“Loved this place!”
Had an amazing time at Casa Blanca when we went for a week’s stay at end of July/start of August 2018. We arrived to find a beautiful villa in the most breathtaking setting with views across the Spanish countryside and wall-to-wall sunshine! Just idyllic! From the start, communication with the owners was excellent. They arranged for us to be met in the local town to be shown to the villa. We were then able to contact Sharon if we had any questions during our stay. This was really reassuring as once at the villa, you do feel in your own bubble world so it was really helpful to know there was someone on hand if needed. The villa was perfect from our perspective. We are a family of four with two young children. Safety around the pool was paramount for us and I was particularly looking for a villa that had a secure pool area with no opportunities for little people to escape! Whilst Roz had confirmed that there was a wall around the pool area, you can imagine our relief at finding the gate down to the pool area also had a child lock on it. The same for the gate to the garden. Small considerations but helped to make our holiday that bit more relaxing. With regards to relaxation, the villa was situated in the quietest spot imaginable. Although there are other villas in the area, it is easy to forget that as we didn’t see or hear anyone throughout our stay. The closest we got to seeing and hearing other life was when a herd of goats was shepherded up the hill nearby! The gentle sound of their bells echoing across the Spanish countryside just added to this idyllic setting. The villa itself was equipped with everything we could have hoped for. A very comfortable home away from home. All in all, we had a wonderful stay that brings smiles to our faces every time we think about our holiday. Goes without saying that we are already thinking about when we can go back!
“Nice villa, shame about the noise! (and Wi-Fi).”
We stayed here the first two weeks of June 2018. The positives. The villa is fairly clean, well equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay. Sharon, the caretaker meets you and shows you how to get there from the local town. The pool is nice, cool (unheated), and the views across the valley and distant hills are excellent. The owner, James was friendly and helpful when we had to complain about noise. A man walks his goats onto the hill behind the villa every few days. You’ll hear them coming from half a mile away because of the bells around their necks. Get your camera ready because they are so cute! The negatives. 1. The photos give an impression that this villa is isolated up in the hills. It isn’t. There are several villas nearby, one literally next door, only separated by a line of trees. 2. During our stay, the noise from these surrounding villas was horrendous and it spoiled our holiday. If you’re expecting peace, quiet and tranquility, FORGET IT! Dogs barked and howled from early in the morning till gone midnight. Motorbikes used the dirt road nearby sounding like they were using it as a race track. There was building work at the neighbouring villa with builders shouting, swearing, singing, smashing tiles and cutting concrete with a metal grinder. Their radio could be heard half a mile across the hill. When the builders went home the villa occupier used his chainsaw to cut back vegetation around his garden while playing heavy metal music at an incredibly loud volume - You could hear it all across the valley! I contacted the owner and local ‘caretaker’ but I was told not to approach him as he was known to be very aggressive! I found it frustrating that the owners know about this problem but don’t tell potential customers! 3. The villa is directly underneath the flight path in and out of Malaga Airport. Great if you enjoy plane spotting, but when they’re passing right over your villa every few minutes it just adds to the noise! 4. The owner advertises that Wi-Fi is available. It’s VERY unreliable. It even says in the arrival book that you will need to reset it sometimes. We needed wi-fi and found it to be virtually useless on both our laptops and phones. We ended up having to buy extra data instead - On a positive, (Movistar) data is very good, 75mbps! Fast! But expensive given that the owner advertises wi-fi. 5. The TV relies on the wi-fi (see above). So it stops working every few minutes and you have to reset the wi-fi and the TV app that uses it. This happened every few minutes, and when you try to reset it you have to watch adverts for game apps before it resets. Very frustrating, not fit for purpose and we gave up after the first couple of days. 6. The only double bed is VERY uncomfortable. We had to use the two single beds after a couple of nights because the double was giving us both back pain. It’s not actually a proper bed. Just two mattresses (with a third underneath) piled on top of each other on the creakiest metal frame you’ve ever seen. The single beds are also really noisy, and the headboards are not attahced, just leant against the wall. 7. The garden area is unkempt. The path down to the pool is very narrow given the plants are overgrowing on to it. You have to be careful not to trip over the plants growing out onto the steps 8. I’ve never seen as many flies and wasps as I have here. I’m talking about THOUSANDS! I was stung on the first day, which just makes you even more edgy when you’re trying to relax in the sun and all you can hear is buzzing around your face. We were fishing a couple of dozen of wasps out of the pool every day. 9. We saw the pool man on day 3 but not again during our 14 day stay. There were no tests on the water, any chemicals added and we had to sweep/clean it ourselves. The filter had a dead mouse and dozens of wasps in it. Not really inviting! On the day the pool man did come, he let his dog lie in the shallow end of the pool! We’ve stayed in villas across the world for many years, but we’ve never wanted to leave as much as we did this time. I appreciate that we might have been unlucky with the building noise, but if the owner knows that neighbouring villas can be noisy, and the owners aggressive, this should be made clear to customers before they book. It was so bad some days that we had to drive out of the area to find some peace.
