Vavara is next to Iannis but on a large plot with a very large patio area. At the front of the property there is a wild garden which is shared between the 2 properties and there are lemon and olive trees. The villas are in an ideal situation for the beach and tavernas but not too close so that you have peace and quiet! They have lovely views of the White Mountains. Both villas have barbecues.

Please take care on the patio as this does inevitably become wet by the pool so please do not run and take adequate care. Both pools are approx 3 metres by 6 metres.

The Chania Prefecture region

Villa Vavara is situation in Almyrida which is a lovely small fishing village with approximately 12 tavernas/bars/restaurants. The beach is a gently shelving sandy beach. Plaka is up the road with another 3 or 4 tavernas/bars/restaurants.

Almyrida

The main town of Chania is worth visiting, as is Rethymnon. However, if you wish you have all the amenities at hand and therefore could get away without travelling anywhere. It would be handy to have a car but if you wish to remain at the location itself then you can get a taxi too and from the airport. What makes Almyrida spectacular is the White Mountains mixed with the sea and beautiful landscape. If you want to do a bit more than relax you can cycle, walk or take a trip to Lake Gouda perhaps which is also nearby. Crete is almost an all year round destination because it is the most Southerly and therefore you are hopefully bound to have some good weather at some point whatever time of year!

“Great Villa perfect location and place to unwind”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2016

The villa is pretty, clean, incredibly spacious and has a good size shower in the family bathroom. It is set off the main drag so it is wonderfully peaceful and the private pool and BBQ area is great if you fancy being away from it all. The pool is big enough for a swim and has enough room for inflatables. The villa is well equipped if you are self catering (crockery, utensils, fridge, pots, wifi, TV), has great views of the hills from the back and is beautifuly set amongst trees so is not overlooked. It has a great location being only 5-10 minutes walk from everything you could need: The very lovely beach has cam waters, plenty of sunbeds and although it's not essential, it is handy to have some beach shoes for the stones on the way into the sea. A supermarket (well stocked), A fanastic range of taverans offering delicious fresh seafood, meat and greek specialities A few boutiques, souveneir shops and jewellery stores, Places to rent cars and boats, orgnaise scuba diving and snorkelling trips and a great place offering windsurfing, kyaking etc Overll this is a great place allowing you to both get away from it all and be right next to everything you could need at the same time. Thank you Rachel for such a great holiday!

“Nice Villa...with niggles.”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2016

Nice Villa in excellent location. However lots of annoying niggles. DVD didnt work and despite being told it would be replaced nothing happened until last day...when they replaced the one in the villa next door. Wifi very poor. Toilet tempremental flushing. Shower poor. Door handles fall off. I have read reviews that highlight some of the same problems a year ago! We were even contacted by the owner while we were there to say (incorrectly) we had not paid the balance!

Our agents who look after our villas were informed fairly soon that the DVD player was not working. They were advised there was no rush to fix it or purchase a new one. In the height of the Summer it is difficult to purchase or repair equipment. The day after, our agents brought their own DVD from home but sadly the connection was different. I do appreciate how important a DVD player is and unfortunately we were not able to address immediately. With regards to the toilet, it was repaired the same day. We are trying to sort the handles out but they are a problem unfortunately. With regards to the Internet, the connection can be intermittent. Finally, the email I sent to the holidaymaker stated "I can find an email where you paid the deposit. My business partner is just looking for the information of when you paid the balance". This did not state that the holidaymaker had not paid the balance, it was purely a date I was looking for, in order to place a record. It was a shame that these issues played a part in their nice holiday, but with niggles.

“Just the place to recharge your batteries!”

Just returned from a weeks stay in Villa Vavara and loved every minute. If you're looking for accommodation which is close to all amenities, yet private enough to be tranquil, with a rural feel, then this is recommended for you. Villa Vavara is on the same plot as Villa Iannis, but at no time did we feel uncomfortable by our neighbours. Infact, the tenants arrived the last 2 days of our stay, so we had the place to ourselves for most of our stay. It's short walk to the beach, a host of very good tavernas, shops and 2 well stocked supermarkets. Although we hired a car , it's not necessary , especially if you are looking to do nothing but relax by the pool. It's located close to the national road, making it easy to get to other places of interest . I'd recommend the drive to Elafonisi through the mountains, breathtaking ! The villa is clean and is very well equipped, and although the wifi connection is a little predictable , my teenage son managed to keep in contact with his social media habit! That in itself was a godsend ! A towel change was offered midweek, but as there was only 3 of us in a 3 bed villa, we used the stock that had been provided. The villa is not a high end boutique residence, but a clean, good sized place, that would be suitable for all ages. A good time was had by all

“holiday bliss”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2012

We have just returned from our 3rd holiday at vavara and we still enjoy it as much as the 1st time there. We are a large family group of 7 with ages ranging from 4 yrs to late 50's and it provides wonderful accommodation to suit all. The villa is set in very secluded grounds with it's sister villa, but is only a short walk to the beautiful beaches and tavernas which makes it a very easy walk for young children. There are plenty of activities and trips to do if wished or if you want to do nothing but relax by the pool then vavara is all you need. The local shops have a good choice of food and drinks to stock up on and the people are so friendly and helpful. The agents and the owners are always on hand to deal with any problems that crop up and knowing they are only a phone call (or e-mail ) away is very reassuring. To sum up, I can't wait for next year already.

“Lovely villa but softer pillows please”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

We had a wonderful stay here in September 2011. The villa was very well equipped and had some stunning views from the upstairs balconies. Villa Varvara is situated on the same plot as Villa Iannis and luckily we got on very well with the couple staying there or it may have been a bit awkward. The managing agents looked after us very well, and when a blocked pipe flooded the bathroom and bedrooms, they were very attentive and came to our rescue promptly. Our only complaint would be the hard pillows, after two weeks they were insufferable and we ended up buying our own from the supermarket. It's a small thing and certainly didn't spoil our relaxing holiday. The location of the villa was splendid as it was a 5 minute walk in to Almyridia but was also in a private, tranquil location. Almyridia is very pretty and had a few nice restaurants and a lovely beach. We would return, but maybe stay at Iannis as it had a better layout and the pool area was a bit more private. A fabulous holiday!!

“Comfortable, secluded villa close to beach and tavernas”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2011

Our second stay at Villa Vavara was as enjoyable as the first, its well equipped and close to the lovely village/town of Almyrida which has a reasonable choice of shops and tavernas. The sandy beach is lovely and child friendly with a rocky headland that is good for snorkelling. The Villa is well placed for visiting Chania, Georgiopoulis and the lovely beach at Stavros and only about 35 mins from Chania Airport. The pool is a reasonable size and the shady lemon grove in the grounds really enhances the property and gives a good supply of fresh lemons. Might benefit from english language satellite TV but we weren't there to watch TV.
