Casa da Oliveira - 'The House of Olive Trees' sleeps up to 10 and is a charming child friendly villa in the historic village of Sao Lourenco. It is surrounded by olive and Carib trees, and is in a sheltered, peaceful yet not isolated setting with country and mountain views.
The pretty walled and gated garden has night lighting, shrubs and lawns for children of all ages to use! There is plenty of shade under the bougainvillea-clad terraces or on the hammock swinging gently under the large carob tree - glass in hand of course!! The very privately situated HEATED 12m long tiled pool has Roman steps at one end and has a POOL FENCE that can be erected to enhance the safety of toddlers. The large built in BBQ by the pool makes for wonderful dining in the balmy Algarve evenings!
Therefore Casa da Oliveira with its walled and gated garden and private pool is the perfect place to just unwind in peace, to use as a base for a golfing holiday or from which to explore the numerous nearby attractions in the Algarve.

The Algarve region
To the west of Almancil lie the beautiful Monchique mountains and spa of Caldas de Monchique, Silves with its majestic castle, the beautiful old city of Lagos, Sagres, Cape Vincent, the Western Atlantic coast and Lisbon.
It was near Cape Vincent that Nelson sheltered his battle fleet under the cliffs while he waited to attack the Franco-Spanish navy at the battle of Trafalgar in which they lost twenty-two ships, without a single British vessel being lost!
Between the coast and Lisbon is the world famous wine growing area of Alentejo with it's fantastic red wines.
East of Faro is ancient and unspoilt Tavira where the incredible 'Parque Natural da Ria Formosa' ends. It has fascinating old bridges and buildings, a castle and several churches. A little further on is Spain where the beautiful and massive Guadiana river forms the frontier. Seville is then within reach.
Just before crossing the new bridge to Spain visit the village of Castro Marim with its 2 imposing castles which stand atop the hills overlooking the river. The Guadiana for centuries has formed the frontier between Portugal and Spain and its not many decades ago that the armed frontier guards of each nation would glower at each other across the river in mutual distrust! On the picturesque drive up the river from Castro Marim to Alcoutim some of the fortified frontier posts can still be seen. In Alcoutim have lunch at a riverside hostelry overlooking the river and Spain.
Our village of Sao Lourenco has a most attracive main street, a couple of bar/coffee shops, an art gallery, the 'Centro Cultural De Sao Lourenco' and the well known 'Igreja (Church) de São Lourenço' which attracts visitors from all over the Algarve.
Lively Almancil is less than 5 minutes away. It has everything - supermarket, butchers, 3 bakeries with bread and pastries to die for, petrol station, several banks, internet cafe, boutiques and numerous cafes, bars and restaurants of all types and prices (Try our favorite, Casa Nosso - sea bass and chips for 8.50 euros washed down with local wine at 3.50!!).
For those seeking activities 10 minutes drive reaches several of the Algarve's famous beaches, two water parks, horse riding, tennis, sea water sports and thirteen of the best golf courses in the region.
10 minutes also reaches the start of the amazing 'Parque Natural da Ria Formosa' which stretches nearly 40 miles to Tavira. It is one of Europes larges nature reserves and is home to many species of birds as well as acting as a temporary resting place for the tens of thousands of birds on their journeys to and from Africa. Take your binoculars and take the numerous walks that run between the land and the sea. There are hides from which to view or photograph the wildlife.
Within 15 minutes is Vilamoura with its huge marina surrounded by cafes, bars, boutiques and fashionable shops of all types. So is Loule, the provincial capital, with many fine old churches and buildings, traditional and modern shops and the famous covered market that on Saturdays spills out all over the surrounding streets.
In the other direction is the city of Faro (Faro is much more than just an airport!). In the centre there is the most interesting walled city within which is the Cathedral, a beautiful museum, galleries and open square with cafes and restaurants. On the way into Faro shopaholics can enjoy the large Jumbo Faro mall!
The nearby Palace of Estoi has been recently renovated quite wonderfully and discreetly into one of the national 'Pousada' hotels. You can lunch casually or dine formally there and admire the beauty of the rooms and gardens of the old palace.
Many cultural events take place in these locations not least in the 'Centro Cultural De Sao Lourenco' in our village, as well as in Loule and Faro.
