Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Located on the north of the Bodrum Peninsula, overlooks the beautiful Altinkum Bay with the pine trees and crystal clear blue waters gently lapping our sandy beach, and provides access to different bays with 360 degrees of breathtaking scenery. The apartment is located 100 meters to the beach and on city centre.

In the area are a host of historical sites. Ephesus, Priene, Didyma, Miletus and House of the Virgin Mary, all
of which can be visited with ease from the flat ~ your natural choice for that 'special' holiday

Altinkum

Altinkum and it's environs Many people, upon first hearing the name "Didim" referring to the place in which they are staying are quite confused. They are not even aware that Altinkum is, in fact, a part of Didim... as are Yesilkent, Mavisehir, Yenihisar and Akbuk. There are over 30 beaches in and around Didim, most of which are completely unknown to both tourists and residents alike. Many of them are little more than private, secluded bays, but they are there all the same.

Bodrum airport is just over an hour away and Izmir about an hour and a half. Typically a transfer from Bodrum will cost a family of four £40. Many cafes and restaurants will pick up and return their customers.
1 mile to Temple of Apollo 6 miles to a new water park.

There is a huge market in Didim each Saturday which will take you at least 3 visits to completely see. The local shops and restaurants offer great service and fantastic value. There are 3 good sized supermarkets nearby.
English is readily understood everywhere.

There are hundreds of hotels in Didim, offering a wide range of standards from the 1-star guest house type pensions, across the board to 5-stars. Two of these are in Akbuk, another is nearing completion near to "3rd Beach" and a fourth hotel has 5-star facilities. There are many extremely good quality 3-star hotels around too. As with the hotels, there are also restaurants to be found everywhere, by the dozen. A large number of these are located on the seafront promenade and generally cater to British tastes, with even the Turkish dishes on the menus being prepared with this in mind. There are now several Chinese restauarants, a traditional Fish and Chippy, and a Balti House Indian. Most of the restaurants offer full English breakfast, for this is still extremely poplular with the tourists. For fish lovers, Didim offers several good fish restaurants, such as the "Acik" and "Kamaci", located opposite the Apollo Temple, "Kamaci 2", down by tyhe harbour, and going a bit further afield, at Tasburun, which is after the Aquapark, one can find small fish restaurants offering very fresh produce. For traditional Turkish cuisine, "Sehir Lokantasi" in Yenihisar is still the most popular, with locals and foreigners, offering a huge selection of Turkish dishes.

The night life in Didim is varied with something for everyone. There are bars where one can sit and relax and have a chat, with background music, before going on to others that offer bingo, quizzes, game shows and karaoke. For the night owls, there are the dance bars, such as "Galaxy", "Garden Bar", "Seal Bar" and "Rooftop", which stay open until 3am. Then for the dawn breakers, the nightclubs such as "Garden Bar", the open air "Medusa"

“Fabulous stay -well worth the money”

Reviewed 2 May 2013

After staying in the Royal Apartments in April I can definately say I will be returning. It was an easy process getting the keys and also flexible with return and suiting our needs for the airport. Prime location which makes it easier to get around to bars, restaurants and the beaches. The apartment was packed with all the essentials in which we required throughout our stay and is advertised on Holiday Lettings accurately. We were out of season so cannot comment on the use of the pool however i will be returning to the same property in July to make this judgement. A fabulous stay overall

“Great Stay Can't Fault It”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2013

A fabulous stay in the Royal Apartments, very spacious with all you need at your fingertips. The apartment is located in the centre of Altinkum close to all the Restaurants, shops and only a short walk to the local beach. Will definitely be booking up to come back later in the year. All staff were extremely helpful.

“These apartments were not as nice as led to be believe”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2012

We arrived at the Royal apartments at 1.30 in the morning, there was no toilet paper so we had to go shopping immediately. The overall apartments were spacious and clean however as advertised we did not have a microwave and no DVD player there were also no cereal bowls and glasses. we asked for a DVD player as was told one would arrive the following day, we never had one the whole 2 weeks. Sun beds were not available as advertised and unless you woke early and put towels on beds to reserve them, none were available at all, very frustrating as many beds were not used for most of the day. Also if you have a late flight home as we did and want to stay in your apartment after 11.00am then you have to pay an additional £40.

“Apartment we were given was not the one advertised”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2012

Paid £550 for 11 nights for the above apartment advertised through holiday lettings and tripadvisor. When we arrived we were given apartment number 24 a total different apartment to the one that is advertised on holiday lettings. It was a total let down, apart from a great location the apartment was very basic and certainly NOT luxury as described there was no pool view we overlooked the street, we were told the pool was used by a max of 12 people per day, 10 out of 12 days there was no sunloungers available for us to use as they were all taken by 35+ people around the pool everyday. The facilities in the apartment were very poor 3 cups for 5 people, no sharp knives to cut even a loaf of bread, no utensils despite it being a self catering accomodation with kitchen described as a "luxury apartment". Bath and shower were a nightmare they leaked all over every time it was used and couldnt have a shower as there was no shower curtain up! Sockets weren't working had to get the man to fix them, there was no toaster or hairdryer as described had to constantly ask for things in the office. We arrived at 11pm and there wasnt enough bed linen or pillows so myself and baby had to sleep on sofabed without anything for the 1st night. When we did get some bed linen it was ripped in half hanging together by a thread!! The patio doors were broke and part of it was lying ontop of the kitchen cupboards! The dining table consisted of a plastic table and chairs that you would use outside and one of the chairs was all cracked and broken and my baby cut all his legs on it! We were told we would get moved to a better lower floor apartment after 4 days as the complex was fully booked but this never materialised. Very disappointed as we chose this apartment because we had a baby and a very elderly lady with us. We were put on top floor and had to carry a wheelchair and pushchair up and down every day as the lift didnt go to our floor! Location of apartments were great and met some nice people who had their own apartment which we have taken details to rent off them in future, would defo not used this company again as you dont get what you pay for and get something totally different the pictures are of someone elses apartment on the complex!

“Location, Location, Location.”

Reviewed 3 May 2012

The 1st time we went to Altinkum we were about 25min walk away which was too far, then we found these apartments and have been 2009,2010, and 2011. They are so convenient for all the restaurants, bars and the beach but without the noise of being right in the centre. The apts are of a very high standard and very spacious and the best thing was you could always get a sunbed without having to get up at stupid o clock to reserve them. Ahmet the owner is very helpful and will sort out transfers for you, and if he is not there his staff will also sort out any problems. Would highly recommend these apts.

“Great apartment in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2011

I have stayed at the Royal apartments twice now (August 2010 and July 2011) and have just booked to go again next year. The apartments are very spacious, have everything in that you need and in a brilliant location. You are minutes away from the Dolphin shopping centre and a short walk away from the beach with all the restaurantes and shops. Everyone is very friendly and Ahmed and his team are very helpful. Ahmed arranges the transfers from the airport at a very reasonable price and is there to greet you when you arrive. Will recommend this holiday to anyone.

“excellent apartment in perfect location”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2011

My two friends & 1 stayed at this apartment for a week in october 2011. it was perfect. The apartment was in a very convenient location, the dolphin square shopping centre is only a minute away & its also close enough to all the action without having the noise at night time. We loved it so much that we have booked again for 2012, and will continue to stay here for all our visits to altinkum. Ahmet is friendly & will help if anything needs doing. I highly recommend this apartment.
