Rock Cottage is a delightful, newly and sympathetically renovated 2 bedroom detached stone character cottage set in a beautiful woodland location a short stroll to stunning coastline on the edge of the village of Storth within the Arnside Silverdale Area of Outstanding Beauty in South Lakeland, Cumbria.
Rock Cottage is pet friendly and we will accept up to two well-behaved dogs for a small charge.
With a quality wooden hand built kitchen, range cooker and Belfast sink, along with a good range of quality kitchenware you'll positively enjoy rustling up a cooked breakfast in the cottage kitchen, maybe heading out for a walk following one of the many woodland or coastal trails from the front door afterwards.
Perhaps head out for a visit to one of the beautiful local villages in the afternoon, such as Arnside with its attractive promenade with stunning coastal views over the bay towards the mountains and a range of independent shops, or a stroll down to the doggy-friendly local pub for an early evening meal.
Maybe you'll spot some deer in the surrounding woods as you sit on the cottage patio enjoying a drink in the evening, or retire indoors if the temperature drops and put a couple of logs in the wood burning stove in the lovely lounge-dining room with its generous squashy leather sofa. Nestle down into cosy sheepskins and blankets and enjoy the view into the woods over a mug of hot chocolate.
No need to fall out of date while you're away with unlimited wifi, large screen Panasonic HD LCD TV, Humax digital TV recorder and hi fi with iPod dock. There's also a landline telephone available so you can give a number to relatives who want to stay in touch - if you want to! Or just enjoy being offline during your stay - Rock Cottage has a selection of board games and books including guides to the local area and plentiful wildlife and a range of contemporary, classic and literary fiction.
You might want to end the day enjoying a soak in Rock Cottage's fresh and relaxing modern country bathroom before collapsing into the comfortable king size iron bed with quality high thread count pure cotton bedding. No traffic noise or oppressive street lighting to interrupt your dreams - but you might hear an owl's hoot or the call of a rutting stag.
The cottage has full size 3ft single bunk beds in the second bedroom, and we also provide a basket of toys, some childrens' books and optional cot and high-chair for little guests.
The cottage was built around 200 years ago by a sailor and has much character which has been retained during careful and sympathetic renovation.

The Cumbria region
The Lake District and Arnside-Silverdale AONB are situated in the north-west of England. If you're seeking natural beauty this is the place to visit. The highest mountains in England, the deepest and longest lakes, beautiful coastline and stunning woodland, all abound. If you love to get active outdoors, or simply appreciate beauty in nature, then a visit is a must.
As well as the lure of the mountains and boating opportunities on the lakes, the area offers a wide range of activities for all ages and tastes including but certainly not limited to: canoeing; horse riding; climbing; chic shopping; a jazz cinema; arts centres; a motor museum; steam railways; historic houses; galleries and gardens; play barns; fine restaurants and hearty traditional pubs to the World of Beatrix Potter.
The tranquil village of Storth is situated in the Arnside-Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Lakeland. The village boasts beautiful coastline with views over the bay to the mountains, a post-office-cum-local shop, traditional coastal pub (pet friendly), village green with childrens' playground and access to plentiful walks.
Within the AONB walking and cycling routes amid delightful countryside abound, as well as the pretty coastal villages of Arnside and Silverdale, numerous good pubs and eateries, Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, South Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, golf course with public access, swimming and leisure facilities and a range of outdoor pursuits. Supermarkets are available in nearby Milnthorpe and Carnforth.
Kendal and the main attractions of the Lake District are a short drive.
