Description from owner

Description

Casa Roja is located in the coastal countryside of the charming village of Aguilas in the Southeastern province of Murcia. Here you´ll find the best of both worlds - the peace and quiet of the countryside, yet just a few minutes drive to the sea. Many of our guests have chosen us as the perfect "destress" holiday. The local coastline is untouched by development, with still wild coastal trails to ramble, and numerous coves to privately sunbathe or snorkel. The waters here are unpolluted and crystal clear. The apartment is south facing with its own private garden with sunbeds and terrace. Ample shopping is only a 15 minute drive to Aguilas, which also offers a variety of cafes, bars and restaurants, long seaside promenades, a hilltop castle with stunning views of the town and the sea, and a beautiful botanical square to sit for a coffee, a drink, or a plate of tapas. The entrance to the AP7 motorway, with links to Cartagena and Almeria, is less than 10 minutes away from the lodging. The

The owner is a trained chef, and can provide dinners on the terrace by request.

Location description from owner

The Murcia region

The Costa Calida in Murcia is one of the least developed coastlines in all the Mediterranean, let alone Spain. There´s a average year round temperature of 25º celcius with limited rainfall and desertlike vegetation similar to the north coast of Africa.

The nearby town of Lorca hosts a series of spectacular easter week (semana santa) processions through the centre of town and a summer nights arts and music festival with international acts performing under the stars in the grounds of the castle which overlooks Lorca. The town itself features many examples of Spanish baroque architecture.

Aguilas

The fishing port of Aguilas stays virtually unchanged through the seasons, being a normal working town. There´s a seaside promenade which stretches along the town´s coast and the lush central square, Plaza España, offers several areas to sit for an al fresco coffee, beer or ice cream. The weekly market is where all the town gathers to stock up on anything from clothes to olives and roasted almonds.

Aguilas is famous for its scuba diving, with sunken ships and underwater caves to explore. There are several schools on hand to help the novice. In February, the town goes into a frenzy with its carnival and the entire town turned out in fancy dress.
