- Very Good
The Grooms Quarters is a fabulous holiday home with the most amazing large queen size beds in two of the 3 bedrooms. Ann provides lovely extras such as wine and cake which was very much appreciated on arrival. Will definitely be back next year.
“Lovely weekend getaway!”
Very accommodating hosts with complimentary brownies and wine on arrival. 8 of us on the trip and we all enjoyed our visit. The house is well kept with beautiful surrounding scenery.
“A beautiful home in fantastic surroundings”
We arrived on the Friday afternoon to a delightful welcome basket which included the most amazing home made brownies. The cottage is clean, well decorated and boasts terrific views of the countryside. It is out of the way with the nearest shop around a 20 minute drive, but this means that the surrounding area is so tranquil with the only sounds the “baaa” from the sheep! The owner lives right next door so is on hand should you need her, they’re very welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend and definitely stay here again. The beds are comfy, the bathrooms are modern and well maintained. The kitchen is very traditional with a farmhouse style table and Aga. The living room has a traditional wood fire which makes it very cosy on an evening. There’s lots of games to play too, such as trivial pursuit. There’s a nice Outdoor furniture set overlooking the beautiful garden too. WiFi is provided which was welcomed as all of us struggled with our phone connection/signal regardless of our network. There’s lots of lovely walks around the area. My children fell in love with a local pig, which they named Edna
The pictures don't do the place justice. It was a gorgeous, large, fully equipped property in beautiful surroundings. Whilst Ann and her family live next door and were on hand, we didn't see them throughout our 2 night stay. We would love to come back.
Had a lovely Christmas at the grooms quarters, very spacious rooms , beautiful countryside and views, a 20 min drive to the market town of Ashbourne, pubs, cafes, shops. The only negative is that the range oven is not working and the single oven is not adequate for a party of 6 ,I believe the owner is sorting this out for Future guests .
Owner's reply: We are so pleased you had a lovely Christmas in the Groom's Quarters. So sorry you had a problem with the electric oven - when checked, the side shelf support, had been assembled the wrong way up - we have spoken to our cleaner. Do hope to see you again. Kind regards. Ann
Set in picturesque grounds ...with nice walks This cottage is well equipped with everything a person will need ...The decor and rooms are fantastic...and the wood burner makes the lounge look and feel cosy...the owners are friendly and very helpful ...I hope to go back again next year
“Perfect family friendly house and grounds”
The grooms quarters was a fabulous place to meet friends for a weekend. Lots of room for two families and four children. The open fire in the evening was my favourite place but loved seeing the sheep … More
“An amazing weekend!”
This was booked as a family short break (six adults and two small children) and it was fantastic! The children had lots of room to run around, play and explore and also go and see the animals in the surrounding fields. The bedrooms were spacious and clean and the communal areas fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for the owner Ann who allowed us to use the BBQ and the childrens toys that were already there. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and there is lots to explore in the surrounding areas. Close by are a variety of shops for all requirements as well which range from M&S to Aldi. Superb!
“fabulous stay over New Year”
as other reviewers have said the photos do not do justice to this cottage - it is cosy, comfortable and inviting, with everything you could possibly need. Ann was very welcoming & helpful, leaving mince pies, milk in a jug & even teabags in the pot on our arrival. surrounded by beautiful countryside there is great walking on the doorstep & further afield. would definitely stay again!
“Would go again because....”
Great classic generous house in the Dales, restored and furnished in a high quality, simple and well-judged way. Surrounding land and countryside beautiful. Loved the log stove fire.
