Description

Tigh Ruaraidh is a spacious four bedroomed house equipped to an exceptionally high standard with a high end VisitScotland 4* rating. It is situated in the small township of Lonbain (only 4 houses), 7 miles north of Applecross village.

It is the perfect place to relax and unwind from the hurly-burly of modern life.

Tigh Ruaraidh suits couples looking for that romantic haven but is equally perfect for families or groups of friends.

The garden is fenced and is therefore completely safe for children to play in.

There are several sandy beaches close by - the nearest being Sand which was featured in the Monty Halls' programme a few years ago.
Bird life in abundance and many species are recorded from Wrens to the magnificent White-tailed Eagle.
Otters are frequently seen from the house.

Further details

A deposit of £100 is payable on booking with the balance due a month before the holiday.

Location description from owner

The Ross and Cromarty region

Applecross is reached via the (in)famous Bealach na Ba (The Pass of the Cattle) which rises from sea level to just over 2,000' and back to sea level again over a distance of 12 miles with a series of hairpin bends towards its summit. For the faint hearted there is a coastal road in round the peninsula from Shieldaig.
The magnificent Torridon mountains are within 45 mins of Tigh Ruaraidh. Skye and the pretty village of Plockton are within a day's drive.
The climate is very variable and it is impossible to say which are the best months to visit. During winter, snow is usually present on the tops of the hills, making for some stunning views. May, June, September and October are said to be the most popular months. During a sunny spell, the scenery matches that of the Greek Islands!

Applecross

Lochcarron is a delightful one-time fishing village. There is a nine hole golf course (40 mins. drive from Tigh Ruaraidh) and several good eating places. The gardens at Attadale are well worth a visit and rival Inverewe, the famous N.T.S garden at Poolewe. The attraction of Attadale is that it is nearer, cheaper and much less crowded - high on our list of 'must visits' for garden lovers.
Applecross itself boasts two excellent places to eat. The Applecross Inn is world renowned for its food and fresh shellfish, having won several prestigious awards. The Walled Garden, a delightful restored Victorian Garden, has the converted Potting Shed as a cafe/ restaurant and serves good food using their own produce and local fish and meat. The Flower Tunnel at the campsite serves snacks through out the day.
Further afield, is Tigh an Eilean at Shieldaig and The Torridon - both for a more' formal' dining experience.
