The Languedoc-Roussillon region
This is a beautiful area close to two large natural parks. The Cevennes with mountain walking and biking trails and skiing in the winter.
The flat marsh lands of the Camargue with the white horses and pink flamingos.
If you want the beach Le Grand Motte has more than a mile long stretch of safe sandy beach with boating activities to rent.
There is also a small riverside beach in the local town where children can hire pedalos whilst children relax.
Not to be missed are the many historic sites. Combine a day of canoeing with a trip to the amazing Pont de Gard, canoeing beneath this historic monument is truly an amazing experience.
For the outward bound tru paragliging at seynes or quad biking at collias. In Ales there is a proefessional go kart track- beat your parents to the finish line!
We are also close to an international driving circuit for saloon cars the Circuit de Monteils, look at the calender for meetings.
The house is on the edge of Monteils village, close to the town of Ales. This town has typical french boulevards and cafe's as well as an indoor pool with flumes, a theatre, excellent selection of shops and good restuarants.
Our favourite restuarant os Les Voutins 4km away from the house at Mejannes we think this food should be reviewed by Michelin.
Whether you choose the three course or the 8 course menu gastranomique is never disappoints and is easily as good as any top city venue.
There are good local small shops and a hypermarket.
Wine tasting is just up the road and the local markets Saturday/ Wednesday at Uzes, Thursday at Anduze. Combine Thursday with the train to the cevennes and a stop at the bambousarie.
Visit the caves at Trabuc, the amphithatre and art museum at Nimes.
Pull up a sunbed, pour a cold drink, and relax........................

"Lovely house situated in an idyllic part of Southern France"
We stayed here for a week in September. The house was spacious and well-kept, with a large pool and a fantastic garden. We were a group of 6, but there was easily space for more people to have stayed. We found that there was plenty to do in the surrounding area, as the house is not far from both Nimes and Avignon, as well as the small town of Ales (by car). There is a handy-man who pops in and out to help look after the property and the guests, and although he speaks very little English we had no problems communicating with him. Being a big wine-producing area there are also numerous 'Caveaus' where you can pick up litres of wine for only a few pounds, and markets where you can get lots of fresh food. The weather (as you'd expect) was perfect. Warm in the day, with clear skies at night - perfect for wandering around exploring the area, or just relaxing by the pool all day. We didn't want to leave at the end of the week, and looking forward to returning again in the near future!
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed your holiday.

"A splendid spacious property set in wonderful grounds"
My family and I were delighted to discover that not only was the house spacious and tastefully decorated but incredibly homely. The facilities could not be faulted. The pool was just divine and much larger than your average private pool. The many acres of private grounds (not overlooked by any angle) included space to play all sorts of sports and were big enough and safe enough for the children to go off exploring for hours. The tree house was the icing on the cake for my young sons! We are definitely going to be returning, probably with a couple of other families as there is more than enough space for everyone to either be enjoying a whole host of different activities, lazing by the pool reading or simply enjoying a meal altogether outside with a beautiful view. To sum the property, I would say one word Heaven!
Thanks Caroline I am really glad you enjoyed your stay we hope to see you again best wishes Lesley
