Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

ALTIBERINA VALLEY - TUSCANY: Tuscany is possibly the greatest repository of art in the world, from the Etruscans to the Romans to the Renaissance, from extraordinary paintings and sculpture to frescoes and architectural masterpieces.
Visitors to Tuscany come in search of fine art, others to explore the extraordinary countryside. Gourmets and wine buffs descend on Tuscany to enjoy the simple yet wonderful cuisine and wine. Walkers enjoy the mountain paths, cyclists the rolling hills, summer vacationers the sea coast and islands. Students come to learn the beautiful Italian language, the culture, the food

There is a lot to see and do in Tuscany, the difficulty is really where to start. Certainly most should start with Florence, then continue on to Siena, Arezzo, Cortona, San Gimignano and Lucca . Tuscany offers also many natural wonders. These range from the centuries old forests on the Appennins Mountains, to the wonderful seacoast, to its small offshore islands. This itinerary offers travel to some of the most interesting natural spots in Tuscany, to the Golene of the river Tiber, to the old erosions of the Balze.

Anghiari

Sansepolcro is one of the wealthiest cities in Tuscany. Is one of the wealthiest cities in Tusca ny. Located in southeastern Tuscany, it sits in the hill in the Val Tiberina, near Anghiari and Citerna: two villages most 'beautiful in Italy.

Sansepolcro has much to offer although it generally is not included in the main itineraries of Tuscany.
You'll find less visitors and many more locals, as well as the many treasures in the towns and castles that played an important role in the history of Tuscany. Visit Cortona, Anghiari, Monterchi and Citerna (if you love Piero della Francesca) and the beautiful Fortezza Medicea, the the castles of Montauto and San Giustino- these are just some of the most beautiful artworks in the Sansepolcro Area that wait to be discovered on your Tuscan trip.

The way of St. Francis: What, then, is Saint Francis' Way? Conceived as an itinerary linking together a series of sites associated with the life and teachings of Assisi's saint, this “new” pilgrim route reintroduces the Franciscan experience in the context of the very land Francis walked in his travels. Indeed, it is from this intimate bond with Francis' life story that the Way derives its credibility and appeal: passing through landscapes where pilgrims can view the same natural beauty which so moved Francis' simple heart; stopping at sites which conserve the memory of his words and example; meeting the people along the route so closely tied to his spirit.
This route's point of departure, the sanctuary of La Verna, is located at the southern border of the Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi (Casentino Forest National Park), one of the largest and most diversified forested areas in Europe. The itinerary continues on through the Alta Valle del Tevere (Upper Tiber River Valley),Sansepolcro an area rich with history thanks to the ancient Via Romea which passes here and left its mark on the land under its dominion; the concentraton of monuments and artistic masterpieces in the Valle del Tevere has earned it the name “Valley Museum”.