Owner's reply: Dear Colin We were very sorry to read your review that you posted after your stay at our villa. You did make us aware of the noise from the music and we did contact the neighbour to request if they could turn the music down, which we understand they did. Our neighbours were having some improvement works done at their villa, which involved tiling their pool area. We have good neighbours. It is a shame it coincided with your stay. If you had contacted us earlier we would have been able to address the matter sooner for you. The gardener was booked in to come and trim and tidy the garden after your stay, mid season, ready for the ongoing season. It has been raining into late May this year, which has caused excessive growing of plants etc. The property is in the country therefore wasps, flies etc are to be expected during the summer. We have never had complaints of the wifi not working and have found that is has worked perfectly when we are there. Our main photo on the website clearly shows another property further up the hill. When you made your enquiry you asked about the peace and quiet and we advised you to read our reviews so that you could make your own judgement. We can only apologise that your stay at our villa did not give you the very high standards that you seemed to be looking for. Regards James and Roz
“We didn't want to leave and we can't wait to go back - what more is there to say?”
A clean, comfortable and welcoming villa in a secluded and private location, yet within close proximity to a small town with plenty of amenities. The gardens and pool are beautiful; well laid out, quiet and not overlooked. The views across the nearby mountains are impressive and yet you can reach the nearest beaches in about 35 minutes. The weather in October was perfect - sunny and 28C - so a perfect place to go to escape the rain and gloom of the UK. The villa is well appointed and was spotlessly clean on our arrival. The pool too was well maintained and the water was a good temperature for swimming and cooling down in All in all we had a great break at Casa Blanca and thoroughly recommend it.
Second year that we have stayed at the villa and once again it was fantastic! Still plenty of room, very comfortable and well equipped. There were some upgrades this year which were very welcome (shaded area by the pool, hairdryer provided, beautiful big bath towels and pool towels among other things). We are so impressed with this property that we are looking to book for next year already! Well done Roz and Jim on providing such lovely accommodation.
“Rest and Relaxation”
Very quiet picturesque location. Lovely villa with a beautiful pool and wonderful views over the countryside. Very comfortable, tasteful decorated with everything you need for a relaxing holiday
We arrived at silly o'clock in the morning due to our flight being delayed by 6.5 hours but Roz had kindly arranged for someone to pop up and leave the lights on so we wouldn't be arriving in total darkness! Got up the next morning to glorious sunshine and an absolutely stunning villa, just as described. In fact the pictures on the website really don't do it justice! Plenty of room, lovely furnishings, comfortable and very well equipped. The pool area is gorgeous with more than enough room to swim, play and laze about. There is also a paddock area for ball games and lovely gardens. The terrace is really pretty with all the plants and flowers. It was nice to be within walking distance of a restaurant / bar (Milo's) which did great food. The village was only 5 minutes away in the car and the supermarket there was very well stocked. Will definitely be returning.
“Beautiful Villa in stunning grounds.”
Have been holidaying in Andalucía for the last 10 years, we've always been lucky & have stayed at some lovely villas but Casa Blanca is definitely one of the best. The Villa is very spacious & your guaranteed the sun whatever time of day due to the numerous patios/ seating around the villa, great pool. Would definitely recommend to family & friends & hope to return sometime in the future.
