think you would be anxious about them making a mess of the lovely furniture, carpets etc and there is a pond in the gardens. It provides a base for a really relaxing holiday and we will definately be back.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We loved having you here and it's always great to know that the pool is being used. What a Summer!
“Gem of a place”
If you want comfort, home from home facilities, beautiful surroundings and a great welcome, Swallow Cottage is the place for you. We stayed there in April when the weather was not particularly warm but really enjoyed our stay. If the weather allows you to make use of the pool it would make the place perfect.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We have tried to make Swallows Cottage as comfortable as possible so it's great to hear that you so enjoyed your stay. Come back in the sunshine and enjoy the pool!
