House rules

Hello, we hope you enjoy our apartment with views in Alhaurin. We recently fitted a new Samsung air conditioning system to the house which is a fabulous boon in very hot weather. We realise that some guests will wish to use it much more than others, therefore in order to be fair and to make allowances for extra power usage, we will take, and give you a meter reading on both arrival and departure and the difference will be deducted from the damage deposit.

“Splendid apartment away from the bustle of the Costa del Sol”

Reviewed 8 May 2018

For anyone wanting a taste of the real Spain this is the ideal place to stay. Surrounded by orange groves and mostly Spanish neighbours, there's even a lemon tree growing in the back yard! The apartment itself is spacious and comes with all mod cons, Very clean and comfortable. Great outdoor terraces on two levels. Friendly, English-speaking local taxi driver. Alhaurin el Grande has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and easy transport (Bus) connections to Malaga, Fuengirola and beyond. Malaga is a city which has undergone a bit if a facelift recently and is well worth a visit. See the cathedral, view the Picasso Museum and his birthplace, try the tapas. There are town and city maps and even a book of road maps of Spain in the apartment. We were badly in need of a break after a long cold winter and a family bereavement and this gem certainly fitted the bill. Highly recommended.

Owner's reply: Hi Sam and Kate really pleased you enjoyed your stay and the many things Alhaurin has to offer. With a population of 24000 there is always lots happening. Hurry back! Peter and Karen

“Great Hub Location for an Andalucian Experience”

The Apartment was as described - very spacious, and now fitted with a new kitchen, Air conditioning in the Master Bedroom and also in the lounge area which could also cool down the rest of the apartment. Wifi provided (a must have nowadays !!) We spent most of our week using the hired car picked up at Malaga Airport (30 minute drive to the apartment) to get around. Visited the beach on 2 days and less than 30 minutes away towards Marbella. Mijas, Ronda, both are well worth a visit. There are a couple of restaurants local and also a couple of Mini supermarkets. We enjoyed the walk every night into the centre of Alhaurin with many restaurants and Tapas Bars. My favourite was the Pin Pin Garlic Prawns. We would return to the upper terrace late afternoon and soak up some sunshine and the lower terrace. later on in the evening for beer or wine and a blether. Great holiday and totally different from anything we have done before.

Owner's reply: Hi Graham Thank you for the nice review. We would be delighted to see you return anytime Kind Regards Peter and Karen

“Idyllic location”

Just back from a wonderful week in Aleurin el Grande. The Apt is located in the old part of the town and is ideal for visiting local eateries. The Apt is spacious and the balcony is a great spot to sunbathe and view the local stunning scenery. You are spoiled for restaurants and local patisserie. We had a car for a few days and visited Ronda, not to be missed and Mijas. 15 mins to the beach if you want to lounge about and apt is really central to visit parts of Spain you would normally miss. If I retire and want to buy a place Alheuron would be top of my list. Prices are very cheap and the local tapas superb. 10/10 superb.

Owner's reply: Thank you for the very nice review. We will extend the suggested tapas tour and hope to see you back again very soon Kind regards Peter and Karen

We stayed in the apartment for ten days and as soon as we arrived we knew we were going to love it. Clean and spacious rooms with fabulous views from the terraces of the surrounding mountains. Upper sun terrace was totally private whilst the shaded lower terrace was where we spent many hours chilling and relaxing. The local people were very friendly and we were made to feel really welcome in Alhaurin el Grande. The Urbano, the local bus service, a bus stop at the end of the street, approximately 25 metres away from the apartment was great at only a Euro to take you into the town centre. Air conditioning in apartment was brilliant and we felt that we had a lovely relaxing stay and would definitely recommend this apartment and town.

Owner's reply: Thanks Janette and Alex Glad you had fun We would be delighted to see you back anytime!

