Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Villa Stella di Mare sits in the heart of the Maremma, the large part of southern Tuscany characterised by beautiful beaches and a more wild and natural coastline. The region if famous for it's food and wonderful restaurants are to be found everywhere, around Ansedonia and along the coast, and in the charming Tuscan towns and villages to be discovered in the interior. The food is local and seasonal and famous regional wines such as Morellino and Pitigliano accompany it perfectly. Artisan extra virgin olive oil and cheeses will find there way home with most visitors.

The beaches in this area are said to be some of the most beautiful in Italy and beyond our own La Feniglia, there is Cala Violina and Cala Picolla. Nearby Talamone has lovely beaches and snorkelling as well as sailing, kitesurfing and windsurfing.

A little further is the hilltop town of Capalbio, famous for its medieval architecture with winding narrow streets marked by high stone walls, and as an artistic hub with lots of opportunities for finding unique art and craft works. It is also packed full of great restaurants.

The renowned Terme di Saturnia spa is 60km away with mineral rich pools and natural waterfalls, for a thoroughly indulgent relaxation.

Ansedonia

The charming marina towns of Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano are very near situated on the slopes of Monte Argentario, as is the town of Orbotello with its beautiful lagoon. These are tourist hubs full of great shops and cafes and are lovely places to spend time.

Tours out to beautiful islands of Giannutri and Giglio are very enjoyable and a fun day trip. They depart from Porto Santo Stefano.

For archeological treasures, the remains of the ancient Roman city of Cosa are well preserved and can be found just a few metres away from the villa.
