Location description from owner
The Sardinia region
Sardinia"An exciting blend of the Italian and the Spanish, with unbelievably clear waters lapping golden sands and breathtaking backdrops of green covered mountains, Sardinia is a Mediterranean jewel."Sardinia is where Italians come for their holidays!BeachesWith waters so clear you can see the seabed and unspoilt stretches of golden and white sand, you can see why Sardinia attracts sun lovers from the Italian main land. At present, the beaches remain relatively uncrowded throughout the year, except for peak season, as these beautiful sections of coast have yet to become major resorts. There are opportunities to try your hand at several water sports, including surfing, windsurfing, water-skiing and sailing. Diving can be particularly interesting with the wrecks off the coast providing a unique experience.NightlifeUnsurprisingly for a people who love their food and wine, an evening out on this island revolves dining out, savouring the flavours and enjoying good company. There are a few bars dotted around, with occasional live music, but on the whole, this island has remained free of the neon and noise that tourism can bring with it.Two hundred kilometres away from the Italian mainland and a little over that from the North African coast, Sardinia sits in the centre of the Mediterranean, providing a mild climate and unbeatable sunshine. Its seat in the centre mean that centuries of civilizations have swept across the island, from the Romans to the Genoans to the most recent visitors, the Catalonians. Each people left behind a little bit of history, adding to the unique patchwork of Sardinian culture – Roman ruins, Pisan churches, baroque and gothic architecture.Local SpecialitiesThis Italian island has strong Spanish influences and the food is no exception, with Catalonian fish stews appearing on menus along with pastas and pizzas. Sample the huge varierty of seafood and the spit roast pig. Sardinian cuisine is about fresh ingredients, simply prepared and complimented by a good wine. When it comes to wine, there's no shortage of choice, from hefty reds through to fruity whites.
Alghero Town Centre
Alghero is a bustling town of about 35,000 inhabitants. It lies in the province of Sassari in north-western Sardinia, Italy. While Alghero is one of the island's main resorts it remains a flourishing fishing port and has maintained local businesses independent from tourism, meaning that the resort is unspoilt and as friendly as ever.400 years of Spanish Catalan domination in the past have left their heritage and influence. Churches, buildings, cobbled narrow streets, bastion walls that in the past made the town a fortress against the invaders, all invite the visitor to gaze and discover the beauty the town has to offer. The picturesque old town of Alghero has an abundant choice of restaurants and good shopping too. The most elegant old streets surround the cathedral, at the centre of the town.White sandy beaches stretch for miles making it a paradise for sun lovers. Local activities include scuba diving, kite surfing, snorkelling, swimming, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, wind-surfing, water skiing, mountain biking. There is a boat trip to the enchanting caves of Nettuno near Capo Caccia. There is a nature reserve at Capo Caccia where you can wander and see wildlife, animals and birds, and cross to the other side of the coast and see the rugged cliffs and beautiful blue sea..Festivals and sagras are not to be missed:Easter: Holy Week celebrationsSeptember sees the celebrations of San Michele,Patron Saint of the town, with lots of street parties and shows a huge fireworks finale and lots more!Christmas and New Year celebrations are also full of entertainments for even the most discerning visitor and a fireworks displays welcomes the New Year. With a vast number of places to visit you are spoilt for choice, a couple of places we recommend you visit arethe breathtaking Grottos of Neptune, the prehistoric Nuraghe of Palmavera and may I also include the world famous vineyards and cellars of the Sella and Mosca local wine producer.

“Beautiful flat in ideal location in Alghero”
We have stayed 9 days in the Corallo apartment. From the booking to our departure day Giovanni was always very helpful and available via email and over the phone. The flat is comfortable, very modern and super clean as the pictures shown on the site. The apartment is well located: you can go to the city centre of Alghero in less than 20 min by foot and the same distance to the beach. There are two supermarkets very nearby and we felt very safe in this area of town. If you have a car there is free parking in the street. I definitely recommend this flat to anyone that wants to have a good time in this amazing corner of Sardinia!
“Beautiful and quiet”
We stayed for a week at Corallo Apartment in July. We had no complaints at all, Alghero is a great place, and not too crowded with tourists we found. But still plenty going on. The apartment is about a 10 minute walk from both the town and the beach! quicker still if you ride the bikes! No hills makes it an easy ride as well. The location means you are close enough to everything but at night it is peaceful and quiet.
