This villa maximises enjoyment for everyone, the pool is handily situated next to a large covered patio area so you can take it easy whilst more energetic guests splash around and have fun. If you fancy something a little quieter you can hide away on the roof terrace or in the large lawned garden behind the villa. If you have children, there is plenty of space to run around, there are swings and a trampoline with room to play football and make a noise whilst you find somewhere quiet to enjoy a glass of wine and a good book.

Casa Bela means relaxation and freedom to do as much or as little as you would like, when you would like - there is no queuing for sunbeds or hassles to cramp your style!

Once you have settled in then why not get out and explore what Aljezur and the Western Algarve has to offer? There are lots of things to do around the villa and on the Costa Vicentina such as:

The national park, with its amazing beaches, cliffs, woods, valley's, streams and lakes

Trips to Monchique, Alvor, Lagos, Praia da Luz and Sagres etc

Waterparks & Zoomarine - 50 minutes away

Surfing and Bodyboarding

Cycling and Mountain biking - MTB

Walking along the coastal path and in the forests

Horse riding & trekking

Boat trips

Bird watching & Nature trips

Golf, lots of courses to the south, 3 great courses within 40 minutes

Fishing including Deep Sea and Rock fishing for Sea Bass etc

You could even just relax on the amazing beaches, we provide a shelter, umbrella, cool box and beach chairs . Arrifana and Monte Clerigo are beautiful and just 6 minutes drive away - we saw dolphins on only our second visit to the beach so keep your eyes open, you may be lucky too!

Location description from owner

The Algarve region

The wonderful climate means this region has something to offer year round, Casa Bela is located in the Costa Vicentina National Park and just 6 minutes drive from the stunning local beaches of Monte Clerigo and Arrifana, a world class surfing beach. Within 20 minutes drive there is even more choice with Amoreira and Vale da Figueira, all local beaches have free parking so if beaches are your thing, you will be spoiled for choice. Most beaches have good quality beach bars, restaurants and life guards throughout the summer, at least.

The National Park has a beautiful natural landscape so is perfect for walking, enjoying nature and outdoor activities. There are plenty of places to eat out, all of the bars and restaurants understand English but the area retains a traditional Portuguese feel. The cost of living and prices in this area are more affordable than the South Coast but it is an easy 35 mins drive into Lagos or the other resorts if you want a more British feel and more holiday action.

Local Towns & Villages:

The nearest town of Aljezur is 10 minutes away and remains traditionally Portuguese yet English is understood in most places. The old part of the town has an historical Moorish castle and there is a daily undercover market selling fish, fruit and vegetables. The newer part of the town has banks, shops and restaurants. There is a large modern supermarket with ample parking it is well stocked to really enjoy your stay, fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish are good value seem to taste better than in the UK.

35 minutes drive takes you to the much busier and interesting town of Lagos then along the south coast to Praia da Luz, Burgau, Salema and out to Europe's most western town, Sagres about 50 minutes away. Lagos has plenty to see and do with history, a lovely marina and a vast array of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. It has some superb beaches too such as Meia Praia but it is Lagos coastline, with it's stunning cliffs and grottoes, that is not to be missed. These can be enjoyed by walking along the cliff tops but the best way is from the sea on a local boat or kayak where you can get right inside the grottoes and swim from the larger boats too.It is well worth visiting the southern coastal towns, villages and beaches as they lovely, are very easy to reach and offer a different experience to the laid back way of life in Vale da Telha.

Things to do - the great outdoors!

The best thing about a villa holiday in Portugal and the national park is the freedom and beauty of the great outdoors. This unique area allows you to experience some world class outdoor sporting activities, not just in the summer but throughout the year too. The climate in Portugal means you can enjoy your favourite activity outside of the peak holiday periods as visiting Casa Bela and using local specialists can be very cost effective if you plan ahead. Whatever your interest, we will gladly put you in touch with the right people to get the most from your holiday.

Surfing & Bodyboarding:

The local beach of Arrifana is recognised for it's world class right hand point break, this beach and the nearby Praia do Amado host surfing competitions because of the reliability and quality of the surf. There is lots of choice to suit your experience and plenty of local surf schools to learn or polish up your surfing too. There is a wash down and outside storage/drying area for your wetsuits and boards or a number of hire shops if you want to rent some kit. There are some very well recommended local surf schools, a quick search on Google and Trip Advisor will find one that suits your needs.

Walking:

The hills and valleys around Aljezur are beautiful, peaceful and ripe for exploring yourself or for joining a guided walk. The newly opened Rota Vicentina is a marked walking route throughout the national park and a superb addition to walking in this area and beyond. There is plenty of information about walking in the villa with a dedicated area to clean off your kit and store your boots before you plan what to do next.

