The Algarve region

Situated on the southern coast of Portugal and noted as a region of outstanding beauty. The landscape and climate, which is mild all year round, resembles that of North Africa and averages 3000 hours of sunshine per year (more than any other European destinaton).
The coastline in the western region has dramatic sandstone cliffs which overlook extensive sandy beaches dotted with picturesque fishing villages and washed by the crystal clear tidal waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Inland areas remain largely undeveloped and the white washed villages with ornamental chimmneys are surrounded in garden like vegatation. The Portuguese people are noted for their friendly nature.

Alvor

Alvor remains as a picturesque working fishing village with many restaurants to cater for all tastes. Superb quality fish is widely available, at sensible prices, most of which is barbecued outside. The nearby working town of Portimao offers many shops and an experience of everyday life in Portugal whilst the coastal resort of Pria da Rocha has night life. The famous historical walled town of Lagos is less than a 30 minute drive away.
Alvor is particularly well placed on the Western Algave in a region having the most extensive uncrowded and beautiful beaches and is much less developed than the central area around Albufreira. All water based activities are readily available and there are many Golf Courses close by.