Owner's reply: Hi Eleanor and Eric Really glad you had (another) nice stay. You are welcome any time! Regards Peter and Karen

“A true taste of the real Spain”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2013

Our family family wanted to sample "real Spain", away from the bustle and hustle of the main resorts yet close enough to sample these if we so wished. With 3 grown up daughters joining us for the first week and our fourth arriving from her work in Valencia the second week we needed a villa that could accommodate 6 adultsl with room to spare. This villa more than surpassed our expectations and was within 30 mins easy reach from Malaga Airport by our hire car. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped (with the paella pan filled to capacity feeding all six of us at times). It also had two full size bathrooms - important when 4 grown up daughters want to get ready for a night out! The tiled floors throughout the house and shutters provided respite from the heat if we needed. The lower terrace also provided shade yet allowed us to still enjoy the sights, sounds and the occasional mountain breeze and the upper terrace was ideal for the sun-worshipers among us. The town is beautiful and with an abundance of great restaurants, tapas bars and shops, there was really no need to go any further. Just a pity 2 weeks wasn't long enough to cover them all! The town is also a great base from which to explore the local areas. ElChorro Gorge, the Guadalhorce Lakes, the pretty white washed mountain top town of Mijas all got a number of visits during the fortnight together with a few visits to Marbella old town and its wonderful beach. All in all, this was a wonderful find and I'm absolutely sure we will be back again as there was so much more on our wish list that we just didn't have the time to do. Our sincere thanks to the owners, Peter and Karen, who gave so many helpful tips and suggestions and made our first and certainly not last visit a wonderful experience.

“'Experience real Spain'”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2013

We stayed here as an extended family of 6, ages ranging from 3 to 66. We all had a truly amazing holiday, the apartment was fantastic, superbly equipped and a great location. With everything you need easily accessible, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, bakers all very close by and only a short and very enjoyable walk into the town. We stayed during the towns 'ferria' (festival) week, what an experience, the amosphere of the town was fantastic, live music, flamenco dancing, parades, fun fair. The owners have an excellent guide inside the apartment listing fab places to eat and drink and lots of information about local places to visit, we didnt have a car and certainly didnt need one, we did use the local bus service, which was very reliable, to visit other nearby towns like mijas and fuengirola. The area was also a lot cheaper. Would definetly return to orange grove. We all loved it :))

“Very enjoyable holiday”

My wife and I went here on a short vacation to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and were joined by my In-Laws, Bobby and Janie. The first thing you realize when you get there is just how accessible it is from the airport. The apartment is in an excellent area in the middle of town and the local people are extremely friendly. We used to regularly visit the local bar 'La Higuera' which serves excellent food and is a great place to sit at breakfast time and enjoy the cofee and watch the world go by. We also ate at a small tapas bar called 'Sardinia' in town and again, found the food excellent with good service. The apartment has everything you need and is very clean and tidy. It has lovely views from the two terraces. We thoroughly enjoyed the vacation and played golf at the Seve Ballesteros course 'Al Haurin' and another local course. It seems a very popular place for golfers to stay as it is has many excellent courses close by and it seemed every time we went out for a 'Shandy", we met people who were able to recommend different courses they had played and were back on a regular basis to play again. All in all, a great vacation and we will definately go back. Jim and Laraine Ardrossan

“Life changing Alhaurin”

Reviewed 17 May 2013

This apartment is Spanish, in a beautiful 'real' working living Spanish town. Well equipped and comfortable the apartment is ideally located. We have fallen in love with the town and the people, so much so that my Mum now spends half her time in Alhaurin and half back home in Scotland! And is taking Spanish lessons in the town. The restaurants are varied to suit all tastes and pockets, there are excellent supermarkets, local shops, and weekly street market, and what could be better than sipping a coffee at one of the many café's people watching. Juan the local taxi driver is excellent, full of local information, kind and considerate, and yes he really is available 24/7 - invaluable for peace of mind. The beaches of the coast, and city shopping in Malaga are only a drive away for that bit of variety. This town and it's friendly people, this apartment, and the Watson's, presented the perfect package for our needs and beyond. Thank you so much for introducing us to the wonderful Alhaurin it has been life changing for the good.
