Description

This beautifully furnished second floor apartment comprises an open-plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable sitting area opening out onto a lovely east-facing balcony with a square table and four chairs. This is great in the morning for its energising sun and wonderful in the evening for drinks in the shade. A door from the main living area takes you to two bedrooms and a bathroom. One bedroom has a king sized bed and en-suite bathroom, and the other is twin-bedded; both have plenty of space in fitted wardrobes. There is undercroft parking and a store room where you can find the sunbeds. If you are here for a cycling holiday, bikes may be stored here safely. The sleepy village of Anafotia does not have all the trappings of tourism and the bus service to Larnaca is minimal. It is strongly advisable that you hire a car, though guests have stayed here quite happily without one, content to loll around the pool and avail themselves of the local taxis to take

A car gives you the freedom to get here from the airport in 15 minutes, and the village is well-placed for trips out to places of interest West, North or East - most in less than an hour. At home, Anafotia has the wonderful Cafe Aman where our friends Stavroula and Andreas offer a very warm welcome, and - honestly - their food is quite the best in the whole area.
This is the holiday for those seeking peace and quiet.
Additional benefits include air conditioning, satellite TV and DVD player, a growing number of DVDs and books.

The Larnaka District

Larnaca is the nearest town being only 20 minutes by car. There you will find plenty of shopping opportunities in the many streets and passage ways. There are also large supermarkets such as Carrefour if you need them. Larnaca also has many places of interest to see. Along the treelined promenade there is a host of good places to eat as well as a good blue flag status beach with sunbeds, parasols and watersports. There is a Marina at one end of the promenade and the Fort at the other. There are also two museums, the church of St. Lazarus and various ancient sites across the town. If you take the coast road to Larnaca, you will pass the Salt Lakes which are home to migrating Flamingos during the winter months.

Larnaca has something for everyone - beautiful beaches, including the famous Phinikoudes Beach, a marina, delightful promenades lined with palm trees and an array of cafes, bars and restaurants over looking the sparkling Mediterranean sea.

There is also a good range of shops both Cypriot and British (Marks & Spencer, Debenhams) as well as an excellent choice of traditional and international restaurants.

The excellent road connections put Larnaca within easy reach of other resorts including Ayia Napa, Protaras and Limassol.

Larnaca is a thriving port with a cosmopolitan atmosphere. It is a significant tourist and commercial area. It is a convenient base for exploring the island. Pedestrianised sea front is lined with plenty of Cypriot cafes, bars and restaurants to suit all ages. At the northern end of the promenade there is a large marina where regular boat trips can be booked. Larnaca has a long history and there are many places of interest to see and explore. Ayia Napa is a 30 min drive to the east and is renowned for its night life. It also has a water park highly suitable for families. To the north a 30 min drive will take you to Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.

Anafotida

St Christopher's Gardens is located in the traditional Cyprus village of Anafotia. Situated in the Larnaca district, less than 20 minutes drive from the town of Larnaca, it is a charming little village with a long and esteemed history. Anafotia is built on hills surrounded by green areas presenting to the village a picturesque look. Just 2km away

“A very relaxing stay”

Reviewed 17 Sep 2012

We arrived in Larnaca in the 34 degree heat (it had been 40 degrees a week or so before). We had a lovely relaxing time at St Christopher's Gardens and really enjoyed our stay. The apartment is well appointed with everything you need and quite well maintained. The DVDs were a great alternative in the evenings to Fox Movies(!) and I think we must have watched most of them, that's if I wasn't already asleep by 10pm!! Anafotia is a very quiet place (probably a little too quiet for our nine year-old) but it was just what we needed and the pool was always something else to look forward to after a long drive discovering the local attractions. We managed to get out every day to visit all the local places of interest and travelled as far as Episkopi (Kourion Archaeological sites) and Cape Greko. We found small beaches locally, explored Mazatos and the Camel Park and we snorkelled at Cape Greko and loved it, though it was a little scary trying to get back onto the rocks as there was no beach there to be found! There are lots of supermarkets around for the self-catering as eating out is expensive. A hired car therefore is an absolute must as the buses are few and far between from the village and sometimes the driver decides to leave early!! I have to mention Stavarouni Monastery - a must-see. The view is amazing from the top. We also found a great Fish and Chip restaurant on the beach of the Sovereign Base at Dekhelia. Its an open-sided restaurant right on the beach, so very cool and Cape Greko is an amazing place to see and swim. We ate at the local taverna a couple of times for 40-50 Euros and it was quite reasonable for three of us, though we didn't want the full Meze as it was too much!! Our time spent in Anafotia was most enjoyable, we made friends in the village with Stavroula and Andreas at Cafe Aman and some of the other local residents too. What lovely people. The Cypriots are all very genuine people and love children too.

“Great Apartment”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

Top end apartment with WiFi internet which is hard to find in this location. I have stayed in the same apartment about 4 times this year and I would highly recommended it.. The apartment block itself is very quiet which was ideal for us. There is a small communal pool which I never saw anyone use apart from us. A family friendly beach a short drive away.

“Amazing holiday destination, perfect for all age groups, great weather and crystal clear sea”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2011

The St Christopher’s Gardens apartment is very well furnished, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything you need. It’s also under 30 minutes drive from Larnaca airport. Your car is always cool thanks to a shaded parking bay and there is also a fantastic pool with shaded and sunny areas. The local town is a 5 minute walk away and has an awesome restaurant where no matter how much we ate or drank, the bill never came to more than €20 per head. The food was also amazing! There is a great Supermarket a short drive away. The best nearby beach was Governors Beach. The water was crystal clear and had fine sand (rather than stones). It had brilliant white cliffs and lots of caves to explore. We also visited the fantastic Nissi beach in Ayia Napa and the mythical Aphrodite’s rock. However these were a fairly long drive away. We visited the Fasouri water park in Limassol, which, according to the locals, is the best water park on the island. It was about a 40-minute drive but was well worth the journey. It had entertainment for very young children as well as the slightly older 25-year-old children. Like me. On the way home we stopped at a very nice beach restaurant on the main beach in Limassol. It was very cheap and we were sat on a table on the beach about 6 feet from the sea. We also drove up the mountains to Troodos. The scenery and the drive up the winding roads were fantastic. The area seemed to be very popular with cyclists and the apartment had a downstairs storage cupboard, which could be used to store about 5 bikes. The holiday was fantastic. Thank-You Mrs Knapp for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment in a beautiful area. Tom Wilkinson

“Lovely apartment in a superb location”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2011

Had a fantastic week's break in this very well furnished, comfortable flat. We really enjoyed the tranquility of the complex, situated just outside the charming village of Anafotida. The local people were extremely hospitable and the traditional meze of the taverna in the village was great! The complex is very well maintained and the amenities met our needs perfectly. We particularly appreciated the glorious sunsets over the rural surroundings. The complex was very easy to reach from Larnaca airport but did not suffer from aircraft noise. It was lovely to enjoy the day at a gentle pace of life, either by the pool, or at the closest beach which was within easy reach by road. It is certainly advisable to hire a car as the complex is quite 'off the beaten-track' of the typical tourist. Cyprus has a huge amount to offer and the apartment's location, close to a major motorway, means that enjoying the rest of the country is also easy. The apartment is an ideal place to stay for a quiet, relaxing holiday in delightful Cypriot countryside.
