“So many things could improve the property specially at the cost of 137.50 per night”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2017

The area around Anstruther is beautiful with lots to see and do, however the property was not up to our standard.

Owner's reply: I understand the main issue raised was the guests did not appreciate that the heating control was control via mobile remote control (as opposed to a control fixed to a wall), however, once our house keeper was contacted (and attended within 20 mins) this issue was quickly resolved. We will include the location of the heating monitor in the joining instructions in future. Christine, our house keeper I understand enquired if there was anything further that she could do in order to ensure their stay was comfortable, including offering to set a log fire for them whilst they awaiting the heating coming on which was refused, as did I by email however, no further requests or reply were fore coming. To be truthful I am at a loss to know what he could possibly be referring to as "so many things" and only wish that he saw fit to communicate these "things" to either myself or Christine, either at the time or since, as we appreciate holidays are meant to be special times and we genuinely would have wish to assist him where we could. In future if any elderly guests wish someone present on arriving this can be accommodated if requested, and we would like to state that on cold days were guests are due to arrive, Christine attends in order to put the heating on prior to their arrival however due to the climate on the day in question Christine not foresee any need to do so. In respect of the cost of his stay the fact that they were a party of two people staying in a six bed house was the main factor which made it expensive on a per head basis and not the underlying cost of the property. “Beautiful Cottage!”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2017

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage with stunning views. The location is just perfect right across from the harbour. The cottage itself was extremely well equipped for all of our needs and there has been so much attention to detail gone into the interior and decoration. We loved the idea that there was no TV in the living room (one in each bedroom) which meant we all played games, read and had much more fun together. We can watch tv whenever we like at home. The huge bonus was the beautiful view from the top garden with the summer house. Thank you so much for a very special stay in the perfect holiday cottage.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review. I had been considering putting a to in the living area but like you feel it's too easy then to switch on and miss the quality time we all crave on holiday. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope we can welcome you back in the near future.

“Lovely stay”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2015

Stayed at this lovely cottage with my hubby and our teenage daughter. On arrival, the place looks quaint and 'cottagey' from the outside - not that there is anything wrong with that anyway, but when you get inside the place; it's like the tardis. The owner had left us a welcome pack of some red wine, a box of biscuits and a cute toy for our small dog which was a nice touch and made you feel special. The living area is all downstairs, a lounge/diner and kitchen with all the mod cons including wi-fi, microwave, cooker, hob, wine cooler etc not to mention the rustic log burner. The living area doesn't have a TV but we felt this was a good thing as we sat at the table, enjoyed a few drinks and made do with the selection of board games on offer. Upstairs there is 1 twin room, a double room (both with TV) and a bathroom with very good power double shower. On the top floor there is an in-attic space master suite with bath and wc. Outside the cottage really comes to life with multiple layered garden with seating areas and a summer house on the top level with stunning views out over the sea. Absolutely breathtaking! I'd recommend you turn left on exit, go through the caravan site and take the 1hr 10min coastal walkway to Crail. We saw a red kite, some voles, herons and a multitude of other sea birds. It is a good 10 minute walk into the centre of Anstruther (by turning right on exit) where you can enjoy ice cream and the world famous fish and chip shop. There is also a lovely little pub/restaurant called The Haven 2 minutes from the cottage which we dined in and the food and service are excellent.

“Lovely cottage.”

Pebbles Cottage is a lovely place to stay. Great facilities, nice location (quiet) and close to harbour. Catherine was very helpful before and during our stay.
