The Ionian Islands region

Corfu, or as it is known locally Kerkyra, is the northernmost island in the Ionian Sea and the westenmost part of Greece. This beautiful island is densely covered with olive groves and cypruss trees, whilst fringed with idyllic beaches, coves and the crystal clear turquoise sea. Inland you can still find unspoilt, traditional villages where you can still encounter donkeys being used as transport.Corfu is roughly 40 miles long and 20 miles across at the widest point. The highest peak being Mount Pantokrator. With a typical Mediterranean climate, summers are hot and sunny and winters are mild and often rainy, so the island remains green all year round. In spring, Corfu is well known for its abundance of wild flowers, including many rare orchids. In the past Corfu has had many rulers and each has left it's legacy of buildings and culture. There are Ancient Greek and Roman archaeological remains, Byzantine Churches, Ventian mansions, French arcades and British Palaces to name just a few.Corfu cuisine is steeped in history and tradition. It is neither spicy or bland, but rich in the flavours of the Mediterranean. Specialities consists of local ingredients found on the island.

Arillas

......ARILLAS....Away from mass tourism, the very friendly resort of Arillas is the perfect place to completely relax and wind down. If you like sandy beaches, crystal clear seas, beautiful countryside, fauna and flora, magnificent sunsets, a good choice of tavernas serving a variety of dishes and the most hospitable friendly people, then Arillas is for you.Arillas is ideally situated between Agios Georgios and Agios Stefanos bays and close to Afionas, said to be the most beautiful village in Corfu.A holiday in Arillas is perfect for everyone - families with young children, couples [ young and old ] even if you holiday on your own, you will be made to feel most welcome. Evenings in Arillas are focused on the many family run tavernas. There are a few cocktail bars which offer some entertainment. Greek evenings are often held, where everyone is encouraged to join in.Watersports are available for the more energetic and boat hire. A 30 minute drive away is the Corfu Golf Club. This 18-hole course has been praised by many as one of golf players best kept secrets in Europe, also Aqualand, one of Europe's largest waterparks offers a great day out. There are several shops in Arillas. Mini-markets, bakeries, pharmacy, gift shops which sell everything from clothes to jewellery and local crafts. There is also a travel agency where excursions and local cruises can be booked and an ATM. The views from Afionas are some of the most outstanding in Corfu. Views of Arillas and the wonderful sunsets on one side of the headland and the view looking down onto Agios Georgios bay on the other. From Afionas you can walk to the secluded Porto Timoni beaches. This beautiful, traditional village has typical Greek white-wash houses decorated with an array of colourful flowers, narrow streets, a small craft shop, a bell tower and some excellent tavernas.

“Perfection.”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2015

We have just returned from our third visit to Villa Theia, and the magic does not diminish. The space and privacy the villa provides makes is an ideal place for a three generation family to relax. Even hard to please teenagers turn into contented happy people. The view towards the sea is stunning and photographs, although fabulous, can not show the true beauty of the villa's position. It has to be seen to be believed. Villa Theia is beautifully designed, tastefully furnished and immaculately maintained. From the minute you arrive you feel at home. A five minute drives brings you to the quiet resort of Arillas, where there are excellent restaurants and a good beach. Further afield (ten minutes drive) is the beautiful beach of San Stefanos . Sara and Gary, who live nearby, could not be more friendly or helpful – nothing is too much trouble. They set a very high standard, and from our experience, this is the best equipped and maintained villa we have ever stayed in. To prove our words we have booked again for 2016.

“Total Relaxation”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2015

If you are looking for a laid back and relaxing vacation Villa Theia is a great bet. The villa has perhaps the best view of the sunset in the area and a superior pool. The house is comfortable and well equipped. One more big plus - modern plumbing! Arillas is a cozy community with an excellent beach. Local shops have everything you might need, most notably an excellent fruit and veg store. Your hosts, Sara and Gary, are accommodating, understanding, experienced and truly lovely people.

“Home away from home”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2014

From the moment we walked into Villa Theia until we the day we left, we truly felt as if we were at home. Everything is well organized and managed. The villa itself is much nicer in real life than the pictures. The pool is fabulous. The views are stunning. And nearby is the best beach in Corfu for families, Arillas. Our hosts could not have been more gracious, friendly and attentive. The area has a terrific fruit and veg store for those interested in cooking. And the plumbing is English! We've stayed at other villas in the area and they do not compare. I believe that the main difference is that Villa Theia was built by the owners for themselves and they lived in it for years before building another Villa nearby, where they currently reside. So, all the little touches are there. Whatever you need, it's already provided. All in all, a terrific experience. Our family will definitely return. I could not recommend it more highly.

Many thanks Chris, for taking the time to write this fabulous review. We're happy that you were all so comfortable and enjoyed your stay at the villa. It was a pleasure meeting you and we look forward to meeting you again in the not too distant future.

“The perfect place to relax and rest your eyes on the stunning view”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

Villa Theia answered to all our expectations! A clean and beautiful house, a nice pool, a great view with marvelous sunsets and been taking care of by one of the friendliest couple we have ever met, Bob and Penny. With a rental car we explored the north of Corfu when the life at the villa got to quiet, but we always tried to reach back to see the sunsets from the terasse. Our three daughters, 8-14 years, loved the place and want back next year. I agree and hope to pay Villa Theia a new visit. Rune, Solbjoerg, Live, Ane and Tiril Mandal, Norway
