Description

My two-bedroom Spanish holiday apartment is located in a lovely area of the Costa Blanca, within easy reach of both Alicante and Murcia airports. The apartment is in well maintained gated community. The Fontana development is located on the edge of the small Spanish town of Algorfa , and is next to open countryside, including orange and lemon groves. The apartment is in an elevated position, with good views over the surrounding area, nearby mountains and the countryside.

There is a cleaning charge of 50 euros payable in cash on arrival for stays of up to one week, and 60 euros for longer stays.

The Fontana Algorfa development comprises four sets of apartments around a communal pool and landscaped walkways. Entry is by wrought iron gates with lifts serving the three floors above ground level. My apartment is an “Atico” on the top floor. It has a private balcony with good views and a spiral staircase up to a private roof solarium which, of course, is a sun trap.

If you are interested in making a booking please check the availability calendar which is kept completely up to date. This will save you time enquiring about dates that have already gone. Also you can be fairly certain that if dates appear to be free, they are available.

There is a set of Dunlop right hand golf clubs at the apartment which you are welcome to use. Two mountain bikes and helmets are provided for the use of guests and a yoga mat. Wifi available for 10 euros a week. Freesat HD British TV channels available to view on the Sony flatscreen television.

The stunning beaches at Guardamar are 15 minutes drive away. Picturesque Elch/Elx 20mins and Torrevieja 15mins. There are nice bars, cafes and restaurants in Algorfa village as well as three small supermarkets and three bakeries. Many other restaurants are within easy reach by car. Algorfa is next to countryside so you may wish to walk or use the free bicycles to explore the area.

Apartment redecorated November 2015. Absolutely no smoking anywhere in the apartment or on the balcony and sun terrace. If you smoke I would prefer that you rent elsewhere. I expect you to treat my apartment as a home from home and respect it in the same way. All consumable like loo roll etc should be replaced.

Once you have booked you will be put in contact by email with my local on-site rep Veronica who hands over keys and collects the cleaning charge payable on arrival of 50 euros for one week and 60 euros for longer stays. Please email Veronica with your flight details and likely arrival time and to book internet etc.

An electricity meter is fitted in the apartment. You will have at least 10 euros of credit on the meter when you arrive. Top up cards are available from Veronica. How much electricity you use is largely dependent on how much you use the air conditioning or the blown air heating in the winter months. It is unusual to need more than one 10 euro top up card per week.

Further details

There is a changeover charge per booking so that the apartment can be prepared by our local representatives for the next visitors. You will be asked to pay 50 Euros on arrival for up to one week in the apartment, and 60 Euros for longer stays. You will be asked to pay a non-returnable deposit to secure your booking, with the balance for the rental charge paid by cheque or PayPal one month before your holiday. We work with other owners on the same complex and in the event of any date clashes, unexpected maintenance work etc we reserve the right to give you an identical apartment on the same complex should this be necessary (it rarely is). I If no other properties are available you will be issued with a full refund.

Further details indoors

The apartment is fully air conditioned (which doubles up as a blown warm air heating system for chilly winter evenings) and has two bedrooms – one double and one twin. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge area making is possible to sleep up to six people. The apartment has an entrance hall, utility room with washing machine, kitchen area (including hob, oven and fridge/freezer), lounge, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with bath, shower, sink, wc and bidet. The apartment is fully furnished, with all the crockery, cutlery and pots and pans that you might need. Bed linen and towels (but not beach towels) are included. There is satelite TV and a DVD player. Wifi is available for a small extra charge of 10 euros a week. The electricity is run from a card payment meter. Each rental week includes 10 euros of electricity which is sufficient for normal usage. Additional cards can be bought from my local on site rep.

Further details outdoors

There is a secure underground car park accessed via an electronic key. Alternatively there is plenty of free parking on the roads around Fontana 1. The apartment complex is next to orange and lemon groves and a road leading up to La Finca Golf course, so the area is very countryfied. There are a number of restaurants and bars a short walk away. Also banks and a small English owned Supermarket. The village also contains a bakery, Bank, internet cafe and many other shops. There is a lift to all floors. There are 5 golf courses nearby, with La Finca right on your doorstep.

The Valencian Country region

With 320 sunny days a year, the Costa Blanca is one of the best bets for sun all year round. The stretch of coastline between Alicante and Mucia boast some of the best beaches in Spain, with our nearest beach, Guardama, always ranked amongst the best. The sand dunes behind the beach are a protected area. Bustling Alicante will satisfy those who like historic cites and shopping, while there is a huge outdoor market every Sunday about two miles away. There are some lovely day trips to be had - to Elche/Elx, which has its famous palms and botanical gardens and zoo, to the island of Pola where you can snorkel amongst fish and reef, and to nearby Torrevieja where there are shops and two water parks.