Mountain Biking:

Mountain bike journalists recommend the Western Algarve as one of the top five places in Europe to ride and top fifty in the world. The local area is pretty much unexplored and we will be building up information on trails as we get it but the Rota Vincenta can be used for mountain biking or you can just get out and explore yourselves. However the best way to enjoy your stay is to book onto a guided ride as the companies running them provide great value and a superb MTB experience. They have an extensive knowledge of all the trails and tailor each ride to guests on that day. They offer all types of mountain biking from their center in Lagos, from a relaxed scenic day trip to full downhill and freeride. They have all the equipment you need for hire, a purpose built bike trailer, a minibus and a 4x4 for shuttle runs. If you are relatively new to mountain biking then there are local companies that hire out general purpose mountain bikes but if you are an expert – why not bring your own! If you bring your own then there is an area to lock your bike in the villa garage.

Nature & Bird Watching:

The area around Vale da Telha is called the Costa Vicentina National Park which is protected and allows nature to flourish. Bird watching is good year round but quieter in July and August, all seasons have their own particular species and there are always a number of specialities that are unlikely to be seen elsewhere in the Algarve. Spring brings the summer breeding visitors and some smaller migrations, water birds pass through in appreciable numbers. The autumn migration period from late August to mid-November is more significant and includes large numbers of seabirds, raptors and passerines. The Sagres area is probably best for watching migratory birds but the incredibly bio-diverse Cork Oak woodlands and scrublands of Costa Vicentina around Aljezur will produce additional species not seen along the Atlantic coast. There are a number of local naturalists that offer guiding services, should you want this.

Boating, Kayaking & Diving:

If you fancy Boating, Kayaking or Diving then head into Lagos or Sagres where there are a number of local companies set up to give you a good time. There are plenty of places to eat in those areas so get organised and fill the whole day with adventure and great food before crashing out back home at Casa Bela.

Golf:

Portugal is well known for its dedication to golf and golfing holidays. Vila Casa Bela is not located in a prime golfing area due to it being in the national park. However there are three good quality golf courses within 35-45 minutes drive, Boavista, Parque da Floresta and Palmares Golf Resort. More well-known courses are within an easy one hour drive back towards Faro.

Water Parks, Zoomarine and Lagos Zoo:

If you want some family fun and excitement then try a day out at Slide & Splash or Aqualand waterparks along the South coast. Zoomarine and Lagos Zoo provide another alternative for family fun during your stay.

Sea Fishing:

Sea fishing on the Algarve offers something for all anglers, charter boats offer easy reef and bottom fishing through to deep sea fishing for shark, predominantely Blues and Mako, with some spectacular Marlin fishing at certain times of the year. One of the most interesting and accessible types of fishing is on the immediate coastline - lure fishing for sea bass. A quick search on You Tube will show you the quality of the bass that can be caught within the area. Standard bassing gear, lures and methods which work in UK waters are just as effective in Portugal too.

Aljezur

Vale da Telha, a development of residential and holiday villas, is on the western coast in a beautiful national park, Casa Bela is in a quiet residential side road near a small number of local bars and restaurants. Fresh bread, pastries, milk, fruit, vegetables and other supplies etc can be picked up from a local shop, just a few minutes walk away. There are a number of beach bars within 6-7 minutes drive, banks, ATMs, more bars, restaurants, takeaways and a large supermarket can be found in the nearest town of Aljezur. Further afield there are the bustling beach resorts of Lagos and Praia de Luz, other nearby places of interest are Monchique, the highest point of the Algarve, the town of Sagres and it's fort at the most westerly point of Portugal and the medieval town of Silves. There are also water parks and Zoomarine within easy access, they are just off the A21 motorway. For those those interested in retail therapy then head to the Algarve Shopping Centre, there are plenty of good quality shops, all undercover and air conditioned. There is a plentiful choice of eating places and a cinema showing English speaking films too.

Getting around

Driving is the best way to get around and to travel from Faro or Lisbon airports. Fuel can be obtained in Aljezur, around 10 minutes drive from the villa. Parking is free everywhere locally, it's only in the larger towns in the tourist areas along the Southern Algarve that charges might apply.

Interaction with guest

We are always eager to help, we want you to have a great time so will provide a detailed handbook well before your departure. (A copy will be in the villa too.) It tells you all about the villa, facilities and what to expect from your holiday. A week or two before you arrive we will provide clear directions to a nearby meeting point and someone will escort you to the villa to show you around. It's all quite straightforward but if you need a little help or advice we can be contacted easily once you have settled in too.

