The recently completed, private swimming provides guests with a wonderful place to cool off after day trips to the many nearby attractions such as Florence, Assisi and Siena.Casa Mimosa is a stone farmhouse on the edge of the hamlet La Palaia. The country kitchen is at the centre of the ground floor and has plenty of workspace for enthusiastic cooks. There is a dishwasher, fridge-freezer plus an extra fridge for drinks. From the kitchen there is an archway leading to the dining room which has a dining table for 6 people, a comfy sofa and a large bookshelf with a wide selection of books. From here there is another opening leading to the living room. This has a beautiful open fireplace, a sofa and 2 armchairs. When restructuring, the owners wanted to make the most of the stunning surrounding scenery and so both the dining room and living room have sets of French doors that provide truly breath-taking views. Further along the hallway, there is a bathroom and a spacious double bedroom with French doors and views of the land. A hand built wooden staircase leads to the first floor of the home. Straight a head on the landing is a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom. This bedroom has doors leading to a private terrace, a perfect place to read and have breakfast. To the right of the landing, there is the third spacious bedroom also with an en suite bathroom. This bedroom has French doors with a Juliette balcony. A landscaped garden surrounds the property with maturing fruit trees and locally sourced plants and shrubs. Leading out of the doors from the dining room, there is a rustic pagoda and outdoor eating area that comfortable seats 6. This has views of the meadows and hills beyond the property and overlooks the swimming pool. The recently completed swimming pool is a stunning feature in the garden. It has built in steps leading into the pool and is a great size for swimming and floating around on a lilo. Poolside, there is a patio area with 6 sunbeds all with head shades. For larger groups who wish to rent the Mimosa guest house in addition to the main house, this is located next door. The guest house has its own private entrance, parking and out door dining area. On the ground floor of there is a cosy lounge area and a dining table this leads to the kitchen which is well equipped and includes a coffee machine and dishwasher. On the ground floor there is a bathroom and a large, double bedroom with French doors opening on to the garden. Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Tuscany is known for its beautiful landscapes, its rich artistic legacy and vast influence on high culture. Tuscany is widely regarded as the true birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, and has been home to some of the most influential people in history, such as Petrarch, Dante, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Galileo Galilei, Amerigo Vespucci and Puccini. Due to this, the region has several museums, most of which (such as the Uffizi and the Pitti Palace) are found in Florence, but others in towns and smaller villages. Tuscany has a unique culinary tradition, and is famous for its wines (most famous of which are Chianti, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino). The summers in Tuscany are hot, usually without much rain. Spring (April and May) and Autumn (October and November) are dry, sunny days but the chances of rain are higher. The Winter has sunny, mild days and it can get very cold at night particularly in the hilly areas. As expected July is the hottest month with temperatures ranging from 23°C up to 30°C; January is the coldest month with about 7°C at the coast and about 3.5°C to 5.5°C inland. The busiest time in Tuscany (and Italy generally) is August when the Italians are on holiday. The main tourist season stretches from mid-April to the end of September.

Anghiari

Anghiari is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The town has preserved its medieval roots beautifully and hosts many local festivals throughout the year celebrating its heritage and the local culture and cuisine. There are several pizza restaurants here including an outdoor one with a children's play area as well as some superb traditional Tuscan restaurants.

Sansepolcro is a few kilometers away and is famed for being home to the painting of the Resurrection by Peiro della Francesca which can be seen at the Museo Civico along with several other important pieces of art. For those with children to entertain, there is a large swimming pool in the town with water slides and diving boards as well as shaded picnic areas and a children's play area.

Arezzo is a 30 minute drive from the house. It has a main train station with lines to Florence and Rome. It is a beautiful town that hosts a jousting contest every year that draws crowds from all over Tuscany and beyond. On the first weekend of every month there is an antiques fair that fills every street of the old part of the town.

Other beautiful places to visit that are easily reached for a day trip include; Siena, Assisi, Cortona, Florence. From our office in Anghiari we are happy to organize wine tasting and depending on the time of year, olive picking to produce your own oil to take home.