Algorfa

You could find all you want in Alforga, with a range of local bars, cafes and restaurants -- as well as shops and internet cafes. There is a market every weekend in this typically Spanish village, with a quaint village square and light traffic. Further afield (but not too far) there are some great restaurants at San Miguel (yes, and drink the beer!) and Almoradi. Plenty of golf courses nearby, a large municipal swimming pool, tennis courts and a huge lake at San Miguel for those who like catching carp and barbel.

“Nice and relaxing time”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2016

A lovely apartment that didn't disappoint. Very tidy and comfortable, and being top floor having a private roof space was a nice bonus! Underground parking too! Reliable electrics too (no cutting out when boiling the kettle like I had up the road in Fontana II on a previous visit). Veronica who holds the keys lives in the same block and is really friendly, from showing you round, to being there to help (not that we needed any), and sorting out some WiFi. There's loads of leaflets for places to visit, taxi companies (though you should have your own car), places to eat etc. Food is unbelievably cheap If you know where to look, there are some real nice places to eat. We went to the Restaurant Alquibla on the main road nr the pharmacy where you can get a menu de dia (menu of the day) for about €14pp, which is a 3 course meal plus a wine/beer/water. Lovely Spanish food. And also a must is The Vestry. A little more money but you won't regret it! There's many bars and coffee shops in and around the square, both Spanish and English, but the best place we had entertainment was the Hotel Algorfa & Hungarian Restaurant. On Tuesdays they do a quiz with a local DJ, Andy, that was very busy when we went; a great atmosphere. And you dont have to come first to win a prize. Great food there too and a cracking view of the sunset over the mountains. We also did a rock n roll bingo on Saturday night. (And they have the football on too!) Also a visit to the spa at La Finca Golf Resort is a must. (If u have a spare €20pp). If u like shopping check out La Zenia Boulevard (nr Torrevieja) and Murcia has 3 of 4 shopping centres all just off the main A7 motorway. There are also markets that pop up on different days in different towns, Guadamar is huge!! Two never ending streets of stalls. The Guadamar beach (15 min away by car) is stunning but if you eat there, don't eat by the seafront (unless you really want the sea view). You can find much cheaper places on the main road in town. We went to Restaurante Jáen where a lunch Menu a dia was only 9€.

“Lovely apartment”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2012

We stayed in this apartment for a week at the beginnig of June, it was lovely and clean, had excellent facilities, was in a lovely setting, and excellent value for money. I would recommend it to anyone.

“Good Value”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2011

I have just returned to England after spending 7 weeks in this apartment with my wife. In my opinion it is extremely good value for what you pay, The beds are quite comfy, it has a fully functional kitchen with pots and pans, It has air conditioning which was very effective with day time temperatures sometimes creeping up to 47 degrees. The apartment has a very good compliment of Television channels consisting of Freesat ,BBC,ITV 1,2 3,4, etc ,plus all the kids channels, movie channels ,and British radio channels I added SKY News during my stay there, if that was not enough all the Spanish channels are available with some movies with English audio if you have a traveller digital TV with this function.. For me though the thing I enjoyed most about this apartment was the secluded roof terrace which is a sun trap, one can sunbathe from dawn until dusk with no danger of any shadows spoiling the day, we enjoyed the peace and tranquillity up there so much that we spent much of our stay up there just relaxing and frying in the sun. In my opinion this apartment was more than adequate for a long term let with the Air Con having the function of doubling as a heater in the winter. For what I paid and the value factor I give this apartment a very respectable 5 Stars, the roof terrace secured the 5th star, we really enjoyed our stay in this apartment, and the Fontana Complex in general.

“Perfect place for a relaxed family holiday at an affordable price.”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2011

We have had a fantastic two-week holiday here. The apartment was immaculate when we arrived and we were greeted with a very warm welcome and provided with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The accomodation was a good size for our young family of four. We enjoyed meals out on the balcony with views of the mountains and the roof solarium provided a multi functional space for playing/ sunbathing and yoga (yoga mat provided)! . We spent a lot of time in the pool where my son learnt to swim! Plenty of beautiful places to visit but a car is essential. The hidden coves nr Santa Pola were our favourite spots and each evening we enjoyed wandering down to the square in algorfa where we could watch our boys playing whilst enjoying a drink.
