Apple Tree Cottage is located just 100 yards from the quayside, in the centre of this busy village which is often referred to as an early days Padstow. The cottage is situated within a private courtyard, along with our other two cottages (Mulberry Tree Cottage & Pear Tree Cottage). The cottage has easy access to all amenities of the village, including five pubs, restaurants, supermarket with delicatessen, post office, news agency, arts and craft shops, art galleries and museum.
Apple Tree Cottage is what we call an upside-down house. You enter the cottage from the courtyard into the kitchen/dining area, with stairs leading upstairs to the lounge. The kitchen and dining area are both well equipped. The lounge is bright and airy with double french doors out onto its own terrace area with views over the communal garden and furnished with a table, chairs and parasol enabling you to dine al fresco.
From the lounge you will find the double bedroom with chest of drawers, wardrobe, TV with built-in DVD and hairdryer. The stylish bathroom is ensuite to the bedroom and has a bath with over shower, toilet and basin.

The Devon region
The stunning beaches of North Devon and its world renowned reputation for wildlife, nature and beauty set a most amazing backdrop for the coastal towns and countryside villages that make up the area that is Devon. Whatever the season, there is no better place in England than North Devon.
The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail.
Appledore is ideally located within easy reach of the harbours of Clovelly and Lynmouth which are also perfect places to relax. Meander through the streets of Lynmouth and take a ride on the unique water powered cliff railway to the twin town of Lynton which is perched high on the cliffs. Clovelly is another of the prettiest coastal village where it feels as if time stood still. The only means of transport on these famous cobbled streets are donkeys and sleds.
Just a short drive from Appledore (approx. 2 miles) is the beach at Westward Ho and surrounding areas are recognised as possibly some of the finest and cleanest in Europe - with two miles of soft golden sand, plenty of rock pools and amazing surf.
A little further afield along the coastline surrounding a natural harbour is Ilfracombe with its Victorian architecture, Esplanade and famous Tunnels Beach. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats sailing in and out.
Appledore itself is a small fishing village that sits at the estuary of the Taw and Torridge river. It has attractive walks along the quay and towards Bideford or Westward Ho! using the footpaths. The quay is actively used by boat owners.
Hidden within its quaint cobbled streets there are a number of interesting art galleries. Appledore is such a busy village it even has its own festivals throughout the year - Visual Arts Festival in May, Regatta Week and Carnival in August and the acclaimed Appledore Book Festival in September.
The village is about 3 miles from Bideford & 10 miles from Barnstaple. There are many attractive areas in the surrounding countryside: Clovelly; the famous picturesque fishing village is 10 miles away. Lundy Island can be visited by ferry from Bideford. Exmoor is only a short drive away. The Eden Project in Cornwall can be visited in a day.
Blue-flag beaches - Croyde, Putsborough, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands are all within easy driving distance, while Westward Ho! Beach is a mere 2 miles away with its championship links golf course, tennis courts and cliff top walks. Other options, if you wanted to venture further afield and experience what the area has to offer include trips to RHS Rosemoor, Tapeley Park, Instow, The Big Sheep, Dartington Crystal, Bucks Mills, The Milky Way Adventure Park to name a few.

"Great Stay at Apple Tree Cottage"
We stayed for a week recently at this lovely cottage in Appledore. The cottage itself was perfect for the two of us and our dog. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and was everything we could have hoped for. The welcome arrival of a cream tea and a bottle of wine went down a treat! The owners Paula and Noel are really helpful and friendly. Appledore is such a wonderful, cheery place to visit and very dog friendly. We are looking forward to visiting again soon.
