Description

No.7 is situated on the seafront with the historical Arbroath harbour and Arbroath Cliffs on its doorstep. It is a large seaside cottage with a light airy feel. Its perfect for large groups or families, or if you are someone that likes lots of space.

No.7 has a large open plan living room and dining area that feels light and airy but cosy in the evenings. The bedrooms all have amazing rugged views of the North Sea and the Bellrock lighthouse 10 miles out. No. 7, built in 1770, has always had strong links to the fishing community and is still owned and run by a local fishing family. This fantastic family home has now been given a new lease of life for everyone to enjoy.

We live just a number of doors down so if you require any help we can be with you in a matter of minutes. We will be able to show you around the house and deliver the keys to you. We also own and run The Commercial Inn a few doors down so you are more than welcome to come and have a pint with us

Or why not join us on a fishing trip or a sail to the Bellrock Lighthouse. Inchcape Marine services run these daily just off shore out of Arbroath Harbour. However if you are a more private person or are looking for a quiet holiday with thoughtful walks along the beach or long trips into the Glens you will be left alone but safe in the knowledge that we are only a phone call away if required.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

No.7 is situated on one of the oldest streets in Arbroath. It looks out towards the North Sea which is just across the road. Just down from this you will be able to see Mackays boat builders which is still producing boats to this day. A small 2 minute stroll will take you to the Arbroath harbour in one direction and a few minutes stroll the other way will take you to the Victoria park, a beautiful beach and the Arbroath Cliffs.

Arbroath

Old Shorehead is one of the oldest streets and communities in Arbroath located at the 'Fit O the Toon'. Arbroath is famous now for its local fish delicacy the 'Arbroath Smokie' and you can still smell the locals smoking them as you walk around the the harbour area. Lesser known is that Arbroath Abbey, founded in 1178 by William the Lion, was the site of the Declaration of Independence for Scotland signed by Robert the Bruce in 1320. You can still see evidence of the monks work at the Arbroath cliffs where they cut away the stone to make their Abbey. The Arbroath Cliffs has also played host to many a smuggler in its time. The Arbroath Harbour is a stones throw away and even though the fishing boats are gone the boat yard is still active and is one of the last places in the UK that has the skills to build wooden boats. The marina plays host to many pleasure craft and a number of sea charters. There are lots of fish and chip shops and places to buy ice cream in the Summer or Winter if it takes your fancy. The High Street is a minute walk away which boasts a fantastic library with lots of local history, pubs and restaurants. Local supermarkets are within a couple of minutes drive or a 10 minute walk. Angus is particularly well known for its golf and two local 18 hole courses are the Arbroath Artisan and Letham Grange. Carnoustie and St Andrews Golf Courses are also only 15 minutes and an hours drive away respectively. Great for visiting the Golf Opens. For families there is the local beach, Victoria Park and the West Links. The Links boasts a brand new play park on the sea front. Kerr's Miniature Railway also runs weekends during the Summer, fun for young and old alike. Hill walkers will be pleased with easy accessibility by car to the Angus Glens and fantastic coastal walks from the house. Aberdeen is a 1 hour drive up the A90 and Dundee is a 20 minute drive down the A92.

“Superb Family Stay”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2016

Stumbled across this lovely home whilst looking for a place for a family weekend get together. From moment of booking right to through to staying Alex was excellent to deal with. Lovely large clean house right on the seafront with a few nice resaurants near by. We had a great relaxing stay with the added piece of mind that Alex and family stay nearby. Cracking house, cracking hosts and will definitely return. Brilliant.......thank you

Hi Craig Glad you enjoyed your stay with us welcome back any time Cheers Alex
