“Relaxing retreat”

Excellent location for exploring the Western Algarve. (although car a must) 25mins walk to harbour and lots of choices of restaurants. Modern well kept apartment and grounds offering all home comforts. Poolside relaxation recommended.

“Very suitable for family with young children”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

I stayed in apartment 201 lot 9 in July 2013 with my husband and children aged 3 and 1 years old. The apartment was beautifully presented, comfortable and provided lots of extra touches to provide us with a very enjoyable holiday. I couldn't rate the apartment highly enough. It was totally child friendly with everything we would use at home available ( booster seat, cot, toilet seat and step). We were also able to use the cool box, freezer packs, beach chairs and umbrella which was so convenient. The complex is lovely with a large pool and separate children's pool. The children's pool is very safe. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is that unfortunately the staff were unnecessarily strict around the swimming pools. On one occasion I was actually told it was inappropriate to sit at the edge of the children's pool whilst supervising my 3 year old daughter which is totally crazy. As a parent I personally do want to play with my children and supervise them closely whilst in the pool. There was a further occasion when my husband was also told it was inappropriate for him to be in the pool playing with our daughter. These were the only 2 occasions we had any problems out of 10 days of great fun days at the pool. I have discussed this issue with the apartment owner and she was very shocked to hear this. I do hope the committee who make the rules can take a sensible approach and not spoil this resort for families because it is otherwise a perfect resort for those with young families and in a lovely area of Portugal.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review glad the extra bits in the apartment were put to good use. The pool problem has now been sorted out. It is the first time we have had a problem in 6 years! This was a one off incident involving a new owner. I am so sorry if was an upsetting situation for you. The management have now dealt with this. Parents are of course able to go in any pool with their children at any time. Thank you for bringing it to our attention so we could deal with it promptly. Hope to see you again soon. many thanks Linda

“Great apartment”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2013

Stayed in this apartment for 9 nights in June with my husband, father, 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter. Spotlessly clean and as described in ad. Linda was very pleasant to deal with and collection of keys was made very easy. Plenty of local information in the apartment, we know Alvor quite well but this info is great for newcomers. We tend to eat out on holidays (isn't that part of the fun!) but Apartment was well equipped with everything needed to prepare dinner or breakfast. Pool was a 2 min stroll across the car park, we never had trouble getting sun beds morning or afternoon. Pool is very deep in parts but there is a separate kids pool. There are rules about no floats in the pool but given this a private complex that is understandable. Very quiet apartment with every mod con, would recommend and would be happy to stay here again.

“Fabulous apartment, well presented and good location”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2013

We came here in June for 12 nights, a family of four, mum, dad (me) and our 3 year old twin boys. The apartment is very well presented and furnished, lots of familiar items and very much our cup of tea. It has all the mod cons, kettle, toaster, oven, hob, microwave and fridge freezer although a smidge on the small side for a family our size but nothing a few extra trips to the supermarket didn't solve. There are two bedrooms, each with their own air con unit and another in the lounge which are very effective in the 30 degree heat we had! The master bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite with a bath/shower combi. The shower is quite powerful and heats up in no time, anytime of the day or night. The second bedroom has two single beds and a pinkish theme but our boys didn't really notice. I think that these two beds were by far the comfiest! This room also had a sliding door onto the balcony. The property also has an additional toilet with shower which our boys seemed to commandeer. There were plenty of extra items left out, child's toilet seat, lots of loo roll and generally very well equipped. The lounge is equipped to sit plenty of bodies, a TV with free view sky in both the master bedroom and lounge was a welcome bonus. There is also a DVD and PS2 but we never used them (too much else to do!). There is also a washing machine on the balcony and a dishwasher which were both a great help. The apartment looks out onto a road which isn't busy, it looks onto a farm of sorts which you can hear a cockerel every now and then but not if all the doors and windows are shut. We suffered no noise problems at all other than a neighbours dogs that barked and whined all evening on one occasion. There's plenty parking close to the entrance and the pool is about 5 minutes walk into a locked complex. The pool is split in two by a central round bar, there is a deeper pool and a shallow pool that accommodates plenty of kids. There are many sun beds but we just laid on the plentiful grass. The beds were always occupied by the same people and they were always in the bar so the rule about no reservations obviously goes unchallenged. That was a little annoying but we didn't get much time sunbathing (3 year old twins, remember!). There is also a small children's play area with slide and monkey bars and a small soccer setup with two miniature nets. The local Portuguese boys play some hard soccer on there so keep an eye on your little ones as balls were being volleyed aplenty. All in all, a great apartment. Good amenities, good position as a walk into Alvor takes but 10 minutes. Portimao is 10 mins in the car the other way which is where the bigger supermarket is (Continente). A smaller Ali is on the way into Alvor but is a little pricey and they know it! Nice fresh bread though, irresistible. I would highly recommend this property to stay in, it's perfect for a family of any size as there are extra beds and pop out sofas every where! It's on the second floor but with two quick lifts. If you have smaller kids, like ours, you may want to just perform a safety check on the knife draw as we had to tie a carrier bag on the two draws to stop little fingers. The fridge is on the small size, we managed to fill it with 12 bottles of beers, 6 cans, 2 milks, cheese, butter, jam and a bit of salad. The freezer had 5 ice creams and a bag of ice. Not the biggest so plan meals wisely if you eat in a bit. Sadly no barbecue in this so I couldn't carry on my tradition of 2nd night BBQ!

Home from home. Very comfortable. Lovely area. 2 fantastic restaurants across the road. Pool area is outstanding, but the pool bar closed down and equipment removed during the second week of our holiday

“Great family holiday”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2012

Stayed in this property two years in a row. We travelled with 2 young childern and found it ticked all the right boxes. The apartment is very spacious and tastefully decorated. It is well equipped including duvets which makes it feel like a home away from home. The owner Linda Procter was very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. The pool and surounding area is well maintained and the pool bar/restaurant is great. Unfortunately it is not available next year for the dates we want but hopefully we will return.

A home away from home is the best way i could describe this apartment. We had a wonderful 10 day stay. The apartment is so well equipped for a family of 5 and the decor is top class. The pool and surrounding gardens are beautiful and spacious. Alvor is a beautiful place with plenty of good places to eat. Must definitely return in the near future.

“Excellent location, well equipped, high spec accomodation”

We had a lovely stay in Alvor, the apartment was close to some excellent restaurants & bars. We also ate in the apartment on a few occassions, everything we needed was there. Has good size pool and we enjoyed relaxing in the gardens around the pool, also visited sandy beach just a short distance away. Overall a perfect location and apartment to do as much or as little as you want
