Description

Spacious, two story, stone built villa, that sleeps up to six people. It is in a secluded hamlet about 150m above sea level. It is surrounded by olive trees and has stunning sea and mountain views. It has a private pool and well maintained garden with a spacious patio and balcony. A short five minute drive or 20 minute walk takes you to local fabulous, unspoilt beaches and secluded coves . Hidden away on the south coast between Agia Galini and Moni Preveli and about 2 hours drive from Herakleion or Chania Airport, the tiny hamlet of Agia Paraskevi, stands high on the hillside looking out over the Libyan sea. The villa is 8 years old but built of local stone in traditional style. It has 3 bedrooms all on the ground floor with two of the bedrooms opening onto a patio and the swimming pool area.The kitchen and living room area is on the 1st floor opening onto large balcony with great sea views. You really have a dream view here over the sea and the islands of Paximadia and Gavdos the most southerly point in Europe. This is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the Libyan sea and gaze at the stars at night. Situated in an unspoilt and secluded area, it was recently described in a Guardian Newspaper article as “like stepping back in time.” This is where you will find the real Crete of thirty years ago. Ideal for a peaceful retreat far from the crowds. If you like night clubs and bars this is not the place for you! However, there are many local tavernas close by, serving wonderful fresh food, where you will receive a warm welcome and be offered free raki with almost every meal.

We provide all bed linen and towels, (except beach towels) and cleaning is included. There is air conditioning in the two main bedrooms; the double and the the room with two single beds. The downstairs patio has comfortable seating and sun beds adjacent to the private pool, there is also an outside shower.

The villa has 3 bedrooms all on the ground floor: a large air conditioned bedroom with a double, 4 poster bed, opening out onto patio and swimming pool. Another bedroom with 2 twin beds and air-conditioning and a further bedroom with comfortable double sofa bed also opening out onto the patio and pool area (this room can be used as a downstairs lounge and /or bedroom).The kitchen and living room area is on the 1st floor opening out onto large balcony with outside dining table and chairs.There is a shower room and toilet on ground floor and a larger shower room and toilet on the 2nd floor. Please note, beach towels are not provided

Outside there is a private swimming pool approximately 7.5 X 3.5 m. The depth ranges from 1.2 to 1.5 m, there is no shallow area for young children. The average temperature of the pool in summer is about 25 C. The downstairs patio area has comfortable outdoor furniture. The garden has a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers. There is also an outside shower. There is an electric barbecue.There is also an upstairs balcony with fabulous views, with a large table and chairs for outside dining. The downstairs patio adjacent to the pool has comfortable chairs and a table and a pergola providing shade. There is a large sun umbrella and two pergolas providing shade. The downstairs patio and upstairs balcony both provide wonderful sea views.

The property is not suitable for very young children because it has a number of stone steps which could be a hazard. It is not suitable for those with mobility problems for the same reasons. Guests must also be aware that the pool does not have a shallow end, the depth is approximately 1 metre to 1.5 metres at the deepest part.

“Home away from home”

Great place to stay in a beautiful part of the world. This really was a home away from home - really comfortable and in an idyllic setting too. John and Judy were easily contactable, Paul the house manager provided any on site help, if needed. Vicki and Stavros in Fontini served excellent food whenever we needed refuelling from beach fun. Definitely recommended.

Great stay in this lovely house. Beautiful views, great pool and pretty garden outside and everything you needed inside ! This was the setting for the most relaxing holiday I can remember, no noise, roads or traffic, just peace ! Lovely area with some great beaches and places to eat close by, couldn't fault it !

“We stepped off the spinning world and re-discovered ourselves”

The Villa exceeded our expectations, the location and the views are to die for we spent many hours on the roof terrace just watching the world go buy. Rush hour consisted of 6 cars leaving the beach. There is a beach to suit all tastes in fact on some days we had a beach to ourselves. The food was fantastic in all the Taverna and with one only 2 minutes walk away you can drink & walk!. Great instructions on how to get to the villa a normal car is fine we had a Panda, next time we will get a 4by4 just so we can explore more. Will we return of course as soon as we can find someone to look after the kids.!

Owner's reply: We are very pleased that you enjoyed the 'end of the world experience' when you stayed in Agia Paraskevi. It is also wonderful in springtime when it is not so hot and there is a wonderful variety of wild flowers.
