Description from owner

Description

Do you want a slightly different Spain, one that is within reach of the coast but without the holiday crowds? Do you enjoy visiting natural parks and historic towns? Do you like trying out genuine local - and low-priced! - bars and restaurants? Do you like a relaxing location as a base for interesting trips? If so, 'Limones' is for you!The house is in a relaxing semi-rural location, just 2 km outside Alora (train & bus stations), set in orange groves and with a view of the hills all round. Alora is a white, hilltop town, which has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, and very good transport links: you can go to Malaga with its excellent shops and museums, or the coast, without the hassle of driving and parking. It is also an excellent area for walking, picnicking, cycling, climbing , bird-watching, being close to natural parks such as the gorges of El Chorro (the 'Camino del Rey' path cut into the gorge) and the lakes where you can canoe, swim and cool off in

It is also an excellent area for walking, picnicking, cycling, climbing , bird-watching, being close to natural parks such as the gorges of El Chorro (the 'Camino del Rey' path cut into the gorge) and the lakes where you can canoe, swim and cool off in summer. 'Limones' sleeps two in either a large double or two single beds; there is also a double sofa bed in the living room. "Lines' can be rented alone or with the house next door 'Naranjas' that sleeps four (property no. 476441).

Further details indoors

'Limones' has a large bedroom (can be twin or double bed) and lovely bathroom downstairs, and upstairs a spacious lounge and dining area which leads into the small kitchen and then onto the large terrace. For children or occasional visitors, there is a sofa-bed in the living room. The house is well equipped and has a mixture of air-conditioning and fans, and panel heaters for cooler evenings.

Further details outdoors

The large terrace in 'Lemons' affords a lovely view of the hills and surrounding countryside, and you can also go for walks straight out of the house.

Location description from owner

The Andalucia region

Alora is perched on a hill within a fertile valley (Guadalhorce) and shares the climate of the Costa del Sol (hot in summer, mild in winter, lots of sun, occasional heavy rain). It is surrounded by miles of natural park, and some spectacular landscapes.

Alora

The area is excellent for walking, climbing, bird-watching and generally enjoying the countryside (with various activities being catered for locally, such as cross-country biking, riding etc). Beyond the spectacular gorge of 'El Chorro', you can visit the lakes or the natural park of El Torcal, with its standing stones and wolf-park. In Alora, visit the Arab fortress and eat at the tapas bars in the various charming squares. Visit the historic towns around, such as Antequera, and a little further afield, Cordova and Granada. Do not miss the old town of Malaga, with its Picasso museum, shops and bars. The coast is near enough to enjoy a day at the beach. Alora and Malaga both have significant Easter celebrations, and there are numerous festivals during the year (enquire at tourist Office).
