This lovely 2 bed 2 bathroom Penthouse Apartment is situated in an elevated position on this new development halfway between the pretty village of Calabardina and the beautiful town of Aguilas on the Costa Calida in sunny southern Spain. The property is luxuriously furnished with good quality English linen including English duvets for the cooler months, and would sleep a maximum six. .The property's position gives some of the BEST VIEWS on the whole development of the sea, town and mountains stretching over 30 miles down the coast to nearby Andalucia. Privacy is guaranteed as the balcony and 60sq ft roof terrace are not overloooked by any other properties but it is easily accessible and cars may be parked right at the door making it suitable for families or guests with mobility problems although there are steps to the roof terrace. For hotter days there is a new pergola for shade. On site facilities include use of 3 pools, (two with kiddies sections) a small play park,and tennis courts. There is a golf course within walking distance and a further one 20 minutes by car. There is a cafe/snack bar on site, an excellent restaurant/tapas/bar a few minutes walk away and a fine selection of cafes, bars and restaurants in nearby Aguilas, a five minute drive away. A bus service from Los Collados to Aguilas operates every half hour daily. In Calabardina there is a bar/restaurant right on the beach from which you can sit and watch the most glorious sunsets. Further afield a brand new water park has recently opened in Vera, about 25 mins by car. Canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, motor boat hire, horse riding are all available locally. Large shopping complex including hypermarket is 1 km away.

The Region of Murcia region

The area is largely unknown to the Britsh visitor but is a well established favourite with discerning Spanish tourists who come mostly in July and August to escape the searing heat of the cities. Outside of these months it is pleasantly uncrowded. The climate is wonderfully warm and sunny during most of the year and the winter months are surprisingly mild making this an ideal desination for an out of season holiday. There are several safe sandy beaches, the nearest one being less than 1 .5 kms from the apartment., where you can laze, swim, snorkel, scuba dive or take a leisurely boat trip from the harbour. Aguilas is predominantly still an important fishing port. This is evident in the excellent sea-food restaurants which abound around the port. There are lots of good bars, tapas bars, restaurants, cafes and ice cream parlours to satisfy the most discerning palate but are surprisingly easy on the pocket. A typical 3course meal with a drink costs an average of 9 euros. Aguilas has a lovely square, Plaza de Espana, which has several large shady palm tree and a cooling fountain complete with white doves. This is a lovely place to sit for a coffee, beer or a light meal during the day. Nightlife is limited except for the many restaurants and cafes but there is a newly opened music bar for livelier evenings close to the square, also a Casino. Aguilas is a very safe area and is ideal for young families and couples alike seeking a quality holiday in beautiful surroundings. In February Aguilas hosts one of the most flambuoyant Fiestas in the whole of Spain. It lasts for more than a week and is truly a spectacle not to be missed. The Castle of St John is a dramatic landmark of the town and is illuminated at night. A walk up here during the day is a must do. There is a cafe/restaurant situated near the top of the hill offering good food and drinks with spectacular views of the town.

At Los Collados there is a new Pool Bar/Restaurant on site at the AT aparthotel. It is open for breakfast, lunch. dinner, snacks and drinks from 9am daily until late. There is also a small cafe and shop selling basics eg bread, water etc.

Aguilas

The scenery around this undiscovered part of Spain is a mixture of dramatic sea cliffs, long expanses of sandy beaches and several pretty, sandy coves, almost always completely uncrowded. It it normal to have a beach to yourselves out of the main summer months. The sea is warm from May onwards and ideal for the many water based activities on offer. You can even swim in November!! Further afield the historic cities if Lorca and Cartagena are less than an hours drive. Mojacar is less than 40 mins away, as is Vera, where a brand new water park has recently opened. Golfers will be delighted to find good courses within 20 mins by car including Lorca Golf. There is a nine hole course within walking distance of the apartment. At the new Marina at Juan Monteil there are numerous facilities for water sports, eg. Kayaking, motorboat hire, diving trips arranged.

Transport links from Aguilas are very good by bus and train making places like Granada, Alhambra, Cortejo and Murcia city easy and cheap to get to.

The whole area is served by a new motorway system which makes exploring this fabulous corner of Spain easy.
