Location description from owner

The Province of Leinster region

Arthurstown is a small picturesque village in south west County Wexford perched at the edge of Hook Head peninsula and facing onto Waterford Estuary. Situated where the Three Sisters rivers meet the sea, it's only 3 km to the village of Duncannon with its fine beach more than a kilometer long, 1km to Ballyhack where the ferry leaves for its five minute trip to Waterford, Ireland's oldest city and the popular seaside village of Dunmore East and a 15 minute drive to Hook Lighthouse , the oldest working lighthouse in the world. They say on the Hook you can find a beach a day for a fortnight so allow plenty time for your break away!Arthurstown is only 20km from the historic town of New Ross and 13km from John F. Kennedy Memorial Park , 623 acres of stunning gardens dedicated to the memory of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy . If you're looking for an urban break from the coast, Wexford town might fit the bill , only 37 kms away.An easy trip from Dublin and Rosslare and even from Cork to the west and yet when you get here it feels like a world away.Arthurstown is well known for Dunbrody House Hotel and The Local Pub . Home to celebrity chefs Kevin Dundon and Richard Corrigan who love it here. We love it here too ! Come and try it yourself : - )

“Idyllic”

Great little place to get away from it all. We were given lots of advice before we arrived on cycle rides and places to visit by the owner. Would be good if a guide was provided for local shops and resturants.

Many thanks for taking time to do this review. We really appreciate it. We now have a website with details of shops, restaurants, beaches, places to visit etc and our guests find that very useful. Thanks again .

“Fab views, peaceful and cosy”

A wonderful little cottage right across the road from the estuary where we watched the birds, yachts, cargo ships and a cruise liner slowly sailing past! Stunning views, and so relaxing and peaceful, we loved every day and night here. A comfy bed and a great wood burner for the evenings in. A great base to explore both Wexford and Waterford. Loved chatting to the locals who are friendly and helpful. Local restaurants and pubs to give a particular mention, were The Local at Dunbrody House, The Strand in Duncannon and the best fish n chips ever from The Hollow:)

That's fantastic you had a lovely time and many thanks for your lovely review. It really is a little piece of magic . The views change with the changing tides and seasons and we never tire of it. Hope to see you another time :-)

“Lovely little fishermans cottage and a great base to explore the sunny south east.”

Lovely cottage to relax and unwind . A great base to explore the area on bikes. The owner very kindly emailed loads of info which was of great help and as suggested Loop Head well worth a visit.

It's great you enjoyed your stay despite the bad weather! It's heaven for cyclists in this area as there are so many places to see within a short distance , and good cafes too :-) . Happy to hear you had a nice relaxing week. Many thanks.

Everybody that's stayed there to date has had a great experience , such good memories of the house , the area and of course the stunning views :-) . I love the accommodation, very quaint but lovely. All mod cons provided. I loved the stove and the comfort of a fire if needed, the location was perfect and the views were to die for .

That is super news to us that you had such a good holiday in The Beach Pearl! We never tire of the views when we stay there. Thank you for your comments and possibly see you again next year :-)

“Fantastic views, beautiful accomadation, so peaceful, everything so close.”

I could not believe how beautiful this old house has been renovated with such great taste and style, keeping in mind the old sea faring world. Siting inside watching the tide going in and out, Paradise. So close to all the local top tourist spots, the Hook Lighthouse, Loftus Hall , a must on a Saturday night for the Ghost tour. Dunbrody house , a 5 minute walk from your door, fantastic food. Watching the ferry in the distance crossing from Munster to Leinster in less than 5 minutes. J F Kennedy house and park 10 mins drive, The Dunbrody ship in New Ross a must. The beaches, what can one say but WOW. Neighbours so helpful and friendly, best holiday ever.

Delighted you had such a nice time on your romantic break away :-) . I see you've booked another week there soon so that has to be a good sign ! Hopefully the weather will be as good for you as last time.
