“Mixed experience”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2018

We have stayed in numerous cottages throughout Wales over last 5 years. Decided to explore an area we had not been to before. Hopefully this information will help others considering staying here. Positives: A very cute homely cottage with evidence that the owner has gradually made improvements over time. Great location and lots of places to explore. Very useful information folders provided. Staying on our own so perfect base and our girls 'woof', enjoyed the beach. Negatives: we had considered bringing adult and child family members. This would not have been an ideal cottage for more than two adults as there is a lack of privacy upstairs with needing to go through one bedroom to another. Especially at night. Children would be fine if they sleep sound. There are no gates on side of property so not safe for young children or dogs. We could not let our doggies roam free as they have no road sense. Not suitable for wheelchairs or anyone with poor mobility. Parking ideal next to property but if you have a long car or van (we have a caravelle), it may over hang. Ours 'just' fitted. Generally clean. Cooker seen better days but kitchen has potential if it was updated to make it feel cleaner. The kitchen table was sticky and not very hygienic. Would be more practical if not there. A larger table in living area would be better (lots of unused space one end) to allow room in kitchen for a full size fridge freezer and a worktop/food preparation area. Getting older now so getting on my knees to access shelves in fridge was not ideal. Lots of heaters and fans around that gave a cluttered feel. This was the first cottage we have stayed where we did not get greated on arrival, no guest book (always like to be nosy to see who has stayed before), no welsh cakes or tea this time Paid less for all other stays so cannot say it was a bargain but not expensive for the fab location. Thanks for our stay.

We are very keen to ensure that all of our guests have a great time and take all comments very seriously. Your comments are clear and specific which is helpful. The new gates are on order and regret there has been a delay on this. Will certainly examine each of your points and try to overcome the issues given it is a very old property. The location is stunning and sorry that on this occasion the property did not meet your expectations. As for a welcome the local host is always available but does not like to intrude which some guests prefer but we are always happy to help and appreciate your feedback.
