“Brilliant house for a fantastic hoilday.”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2013

As an extended family group (aged 14 to 80) we booked Hollybank house as a base to explore the Peak District during July 2013. The adventure was an 80th birthday present for "granny". The house was excellent and suited all our needs perfectly. From the very beginning, finding the arrival pack complete with lovely note and chocolates for the birthdy girl, to our very last moments at the house our experience was excellent. On returning to Hollybank house after each day's exploring we made full use of the brand new patio area at the rear of the garden and spent our time in the warmth of the evening discussing the events of the day. There is a log chalet on the patio were we also played darts and giant draughts. We also found loads of other garden games stored in the chalet as well as a large gas barbcue upon which I was able to cook for all of us at one go. Ashbourne is a beautiful quaint village and central to many of the attractions of the area. It also has a number of eating establishments the details of which can be found in the house were the Owners have provided extensive and detailed information covering all aspects, such as travel maps, menus, instructions and much more. We had a lovely relaxing time in the house which was a home from home and would recommend it to anyone, especially larger groups.

“Beautiful home”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2013

We spent a lovely week at Hollybank House in May this year. The house is more like a home and there are lots of lovely personal touches which made our stay even more relaxing. The bedrooms make you feel like you are staying in a boutique B&B rather than a holiday home. The house comfortably accommodates 12+ without you feeling like you're on top of each other. The garden area is lovely and will be even better with the summer house. It's a shame the kitchen isn't a bit bigger with more work surface space which is needed when you are catering for a large group. It is however very well equipped. The rugs on the wooden floors should be secured to make them less of a hazard. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The welcome basket was very welcome indeed and the girls loved the sweets. I would definitely recommend Hollybank House to large families or groups of friends.

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2013

Our family of four stayed here for 3 weeks. On arrival we found a warm and welcoming house that was extensively equipped with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The weather was cold but the house was beautifully warm and only a short walk to all the local amenities. We had a fantastic stay seeing our extended family and the house enabled us to entertain family and friends in a very relaxed manner. It is readily apparent that the owners take pride in their house and I can honestly say that they wanted our stay to be a memorable one.

“Could not have asked for more”

Reviewed 15 May 2013

We had a wonderful weekend at Hollybank with three generations of the family celebrating an 80th birthday. The house is very well equipped with high quality furnishings, bedding, kitchen equipment, etc. It was spotlessly clean on arrival, warm and comfortable and with a wonderful welcome pack. Ron and Jo could not have been friendlier and more helpful - down to the birthday card and chocs for Mum!

“Excellent facilities for the whole family and customer service outstanding”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2013

The property catered for our family ages 7years to 80 years very well. The welcome hamper including birthday cake was well chosen.. The bedrooms were supremely comfortable and the whole experience was superb. Proximity to the town and Derbyshire make this large house ideal for a break.

“5 ***** Delightful, spacious house - well-equipped with a taste of luxury”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2012

Hollybank rates a 5 star and is a delightful, well-equipped house! There are touches of luxury which are most unexpected in a holiday let. We stayed for Christmas with a family of 9. There was a generous hamper to greet on our arrival. The kitchen has a wonderful array of equipment and we had no problems with cooking a very large turkey meal. The house is welcoming and roomy. TV's in all bedrooms. Luxurious bath robes. Great showers and comfy beds. A huge selection of games for all ages. Added to all this, the house is only a few minutes walk into the centre of Ashbourne with its quaint cafes and shops. The owners have obviously given much thought and attention to detail making this a superb place to stay.