“EXCELLENT RELAXING HOLIDAY IN BEAUTIFUL VILLA”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2016

Excellent villa, fully equipped and excellently maintained. The owners take great care and pride in their property to make your stay as relaxing and as enjoyable as possible. The surrounding area suits both the active and those who just want to relax. Take a dip in the lovely pool before sitting on the roof terrace with a nice glass of wine enjoying the lovely view of the surrounding area. There is a local, well stocked shop selling most things including pastries and bread baked on the premises. The shop and local restaurants are within easy walking distance and the surrounding area offers beautiful beaches and lovely scenery. Overall a fantastic villa to enjoy a well deserved holiday. Ten out of ten.

Thank you very much for such a fantastic review of Casa Bela. We really appreciate you taking the time to let others know what to expect from a holiday at our villa. We really hope you will return next year!

“Tranquil Villa”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2015

The villa is in a quite location, it has a local shop and bar/restaurants. There are beaches that are close and fantastic places to visit some with amazing views, plenty of shopping so you can either chill by the pool or go out and about and explore.

Thank you very much for your review, we are very pleased you enjoyed our villa. For 2016 we have landscaped the garden, reposition the trampoline and added more kit too. There is now a Wireless Bluetooth speaker together with a full wash down and drying area for your wetsuits and boards. We have also added a solar pool cover to help warm and retain heat within the swimming pool.

“Casa Bela”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2015

This lovely villa is immaculately clean, even the driveway and the pool obviously gets cleaned regularly, We do holiday regular, 5 or 6 times a year, a couple of which would be abroad. Our holidays are varied anything from a long weekend to a 2 week cruise. And i like to say the owners have obviously put a lot of thought into what you may need whilst on holiday in a villa. It was like being home away from home. There was everything that we needed for the week we were here, well apart from a tape measure, but to be fair it's not something you would expect to need whilst on holiday. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the villa, there was a list of places we wanted to visit and things to do which didn't leave much time for chilling at this lovely villa. Portugal is a lovely country, the people are very friendly and helpful, prices are very reasonable. I have never written a review, but felt i wanted to as the owners have put so much effort and heart into this villa, its content and for providing such useful information about the local areas. By the way, sorry i broke one of your mugs on your granite worktop.

“Great family villa”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2015

The villa has everything that you need for a great holiday. If like myself you enjoy cooking the kitchen is well equipped with all the utensils , pans etc that you would need. A bonus for me was the sharp knives ( sad I know ! ) but It really winds me up when there isn't a sharp knife in the drawer when you're away . There is also a table and chairs that you can dine at on the roof which was really quaint .we did this a couple of times when not barbecuing . BBQ area is great with plenty of room. There are plenty of water toys for the kids so mine who are four and six years old we're thrilled. The trampoline was a hit also. If you don't want to cook every night as of course you're on holiday then there are 3 restaurants within walking distance. We had a great time , the local beaches were good. We went into Lagos a few evenings which is about a 30 minute drive but worth it as its a lovely vibrant town with lots of restaurants to choose from. A great place to stay at the villa as you can do as little or as much as you want.

Thank you very much for your lovely review, we are very pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will visit the villa again in the future

“Perfect family holiday.”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this villa and it was absolutely brilliant. We are a family of four, kids are aged 10 and 6, and everything we needed was here. The heated pool, large garden and villa itself is perfect, and there are lots of extras included like the inflatables for the pool, the equipment for the beach (parasol, sun tent etc), car booster seat...luckily as we had forgotten ours! The villa is not overlooked and so is very secluded and private. The accommodation is very new, clean and modern and ideal for a family or couples. The village is peaceful and within a short drive to local beaches - Amoriera was our favourite! There is a local shop that provides most things and a supermarket within 5 mins drive too. There are two local bars/restaurants that you can walk to (5 mins) and they provide good value meals - we visited both several times and were always happy with the food and service which was really friendly. We visited Slide & Splash water park which was great fun (we took the parasol and sun tent and were glad of the shade), Zoo-marina was another great day out, dolphin show, pirate acrobat act, and lots more - the kids loved it. We also took a boat trip with Days of Adventure in Lagos to see dolphins out in the Atlantic Ocean, and we did, and it was fantastic. Lagos is also good for a visit in the evening - there is good street entertainment and plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes. We had days where we just stayed at the villa playing in the pool and garden and days out visiting attractions, beaches or just the beautiful coastline. All in all we had a brilliant family holiday (the weather was perfect, hot and sunny but not unbearable and perfect for kids). We will definitely book to holiday here again.

Hi Irene, thank you very much for your kind review, it is very much appreciated by ourselves and very helpful for other guests too.
