Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

Unspoilt countryside and wide open spaces, villages of character and historical attractions, rivers and canals, vineyards and towns in the colours so typical of the South of France: Midi-Pyrénées is all about discovery, exploration & new experiences. Famous for its gastronomy, friendly and endearing, this region takes up much of Southwestern France between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

There are lots of tourist attractions which include the stunning beauty of man-made structures such as Millau Viaduct and the Canal des Deux Mers, the beautiful scenery of the natural parks, medieval gems (Saint Cirq-Lapopie, Cordes sur Ciel, etc.) and also magnificent natural attractions like the Cirque de Gavarnie and Pont d'Espagne.

The dense network of trails here is every walker's and hiker's dream: a total of 30,000 km of waymarked footpaths that make this region an attractive proposition where people come to feel at one with nature.

The ski resorts are dynamic, small and friendly, with lots of sporting options on offer. And there's plenty going on down in the valleys too, in villages that are noticeably unspoilt.

Cyclists come from far and wide to climb the Col du Tourmalet and follow the route of the Tour de France in the Pyrenees. But in Midi-Pyrénées cycling is something you can enjoy all over the region. You can cruise alongside the Canal des Deux Mers, pedal around the magnificent Lot Valley and explore the roads of Tarn in the saddle, cycling from pretty village to historical attraction: Midi-Pyrénées offers a fabulous choice of cycling routes.
