Granada, is the capital of the province with cobbled streets lined with shops and restaurants and the famous Alhambra is an absolute must to see. In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Los Alpujarras, a 40 minute drive away, are well worth a visit and also offer good walking routes. You can be skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains (winter months) in the morning and sunbathing on the beaches in the afternoon, a complete contrast.

Nearest main town Almunecar – a 5 minutes drive. From the old fishing village days of Laurie Lee, Almunecar has grown into an attractive town full of true Spanish flavour. The maze of narrow streets hosts a fusion of bars, restaurants and shops, where you can take a break in one of the many squares and enjoy the custom of free tapas served with drinks. .
Nearby is Marina Del Este with a variety of excellent waterside restaurants overlooking the pretty harbour. Nearby there is boat hire, golf, riding, tennis, parascending, sailing and windsurfing, quad bike hire, archery, 4x4 trips, a Kite Surfing School and water skiing.

“We've tried the rest, this one is the best.”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2016

We've just returned from our third visit to this villa, which speaks for itself really, and felt as though we must say a big thank you to Shirley & John for (again) making our stay so trouble free. Stunning location and within walking distance (15 mins) to two great beaches, if fit and able.....however we used the rental car (less than 5 mins) which we think is a must to have if you wish to benefit from seeing the local and neighbouring areas...and there's plenty to see. The new improvements to the property, air conditioning and now a real staircase to replace the previous spiral one has made the villa even more appealing. This is a well fitted out villa and lacks for nothing in facilities albeit, for us, a speedier broadband/wifi would add that little extra icing to this perfect cake. Can't wait for our next visit.

Thank you for your kind review. The new wifi/broadband is being fitted this coming week. Look forward to seeing you again next year.

“Winter get away”

We had a very enjoyable stay from middle Jan to middle of Feb. Fantastic value for money. The villa is very well equiped with everythinng you need. The views from the villa are stunning, we had lovley sunsets most evenings. Its the second time we have stayed over the winter period and would love to come back in the summer.

“Lovely villa, fabulous sea views and a thoroughly relaxing holiday.”

Having had a good look around the Holiday Lettings site at various villas and locations, we settled on Casa Nikou. The villa and outside space looked spacious and of course the infinity pool was an absolute bonus, particularly as it overlooked the Med. We were not disappointed. Upon our arrival. we were warmly greeted by Shirley, who showed us around and made us feel very welcome. The villa was indeed very spacious, with each bedroom having its own bathroom facilities. Our room even had a sitting area and a kitchen which led out onto the pool area and its own little terrace. The villa is on several levels with the two double bedrooms being downstairs. This is a spiral staircase so it possibly wouldn't be ideal for everybody. The kitchen was very well appointed and was very modern and extremely well equipped with everything that one would possibly require. it was a pleasure to be in. The lounge too was well appointed with satellite television and internet access which was a real bonus for our youngest son who had taken his laptop with him. There is a main road down below the villa which is quite busy but this didn't bother us at all and the lovely views out to sea and the coastline more than made up for this. It was lovely to wake up to and a joy to watch the sun going down and the twinkling lights appear along the coast as night fell. We made full use of the outside covered area with the bbq and ate all of our meals there., taking full advantage of the views. The pool was superb, not huge but plenty big enough for the five of us to enjoy, swim in and cool off in. There are a couple of terraces for sunbathing and these were well equipped with loungers and chairs for relaxing on. Shirley and her husband, who looked after the villa and pool were not far away and were on hand if ever they were required and were extremely helpful and obliging, which we found most reassuring. The nearest supermarkets we found were in Salobrena which is a short drive away and there we found everything that we needed. There are restaurants nearby at the beach down below the villa. You can walk down but its slow coming back up as its steep! We chose to take the car down there. Antonio's, which we went to, is right on the beach and very nice indeed. There is a lot of lovely surrounding countryside if you wish to go off and explore and lots of places to visit but if you prefer to just relax around the pool and take in the views then Casa Nikou does not disappoint. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday in a lovey villa in a lovely location and would most certainly consider going back and would most certainly recommend to others.
