Description from owner

Description

Our cottage is ideally situated in one of the narrow streets in the old part of Appledore, and a few seconds walk from the Quay and local shops. It is a typical fisherman's cottage that has been modernised and now is a cosy and comfortable holiday home. We use it ourselves regularly with my husband being a keen golfer he enjoys the local golf course just a mile away. Self-catering is made as easy as possible with a small supermarket and fantastic delicatessen just along the Quay as well as large Morrisons in Bideford. If local fish and chips is your thing we have two both within a minutes walk. There are also excellent tearooms just around the corner in Market Street as well as pubs with bar and restaurant food within a very short walk. Pets welcome, Appledore is heaven for dogs with walks along the coast accessible from the cottage.

Further details

Free parking is available along the Quay there is also a large council car park, 100 yards away, also on the Quay.

Location description from owner

The England region

The stunning beaches of North Devon and its world renowned reputation for wildlife, nature and beauty set a most amazing backdrop for the coastal towns and countryside villages that make up the area that is Devon. Whatever the season, there is no better place in England than North Devon. The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail.Appledore is ideally located within easy reach of the harbours of Clovelly and Lynmouth which are also perfect places to relax. Meander through the streets of Lynmouth and take a ride on the unique water powered cliff railway to the twin town of Lynton which is perched high on the cliffs. Clovelly is another of the prettiest coastal village where it feels as if time stood still. The only means of transport on these famous cobbled streets are donkeys and sleds.Just a short drive from Appledore (approx. 2 miles) is the beach at Westward Ho and surrounding areas are recognised as possibly some of the finest and cleanest in Europe - with two miles of soft golden sand, plenty of rock pools and amazing surf.A little further afield along the coastline surrounding a natural harbour is Ilfracombe with its Victorian architecture, Esplanade and famous Tunnels Beach. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats sailing in and out.

“Quaint , comfy and convenient”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2016

Sinbad cottage was ideal for myself,my husband and our two small dogs. The kitchen was well equipped and the living room was cosy, however , there is a steep staircase to the bedrooms . The main bedroom was comfortable and quiet. The cottage provided an excellent base for exploring the area , both on foot and by car. We easily found parking in the large car park on the quay and paid for the week as there was no parking outside the property. However, this car park is only a short walk from Sinbad cottage and we were able to drop our luggage off near the cottage on arrival. It was such a relaxing holiday we will definitely be returning
